Is US top tier too weak

I agree with the rest of your comment, but whats this about?

And you know this how?

historical trends of armor protection and how it is always, every time, without fail, eventually outmatched by munitions.

Armor isn’t developed to be a 50/50 chance. It’s made to protect.

That’s why the original M1 was struggling against the latest 2A46 ammo. It’s made to protect sure, but it’s going to get penetrated eventually.

Hm, i wonder why armor is eventually upgraded. Does anyone have a clue why it gets upgraded?

And thats why the armor is upgraded. I don’t get your point.

So by your logic Leopard 2A7V’s armor can’t actually protect against KE?

Or Strv 122’s, which is 20 years older; or Leopard 2E’s, or T-90M’s, etc…?

Or does this only paply to the Abrams, somehow? Everyone is capable of developing and implementing KE-resistant armor… except the nation with highest military budget and most powerful army on the planet.

This guy seems to think APS is the only thing tanks need to defend against AT weapons lol.

Weird, that APS system only needs a software upgrade and doesn’t cost millions of dollars and man hours, I wonder what’s going to be the preferred choice…

Defending against a Javelin and 3BM70 are two different things. Your APS won’t defend you from that sabot round, nor will your DU turret defend against that Javelin.

You know Iron Fist can do both right… right?

Cool post you made up in your head that is completely incorrect

Not true. Hardware needs to be changed as well, at some point.

Yet the Merkava is still one of, if not the most armored tank in the world. Curious.

It can protect against some KE projectiles, but it’s not going to protect against all of them.

You literally said armies were already phasing it out for a reason, lol. now you’re backtracking.

Which KE projectile can penetrate a 750mm KE hull, or a 900mm KE turret?

Not true. Hardware needs to be changed as well, at some point.

Will it cost nearly as much time, money and material as an armor upgrade for entire fleets, probably not.

Negating the fact you were completely wrong about APS being unable to attack both CE/KE threats, hilarious by the way great job not doing basic google searches.

But the technology is still budding which is the main obstacle for APS as of now.

Armor is developed to defend against your most likely threats, not every single one in the world. There’s a reason tanks arent developed to survive nuclear blasts like Object 279 was, anymore.

You wanna bite my head off for bringing up random shit yet you bring up nukes randomly like this? Get a grip. I said all of them as in all KE projectiles. Let’s stop being intellectually dishonest.

I still want him to explain which APFSDS shell could penetrate 750-900mm KE worth of armor, and not just nowadays, but even better: back in 2000, when Spain, Greece and Sweden had such armor in service already through Leopard 2E, Strv 122 and Leopard 2A6HEL.

You realize not all the tanks are upgraded all at once, right? Not all 6k abrams are M1A2 Sepv3s lol.

Aw shucks, i forgot one thing. The merkava is still over 60 tons of composite armor, meaning your theory about APS being more important than armor is just… wrong.

Then stop acting like APS is “phasing out” armor.

LOSAT was rated to manage an upwards of 900mm.

LO- uh… a prototype that was never put in service? Are you building your whole point around… that?

I’ve literally stated my point numerous times. But because you’re wrong you don’t want to come to terms with the idea that armor isn’t going to be the number one means of protecting a vehicle anymore.
