Odin is not a reliable source and I did not deny that it can use PL-11. Blue colored missile is clearly a PL-12. After doing a reverse image search I managed to find a better quality picture and the white missile seems to be a PL-11 but it’s unclear whether its still a Air to Air missile or it has been modified to be a ARM.

That is the only mention of PL-11 to be tested on J-8III (aka J-8C) Ofc, it can be made a case of “more advanced aircraft of the same model could use older missiles”, but I doubt it will hold

J-8F did use PL-11 but the issue is its not clear whether its the original PL-11 or some modified version. Technical mods said PL-11 simply missing from its loadout. A bug report is probably enough to add it or maybe gaijin is intentionally avoiding PL-11.

True, I see it now, although now it leads to the question… Will addition of PL-11 do anything? Like, does it significantly different from already present PL-12? (At least by pilons. Switching through 3 different missiles going to be a pain, but hey, top tiers is already painful, might as well get use to)
PL-11 isn’t that good and adding it wont help it anyways. 2 PL-8s are far more useful than 2 shitty PL-11.

The British F-4 Phantoms were planned to receive the SRAAM and we are yet to get it in-game so what’s your point? This can apply to a plethora of vehicles excluding the YaK-41 so that excuse has no footing.

No, the same could be said about the J-8F and it receiving 4x PL-12s for “balancing” but this shouldn’t be the case whatsoever, everything should be completely historical and we shouldn’t make even one exception.

Tbh it could improve mid-long engagement range of J-8F if they set on different pilon than PL-12 by just giving J-8 more missiles to sling (especially since it radar, IIRC, can lead 4 missiles), but I doubt about this. So far, best case scenario as I see it is IRCCM variant of PL-8. Presence of HMD gonna (or not? Who knows the snail) kicks it up, but it seems this is the only option to improve it capabilities
Look, dont get me wrong, I personally dont mind making J-8F better. Heck, I like it more than J-11 (mostly because of borged Su-27 FM and because I have a soft spot for spicy doritos), but we talking here about making Gaijin to do something and the existence of authentic information, docs/legit photos/video gives at least some chances besides their (questionable) balance review

Then it keeps up and is not to op for 12.0 br and is still competitive
Other wise all br 12 planes have 50 plus counter measure on average
You launch pl8 they are not pre flaring …they see it 2km away flare …dodge
Even the br 12 have irccm and sparrow.

Most sources(Books) mentioned it can only carry 2 PL-11 and the pictures of J-8F with PL-11 shows that it carries them in the same pylon where PL-12 is installed.
It can either carry 2 PL-12 or 2 PL-11. Only the inner pylons can use PL-11, so you will have to give up PL-12 if you want to use PL-11. As I said before you can ask for PL-8B instead.

There are no pictures of it with the mixed loadout of PL-11 and PL-12 and in the picture you shared it seems the PL-11 was fired from the inner pylon.
