Side ERA was changed, provides around 530 mm of HEAT protection and around 54 mm against 30 mm APDS. Front hull is mostly protected against 30 APDS with some rounds destroying the engine. I don’t see anything else as changed but i very well could have missed something.
Honestly though. It’s a damn joke they are thinking it’s now even the equivalent of being at 11.3 should be 10.7 honestly at most now. It was designed to withstand punishment. It’s the heaviest wheeled ifv in the game and it’s renowned for its armor capabilities. At least they added the era but what the hell are the chemical and ke values. Are we serious rn? Literally namer 2.0
I find it hard though to say the namer is better than the Eitan. Namer has the exact same problems as the Eitan. It’s Just bigger and slower. The Eitan will have some mobility at least. The Namer should be more armored than bmpt. But hey this is Russia thunder after all
Didn’t get side ERA on the front right, surprisingly
Back reactive plate behind larger ERA tiles still not modeled, expected my report to be ignored
Didn’t get full UFP armor coverage, report ignored again
Has HE weakspots in random places
Mildly improved reactive armor to be slightly better than 1st gen Russian ERA (Breh)
Quite over BR’d at 11.3, this is not equivalent to a BMPT.
Sadly still has a lower end turret traverse speed for being a unbanned RCWS, due to lack of sources.
Thankfully:
They didn’t model the drivers cameras as electronic components 💀
The APS works functionally
It is the most heavily armored and has the highest Hp/t of any wheeled autocannon vehicle in game.
It got a LWS, no clue where they got that from, maybe they’re right, but I don’t believe it had that (contrary to my ESS claim, which I’ve been told it has but I still lack sourcing in)
No Power systems in the back
Overall, if they drop its BR eventually it’ll do fine, I’m somewhat content with this implementation compared to others. Gaijin’s estimates aren’t absurd like with the Namer this time around, but they are very much on the lower end of what they could have been. Its main problem now won’t be its armor, but rather its BR and what it will have to face with a measly 30mm bushmaster. Here’s to hoping in the future it gets a lower BR, and gaijin allows similar vehicles to have more internal spikes alongside internal cannon ammo.
Great update for Israeli mains! We get our first wheeled IFV, the I-Derby ER boosting the SPYDER AiOs effectiveness dramatically, and the F-15I Ra’am can now carry 23 fire and forget munitions. Huge wins all around, hoping to see more such great and needed changes in the future!
This is indeed some huge wins this update for us Israeli mains. I’m a little disappointed with how they modeled my poor eitan. But it’s at least not on the namers level of un modeled 💀
I just looked into the whole Ironfist LD debacle again, and found a very simple reason why gajin probably made the choice to keep the max interception speed of the system so low.
Elbit’s website clearly states that the Ironfist LD isn’t designed to intercept tank fired HEAT projectiles. The speed of HEAT shells at high/top tier in game normally ranges from 850-1000m/s.
I can therefore imagine that Gaijin didn’t want to go to the trouble of implementing a possible/successful APS interception based on projectile type, and went the lazy route by simply coding the APS to destroy any type of projectile that falls within the max interception speed.
Sadly this isn’t an Israel exclusive issue. Much like the lack of wheeled IFVs being a big thing solved for many nations this update, we’ll likely get those gaps filled in the future alongside other minor nations.
Hopefully we get the Pereh soon maybe next major update hopefully, but knowing gaijin they’ll probably label it a light tank and not give it an ammo box because 24 spikes is too “overpowered”
