Israeli Eitan IFV Prototype - Bugs, Inaccuracies, And Discussion!

Eitan IFV Discussion - The “Strong” Wheeled APC for Israel

The Eitan APC:

As of the announcement of War Thunder Major Update “Ninth Wave”, Israel is to receive the new “Eitan” Wheeled IFV Prototype/Demonstrator. The Eitan APC is a uniquely Israeli and Indigenous APC developed by and for Israel. The APC version is currently in service with the IDF today, and the IFV will be the first wheeled vehicle with an auto cannon introduced to the Tech Tree.

The vehicle we are getting in War Thunder is the Eitan “IFV” Prototype, a original Prototype turned demonstrator that was modified to house a turret featuring a 30mm Bushmaster II Mk.44, Spike missile launchers, and Iron Fist APS. If you’re familiar with the Namer IFVs turret, it’s the same one but modified to use the Iron Fist APS rather than the Trophy APS, sacrificing 2 additional APS charges for the ability to intercept much higher velocity munitions including kinetic rounds! The Eitan APC weighs less than 35 tons empty (claims of 30, 33), but its exact weight with the turret and a combat load is unknown, and specs on the turret itself are also unknown. The vehicle has a 750/816hp engine, and an assumed power to weight ratio of ~21.5-25 or 23.3-27.2Hp/t. The most notable feature of the Eitan is its armor. The vehicle is raised high with lower hull armor to protect from IEDs and other explosives, but that doesn’t take away from the sides or front. The sides and frontal hull armor feature the infamous SLERA (Self Limiting Explosive Reactive Armor) in a modular design similar to that found in the Merkavas and Namers, making it rightfully regarded as one of the most heavily armored APCs in the world. No gaijin the side armor is not just composite blocks… I know you’re gonna do it aren’t you…

If this vehicle is fully realized based on common knowledge information, the following will set it apart from vehicles ingame:

It will be the most armored, the heaviest (second to the Boxer), have the strongest power pack, and the strongest Hp/t ratio of any wheeled IFV ingame (*assuming it gets the higher end of the estimated Hp/t ratio). On top of this: it will have the strongest Hardkill APS present ingame, a modestly armed 30mm Bushmaster 2 Mk.44 Cannon with APFSDS/APDS/HEI-T Shells, and 2 (likely to be given 4 by gaijin) Spike F&F Missiles (which would be nice when they actually work…). Other less notable features include a Top Speed of 90km/h (56mph), a Laser Rangefinder, Smoke Grenades and a Smoke Mortar, ESS (?), Gunner and Commander Sights with High-Gen Thermals & NVD, Full Steering with the Front 4 Wheels, Air Target Tracking, Commander Override, a Recon Drone, and a 7.62mm Coaxial Machine Gun.

(*I know a lot of people won’t say this due to the state of the tree, but thank you for adding this gaijin! It’s Israel’s first Wheeled IFV which has been long awaited and requested, and I’m quite glad to see it ingame! Now onto the bigger issue, the lack of any Rank 9 Aircraft…)

What a peak IFV, i hope once its finished it’ll be somehow accurate (specifically when it comes to armor)

what are the expectatives of what rounds would it actually absorb?

The following reports are going to be the most important, as even with the model corrections there’s no guarantee it’ll be fixed on their own:

  • SLERA Front Hull Armor (Will be NERA)
  • Changing Side Armor from Composite to SLERA (Would be NERA)
  • Engine Hp
  • Total Mass
  • ESS
  • LWS

Everything else and features not present are likely to be fixed.

(These are just my assumptions)
If it were to receive SLERA/NERA on the hull front and sides, ingame it’d likely be resistant to 20-40mm APFSDS frontally or at the very least the sloped front hull roof, and 20-30mm AP on armored areas of the side. Chemically it should be able to withstand almost all chemical munitions ingame frontally, and smaller caliber chemical munitions on the side.

huh, an wheeled vehicle that is actually capable of withstanding every chemical round frontally would be interesting

Guh

The higher capable ones would mean losing the engine tho, but if you’re familiar with Israeli vehicles it’s nothing new

yeah, i’m an israeli main, it’s fine

A watch with suspended glee.

Gaijin better not fumble the bag.

this one is just wip bug, there is not a chance it wont be fixed until the update, i feel like bug reporting this will be a waste of time

wdym by this?

Al’s why I put it under the “less important” section. Easy fix, that is if gaijin notices it

Currently stated as 100km/h when hovering over the transmission, should be 90. Haven’t spaded it yet for myself tho

Is it that the gaijin didn’t finish, or are there just two Spike on the whole vehicle?

It’s EXTREMELY unfinished. You can even use the gun outside of the test drive, and the spikes aren’t even a part of the vehicle. Beyond unfinished

What did they do the model. Why are the wheels doing that? The Japanese been real quiet since Tel Aviv Drift dropped

Is it normal that the rear suspension on the Eitan is lower than the front? If it isn’t, it’s just costing gun depression.

Is it correct that there is an empty space behind the frontal armor around the front wheels?

Yes, part of it is hollow. I don’t know how hollow, but this seems to be an accurate depiction.
