It is advisable to lower the Battle Rating (BR) of the JAS-39A from 13.0 to 12.7 or 12.3

Compared with other fighter jets of the same BR, the JAS-39A is at a distinct disadvantage. Firstly, its radar search efficiency is relatively low; secondly, the performance of the “Sky Flash” semi-active radar-guided missile equipped on this fighter jet is obviously insufficient, and it is hard to imagine that this is the missile configuration that a 13.0 BR fighter jet should have.
In my opinion, equipping the JAS-39A with “Sparrow” 7F missiles or “Super Sky Flash” missiles and lowering its BR to 12.7 is the optimal adjustment plan at present. However, even if such adjustments are completed, the JAS-39A equipped with “Sparrow” 7F or “Super Sky Flash” missiles will still not have an advantage when facing models such as the F-18, F-16 and Su-33.

Yes, 12.7 is reasonable if they remove the HMD

It’s good at 13.0. Comparable or even better than an F-16

In fact, it’s not at all. This fighter jet cannot compete with any aircraft of the 13.0 generation. It’s a rather weak aircraft, and the Jas 39A has been neglected for a long time

Not without loadout and equipment changes.

Removal of 9Ms and BOL (at least 2) would be needed.

It’s better, Miles better

Let’s take the F-15 for example.
At 13.0 you have 4 AIM-9Ms and 4 AIM-7Ms. Not that much diffrent. You have the acceleration. You don’t have the turning ability of the gripen. No BOL which you can use at any given moment. No HMD. So, nah. The Gripen is in fact quite good

He does have one point that is fair.

Gripen A has Skyflash DFs, which are at best an 11.3 SARH missile at 13.0 vs not just Aim-7M/Ps but also R-27ERs and Fox-3s.

In that regard, the Gripen A is woefully underpowered compared to a lot of aircraft at 13.0, especially in a meta partially determined by BVR combat.

Though ultimately, once it gets into a WVR fight, few things hold their own against a Gripen A. It would need significant nerfs to its WVR performance to actually get a BR drop

HMD would likely change nothing.

The Gripen A has Aim-9, missiles not known for their HOBS, removal of HMD wouldnt change the BR at all, especially as the radar has half decent modes for locking on in a dogfight if needed.

Its the BOL, IRCCM and FM that influence its BR more than anything else

Every fighter jet has its advantages, but the Gripen’s strengths are insufficient to support its rating of 13.0. The F-15 is significantly superior, boasting impressive power, clear radar, powerful payload and missiles. The JAS 39A only excels in turning and bol, while everything else is quite mediocre or even lagging behind

It’s fine where it is lol. If you can’t make something happen with 4-6 AIM-9M (never use the dogshit Skyflashes), 700 CMs and one of if not the best flight model at that BR idk what to tell you.

Literally all you have to do is play defensive for most of the match and force WVR engagements where you should win most of the time

No lmao this thing would clown on the mig-29 and f-14A at 12.7 and all other 11.7 when fully down tiered

It already does

The Viggen is better than the F-16 if you aren’t an idiot or are fighting an idiot, simply being more manuverable doesn’t make you better.

The 9M without a HMD that reaches outside of the radar range is crucial to off-boresight with the 39A

You may also recall the fact that they only moved it up to 13.0 because they gave it an HMD to force it there.

The Gripen A is a lot better than the belgian F-16A.

Having said that, they are outclassed mostly by flankers, but 13.0 is very compressed and lowering the gripen A and the belgian F-16A to 12.7 is not a good solution. The squadron F-16 was wrongly placed at 12.7 for greedy reasons and should be moved up ASAP.

Compared with other fighter jets of the same BR, the Su-27S is at a distinct disadvantage. Firstly, its radar search efficiency is low; secondly, the performance of the SPO-15 radar warning reciever equipped on this fighter jet is obviously insufficient, and it is hard to imagine that this is the configuration that a 13.0 BR fighter jet should have.

When has this ever been true? Never exactly

The Flankers are some of the best 13.0 planes, along side the F-2, F-15s, F-4F, Tornado F.3 Late, and the J-8F. We just need decompression to move every 13.3+ plane up by 0.3, and move the best 13.0s to 13.3.

idk why but it sounds just like the MiG-29 dilemma, HMD with IRCCM. In contrast, all non-SMT MiG-29 that only has R-60M as IR missile get kept on 12.7 and if gives it R-73 it should be up to 13.0 like the MiG-29G. There are folks pushing for R-73 to be added to 12.7 MiG-29s but remove the R-27ER at the same time.
