I’d have to pick Spain between the two. There’s just more a connection between the two than with Turkey as I see it, and Spain’s lower amount of vehicles would make it easier to incorporate as a subtree.
That being said, I think just expanding the current Romanian and Hungarian subtrees would more than suffice. Spain and Portugal would be better allocated to a LATAM-Iberian tree. I’m not as sure what should be done with Turkey.

+1 to Spain which I frankly think should have been the first subtree for Italy from the getgo. The connection between the two nations is very strong plus the vehicles it has to offer would compliment the tree. It has enough original vehicles to make the subtree worthwhile. I think Turkey is best left amongst the various trees imo.

I never thought everything should be my own personal preference, I just expressed my opinion, which doesn’t coincide with your preferences and Gaijin’s choices. This isn’t a problem for me, but apparently it is for you.

This is just completely and utterly untrue. Romania and Hungary both still have PLENTY to be added, especially Romania. I really doubt you did ample research on these two nations, because if you did I mean you would be making a very different point.
You see this is a fairly large misconception about the Italy tech tree. It has a great rank 6 and rank 7, and it only really suffers with the Ariete which isnt a problem of adding more subtrees, but actually it getting its correct armor and characteristics.
Romania is currently in the process of buying either a base K2, or a K2PL made for Romania, please do better research bro. Also, look at all the suggestions for both Romania and Hungary and see what there is.
As for the Italy tech tree as a whole, ive spaded all ground, helicopter, air, and am working on naval. I dont think that Italy is a horrible tech tree that people say it is, I think it is a tech tree that only requires 3 things. 1, skill, most people suck at playing warthunder. I personally am only an above average player, and I skill perform perfectly fine with the Arietes and Italian vehicles. 2, it needs MUCH better attention and support from gaijin, which has disgraced it many many times. 3, ability to settle for not having the most crazy meta vehicles. Even then, Italy has plenty of great niche vehicles, which is one of the reasons I main it. I personally dont even want something like a Su-30SM or Mi-28NM because I find it to be just too much. I want to have fun when I play this game, not always be worried about what is the best thing in the world.
Also, if you would stop only focusing on top tier (which I find to be a large problem in many parts of this community) you will see that Romania and Hungary have plenty of vehicles to add which would bring things that are much needed.
What I want from Hungary that could fill gaps in Italy:
ISz-2, T-34-85 (or from romania), and T-55/72 CURRUS modifications, a finished prop subtree, and 44M Tas
What I want from Romania (only a few things because Romania has much to offer):
T-55AM2R, TR-580, all TR-85 variants, K2, MiG-21 LanceR, Piranha and MLI-84, some of the TAB variants, 9P148 and 9P122 (could be from Hungary also), CA-95 (to replace Strela-10M), IAR-99 and IAR-330, etc etc
Also forgot to add here, but Romania has a lot of interesting WW2 vehicles which could be added.
If you did some more research you could find all the vehicles that these subtrees both have to offer, and how much of it is unique. I dont think that adding Spain or Turkey is really going to solve the problem at hand: gaijin not adding good or really any vehicles to Italy

I wouldnt take this guy seriously, in my opinion what he is trying to do is actually going to further destroy Italy than help it.
Spain would be a LOT of copy paste, as would Turkey but to a lesser extent.
We have shown him plenty of times how Romania and Hungary are enough (as well as the potential of the Italian defense industry itself, which if it was fully implemented we would never have even needed Romania or Hungary). He is just adamant on his idea and only his way, without out any critism, constructive or not.
I took the liberty of looking him up on thunderskill, and despite him complaining sooo much about Italian top tier, he really doesnt play much of it. His top vehicles are all in the rank VI 9.0 range which is actually one of the best parts of the Italian tech tree, so I dont really see how he has so many complaints. He also seems to just play mainly that 9.0-10.0 range across all countries, which I mean no wonder he has so much hate in his heart (terrible BR range in my opinion).
I think this dudes problem is that he is taking the tech tree as it is implemented in warthunder as it is a face value, when in reality that is its problem. The problem is not that there are no vehicles to add, but that there are PLENTY to add but gaijin doesnt add them. This dude should focus his efforts there instead of just giving gaijin more excuses to add more slop and copy paste to Italy, when it really should get domestic Italian vehicles and modified vehicles from the subtrees.

Actually with Gaijin’s favour towards trialed stuff (which I pretty much hate), we can already get Romanian K2.

I put in the K2, because you were only focusing on top tier. I could have said the M1A2 SepV3 which is already being delivered, but I chose to say K2 because there is a potential that Romania will get a specialized variant based off of the K2PL. I am trying to offer unique vehicles, which you yourself see Hungary, Romania, and Italy lacks.

I could say the same about you for about the Hungarian and Romanian trees, infact I did. I still see no reason why you are wanting more subtrees (which in all reality would only be copy paste if you understand how gaijin implements vehicles).

I offered the K2 as something semi-unique (in theory it will be like a K2RO based off the K2PL). I do also hate the whole trialed vehicle stuff, and in all reality I think that a C2 Ariete with the L/55 (when it is unvieled) will make for a good top tier vehicle, and also the Ariete armor being fixed of course.
Then in the future we could potentially see a “K2RO” which would in reality be much too advanced to be ingame right now (if it is to be based off the K2PL). I would hope to see this come with potentially the IMBT or 2A8
I doubt it’s going to be fixed, at least until some more presice information on that tank becomes available. At max they’ll make a response to 2 years old bug report with justification of its current condition, like “commercial lie” and etc.
Imo the only thing to make C2 top tier worth is to give it Shard, so it would be kinda like Ariete with CL3143, when other tanks had worse shells, the same thing can be said about Centauro 2.
