So… hull ammo is a thing. In the Leo’s but Russia figured out removing the extra ammo outside of the auto loader caused tanks to eat far far more rounds.
Yeah until your patience reward you by getting bomb out of that position after you killed one or two tanks i used to have more patience and positioning like you before until it doesn’t work like it supposed to be anymore and turn out going CQC is less prone to get bomb than having patience i really don’t enjoy such garbage CQC gameplay but i had to survive.
As for later Abrams, they are all equipped with governors, which possibly could be removed or disabled and probably have been at some point which is why it’s only 68-70kph
They did hit at least 70mph on the autobahn during the cold war, considering how good Abrams acceleration is and was irl, especially with lighter M1 , it should be attainable on roads in-game
They have governor because of reliability issues with going that fast, and because it might mess up the crew getting all shaken up, but neither matter in game
If youve for a source for the 70mph id love to read that cause thats f’ing insane speed and genuinely want to read that. Not for fact checking btw dont worry
The governer is also to maintain the tank itself btw cause the parts would wear out incredibly fast at sustainijg a speed like that.
Genuinely on cross country not on mud the cr2 actually maintains a fair old speed as well think its about 43kmph which for a monster that size is insanely quick.
The chieftain funnily enough cross country was quite fast as well due to the suspension
Theres no hard GDLS stuff saying it can afaik, but this guy works/worked for GDLS and drove them
It is important to note that when he says stripped of armor this is most likely referring to early Abrams being lighter than later ones as they had less armor
Multiple other crew accounts of going over 60 or 70 mph you can find by googling
Idk if it really was stripped though, he could just be talking about how they had less armor. Have they ever stripped the armor off of an Abrams in US service, especially the old ones.
The other driver accounts I have read also point towards similar speed at least for old M1/m1a1 and I really doubt every single one of those tanks was stripped of armor seeing as that would probably be quite expensive and a hassle for little to no purpose
The accounts im reading for the autoban one is stripped of its composits
The m1 itself without the gov was closer to 55 mph some downhill verging 60mph , with no load. Aka ammo or tools etc.
The m1a1 was slower due to the upgraded armour being DU armour which may be why the original m1 on the autoban was faster as.it didnt use the du.
Which leads me to believe it wasnt stripped because they wouldn’t need to strip it as both Germany, usa and britain all knew the composites involved.
Its one of those weird ones we.may never get a definitive answer.
As you said earlier but for the game its mot that important, would be funny but abrams.at over 100kpmh
I mean the thing goes 72kmph in game as is and is the fastest 10.7 mbt.
The pen of the round while is low isnt much worse than say the 2a4s 237mm at 60 degrees.
Combined with the 5 second reload and mobility is more than sufficient.
Funny enough, since dodge is owned by Chrysler, and the M1 was initially made by Chrysler, you can sort of trace the hellcat back to the original M1, which is the one hitting the crazy speeds
Depends on if you count the premium US top tier players or only non premium top tier US players.
Because I find the claim that non-premium top tier US players are worse than top tier German and Swedish players pretty hilarious and wrong. They are all incredibly stupid.
