J-7D. The most broken plane at this time

It’s literally 3/4 of below 11.3 BR form of engagement other than 3rd partying, 9J or 9E doesn’t matter when you can just pop away every single adversary missile with one flare tap and force them into dogfight. you really don’t know what you’re talking. I’m not even gonna mention how you don’t have J-7D again considering you don’t even play 10.7 to begin with to make informed statement on this BR range.

you should probably learn to play the game if you struggle hitting people with pl5bs. they shouldnt even see it coming if you were playing right. and if they do see it coming? guess what you dont have to dogfight the f5 you’re faster if he pulls in you can just extend away, if you were playing the aircraft right you’d have an height advantage and at least 2km of distance from each other, and i forgot to mention, most people you fight arent f5, and you can outdogfight 90% of aircraft at the br

im not even going to try to make you understand what a br bracket is anymore lol

this plane is carried by Flight performance imo, being able to twist F-4 and Flogger balls and down them with 3 30mm dink is just so powerful considering it doesn’t have similar missile suite to it’s 11.3 compatriot.

Anyway PL-5B Seeker size is literally just 0.1 smaller than it’s compatriot, all things considered it really isn’t that powerful because only the blindest mf on earth doesn’t tap flare when they enter engagement. even outside engagement, when minimap doesn’t lit up red and i’m pulling away from engagement I still from time to time pop flare every 2 seconds or so.

The quality of PL-5B and by extension J-7D is very overstated and relies on really blind people or overly preocuppied ppl considering the plane gun is so bad that it better of taking its gun off or replacing it with 60 rounds N-30 cannon which shell doesn’t nosedive after 200m out of the barrel.

the gsh23 isnt great, but its not that bad my guy. its perfectly usable

You people are mythical being istg.

That’s true but what are these missiles?

  • Aim9D/G Good energy but very long burn time
  • Aim9J/P Very low range
  • Magic1/PL7 Overall decent but less energy than PL-5B
If any of those missiles are fired at you from range u have a much longer time to react

That’s also true unless u fire it from 1.5-2km to avoid a gun fight but u greatly underestimate the amount of blind people
Most people have a blind spot from above. they simply don’t look up. most of my kills with the J-7E are with the PL-5B fired from above at low flying targets. F-4S? just food

This is the part that I hate.

This is gamble. all of this is gamble. the fact that I can’t accurately measure the probability of someone not flaring my missile or SOMEONE ELSE missile and flaring mine accidentally is the thing I hate about playing with missile in general. and idk how, but my matchmaking seems to put me with people that have 360 degree screen and vision that just nullifies any positioning i got.

yeah you have the initiative against slow A-10s that you can run from and smash it with even the Gsh.

To say none against F-4C/F-1…poor lads.

but all it takes is a small .3 uptier.

Aim–7E, E-2-DF, R-24R just to name a few. A competent F-4 pilot will know to use the 7E against the J-7D, forcing it low to take advantage of ground clutter. Why I say that? Because all these missiles I mentioned are CW seekers, and as long the opponent 's radar is locked onto something and within visual, the missile will track.

So much so for initiative. Now you’re forced to play the role of a F-5, but with HORRIBLE energy retention.

I don’t know what server u play on but I noticed that switching servers can give you an easier time
For example when I was playing F8U-2(10.3br) on EU/CIS I got destroyed by J-7D almost every game but then I switch to NA server and the vehicles I faced changed a lot and became very playable
If u meta game a little bit and check people’s profiles you will see a lot more lv100 players on EU/CIS than NA so you can switch servers to your advantage hehe

Anyway back to the topic of J-7D being OP keep in mind the J-7D is a premium so a lot of new players who crash at takeoff play it yet despite that it has 55% WR with 10M games sample size

This is very high for a premium, for reference the F-4S has 45.5% WR, F-4J despite being worse has 47.8% WR (Premium vs Tech tree)
If J-7D was a Tech tree plane it would probably have 58% WR It’s definitely very good

Using this stat, I think the mig 21 bison of 12.3 has 1.2 kb or something. Would you consider it Op?

All of these missiles are easy to deal with, maintain altitude and go into a notch drop some chaff and its gone you don’t need to use ground clutter + mig23 has MTI mode so it will ignore ground clutter anyway
CW signal just makes it immune to head-on chaff deployment

Considering it has 3.6m sample size with 60% WR I would say yes, but I acknowledge that if it were to go to 12.7 it would face 13.7 almost every game and drop to 40% WR so its fine as is until decompression happens

Both F-5s ur showing have better K/D and even the Mirage III E noone rly plays have better stats than the J-7D. Problem is,those few mil games are since introduced, from that time J-7D got nerfed multiple times,FM wise, weaponry wise with the PL-5B nerfs and the contrails above 5k everywhere which made climbing and stealth throwing missiles worse as everyone now notices you.

Exactly, these planes are played by skilled, mostly lv100 players. The IIIE is a foldered vehicle anyone who is just grinding to the top wouldn’t even research it
Its expected for tech tree vehicles to have higher WR than Premiums. not to be rude but the average premium player is simply less skilled

Here is more recent data

10x the sample size of the Mirage, btw the AMX is for CAS not ARB

I’ll stop replying to this thread for now, my suggestion is to bring the J-7D back to 11.0

You can say it was all bait, you still have time.

I don’t get it, are you trying to mislead people or what

R24R is 11.7, a whole 1.0 above

DF is 11.3 and is on a non-MTI/PD platform and is chaff affected (Luckily J7D has 72 CM’s)

So where is this 0.3 difference really? The JP EJ that has regular 7E that take 2km to start tracking.

Since uptier happens a lot, we should judge a plane both by how it performs in its own tier and uptiered fully.

Also these are CW seekers, which means a combo of notching and chaffing will be needed. The J-7D does not have a RWR that points the precise direction of a threat, like the phantom RWR does, which means it will have to be done visually.

Exactly. These people don’t know what they’re arguing, they just know that they hate the J-7D for whatever reason.

“It has amazing missiles!” Okay, want to know what is better than a rear aspect missile? An all aspect missile at 10.3, routinely fighting 9.3s with no flares. So why isn’t the A-10A (Early and Late) and the Su-25 at 11.0+?

“The J-7D has too many flares!” Okay, but people seem fine with bringing up the J35XS, because “countermeasures don’t matter since most missiles can be flared off with one”, plus, the A-10 gets 480 COUNTERMEASURES, the Su-25 gets 256 COUNTERMEASURES.

“But it’s different, they are too slow!” Okay, so why is the Venom at 8.7, despite being slower than 6.7 jets? I guess the F-104 should be 13.0 because it’s faster than most things. Speed obviously has zero impact on the BR. Also, they have all aspect missiles. That means they can shoot you from everywhere.

its just a beefed up mig 21 MF not as strong as mig 21 bis at 11.0

All aspects would push it too 11.3/11.7.

Flight performance also matters.

No one is saying that.
