Because it’s easy to notch an AIM-120
Apparently the enemies never know that.
The Aim120C performs waaaaay better than the PL-12 and PL-12A
Of course not, and I don’t like using this, but you have a 0.60 KD in air combat, you have almost a negative KD in the Su-30MKK. I don’t think you know what you’re talking about.
Up until very recently, the PL-12 was superior to the Aim-120C5, PL-12A even more so, there was a very recent set of changes designed to improve the missiles stability which had a notable impact on the overall kinematic performance. This is widely known and document, so your reports regarding the PL-12 handling poorly is a known issue. But Seeker performance, is no different between Aim-120C5 and PL-12.
If I were to hazard a guess, its launch conditions. Based upon your previous statements, you have not yet fully spaded the J-15T and the Typhoon is more capable in firing high and very fast. Conditions very well suited for the AMRAAM. I would suspect the PL-12 is much the same, needing good launch conditions to succeed. The naturally slower state of a non-spaded aircraft combined with an aircraft less capable of reaching higher speeds would result in a Aim-120C5 having a better chance than the PL-12 under similar ranges and target conditions.
But their vulnerability to notch and thus chaff remains un-changed.
Ok bro. This doesnt change the fact that the Pl-12 and PL-12A have way too much drag and seem to loose track super easily. Or at least get outmanouvered easily.
But we’re telling you that this missile is just like the others and is actually better than the AIM-120 C5. Not by much, but it is better.
Yeah I dont believe you tho
How PL-12 directly compares to C5 post-nerf Im not entirely sure kinematically speaking. But PL-12A definetly retains the GNSS advantage which whilst minor, is probably does shift the PL-12A to being the better missile overall. But yeah, seeker performance is likely 99% the same (not gunna say 100% because they can have tiny differences in some aspects)
Just go check it out
and your problem is with all planes equipped with Fox-3, you only did better with the MiG-21 because it doesn’t have Fox-3. Your problem is that you don’t know how notch
Aim-54A & C and the F-90 have one set of seekers and are the weakest
MICA EM has a unique and annoyingly superior seeker
The remaining Fox-3 missiles all largely retain the exact same seeker, there are tiny differences between them, like R-77-1 handles low flying targets slightly better due to some slight stat differences I cant recall. But in-regard to things like gatewidth which would affect how susceptible they are too notching, they are the same. Despite 2 year old reports to actually buff the AMRAAM in this regard
I know how to notch tho.
And this also shows how unplayble the J-15T is comparatively otherwise the rating would be close to my other aircraft which it isnt.
The problem is that all your planes are in poor status.
Not nearly as bad as the J-15T though so that argument doesnt make a whole lot of sense. Its not my fault you are such a sweat. This argument of yours is literally stupid. “GitGud” would only apply if my win rate on the J-15T would be close to my other jets which it ISNT.

Yeah my missiles are useless. I gave up on using them. I only have them as a last ditch effort now. The j-15T is unplayable as I said.
Poorer performance can always be expected for non-spaded aircraft (because well, duh, its weaker than it should be)
It is also widely accepted that the J-15T is not in a healthy state at the moment and likely should be 14.3. This is in part due to the low Chaff count which is historically accurate. The aircraft requires a far more defensive and cautious playstyle compared to the Typhoon, which can get away with being more aggressive
It is also known that PL-12 and PL-12A are not doing well Kinematically at the moment due to recent nerfs, but were for a while some of the better Fox-3 Missiles. But from what ive heard from trusted sources, they are handling more like AMRAAM now, rather than being notably better than AMRAAM.
Extra chaff and PL-15 are highly unrealistic at this time. The Chaff count for the J-15T is correct due to its IRL dependence on ECM and PL-15s would only result in an Increase in BR.
Your issues regarding the PL-12 being “easier” to notch than Aim-120C5 or the missile not tracking correctly though dont track (pun semi-intended). There isnt any reason why they should be different to the C5 in this regard apart from the aforementioned differenes in launch conditions which has a major impact on how likely it is to kill a target with a Fox-3. So in this, providing examples of replays or clips would be appreciated.
It might be well worth spending some time Familiarizing with some lesser known aspects of BVR combat. I would suggest starting with properly reading the radar interface, including the range scale and LSZ zone. I have written a guide for this here. It sounds like you have firing sub-optimal shots and then being surprised when they dont work
Even if you do notch with the J-15T which I also gave up on doing, you have such low chaff count and even when multipathing you just get destroyed.
I just watched two replays, and you’re the one who’s terrible zero positioning, flying straight toward a base without even looking back. You only avoid dying twice because of luck. You use flares and chaff at the same time even though you only have six flares, and you put yourself in situations where you have to use flares. So many mistakes, it’s scary
