Is Top Tier Sim Finally Dead?

Except I’m correct mytho

Yeah they can be as dumb as they want and be completely immune to radar missiles launched at them.

I don’t think it would really improve the game mod at top tier as it would make certain airframes with much better avoincs like Radar and RWR a even bigger advantage

Okay and what do you think happens to the game mode when that feature is removed? What happens to the game mode when there are not any new / novice players for experienced sim players to farm for kills? Do you think experienced sim players with their full VR / Track IR /etc setups are going to play the game against each other?

If I’m being honest they should make MP harder but leave notching.

Then people can’t just straight up ignore the Mach 3 deleter being launched at them. It would require them to notch which is easy enough.

MP isn’t really an issue if the missile is fired from high enough

It still is in sim mate. It also forces you to close within retaliation range.

If I’m up at 25,000 feet and fire a well tracking 120B at you as you hug the deck in front of me. If you continue to fly straight and not take any evasive action that should be my kill.

Defeats the whole point of going high to fire missiles.

If you are high enough you missile will still properly kill even with multipath

It is only issue if you are not the that high up

It never really does this in game but would be fun to test

Turning 90-120 degrees from the missile and dropping chaff, even the smallest most underperforming worst BOL chaff in the game, will still force target to close into retaliation distance. You can spam all your missiles at an experienced sim players and they will likely notch every single missile that is launched at them.

This still doesn’t change the fact that most players are focused on maps that allow for semi effective multipathing, flat terrain, and close spawning objectives.

I would like to see multipath completely removed as it would allow me to get more kills on novice players and make it easier to spawn camp people that are taking off. But also…what impact would that actually have on the game mode?

Ofc lol you only fight noobs and you spawn camp making it hard for people to get into the fight.

Then you complain about people not fighting.

You also fly planes with like 10 missiles.

Mine has 4 and has to sacrifice guns to do so.

I want the lethality of AMRAAM buffed for a start and multipath lowered.

Not necessarily, what the entirity Air battle modes needs are newer ways to defeat missiles, the main addition being ECM, (specifically the self defense pods/cms not dedicated ew aircraft like growlers or j16). which will allow the major reduction in performance of multipathing and notching

ive seen people ask for ECM thousands of times already, but nobody actually thinks about how it will work

like 99% of info about ECM is classified

Spoiler

like the only thing i know about ECM is that SPS-141 can jam (actually prevent it from guiding missiles) f-4j’s radar… thats about it

I am the only player that has ever received a 3 day ban from the game for singling out experienced sim players and fighting against them. It is actually a ban-able offense if you do it too much and enough people complain for long enough.

So now I have to make sure to be careful about what games I join and make sure that certain experienced players are on my teM lest they complain to the game mods.

The same group of people that brag about massive killing of zombers during events, play in dedicated teams, and have their own “hunting” lists of players that they don’t like / want to make quit the game did not like it when the script was flipped against them.

Correct. Most of the people that advocated for multipathing change to make the game more realistic do not play the game anymore. People want the game to be formatted to be especially hostile to novice / newb players but also require a constant influx of novice / newb players for the game mode to remain entertaining.

The recent high point for sim population was probably immediately after F-15C and F-15E got added and radars were massively gimped. It was the most newb friendly experience for most players because playing one side of the matchmaker was guaranteed to out number the other.

13.0 is not top tier.

And then what? The vast majority of targets / players seem to prefer situation where multipath is semi-reliable. This is probably even more prevalent at 12-13 tiers where there is transition between IR only planes, SARH planes, and ARH planes. What happens to all those planes if AMRAAM is basically a guaranteed kill if launched with good parameters?

Ehh gaijin can simplify it, simplify as in give similar performance ecm pods or EADS to all nations, there are 3 main ecm mode which would matter for game, noise jamming, repeater jamming and drfm.

And how is ECM going to work in the game relative to what we have now? I’m not asking about specific modes or specs.

But right now you can notch any missile with 90 degrees turn and application of chaff at basically any distance. This is especially true for non-MICA missiles.

Let’s consider two ends of a spectrum.

First let’s just consider Gaijin implements ECM and it takes our current missiles and their defeat ability and makes it even easier. This takes missiles that are already too easy to defeat from a realism perspective and amplifies the issue.

On the other end of the spectrum let’s consider that ECM allows Gaijin to reduce notch angles to basically perfection in a vacuum, reduce the current effectiveness of chaff to basically the notch gate we have without chaff, and then uses ECM to open that notch gate back up to what we currently have. So we end up with another situation where new players have to master an entirely new mechanic to get back to the effectiveness we currently have today. Or they can play a flat map with multipathing. Or if they remove it then novice players get farmed for kills even faster and harder than they already do.

No one said it was lol

It’s the highest br I like to go bc it’s still fun.

One interesting change would be with EAD, they are essentially jammer smashed into the chaff catridge, they have a limited battery life, like 5 seconds or something, hence to effeciently fool a missile, you have to time these EAD dispensing correctly, if you do early the missile would just re lock you again, do too late it will proxy on you.

With this gaijin can make that you can carry only a limited amount of these, because they are expensive af irl, hence essentially punishing repeated bad usage of these EADs

Not only that but you would also have to go to side aspect to make them viable, not strictly notching.

Now for other jammers, if a missile gets jammed, it can go in HOJ, hence the targeted plane would have to maneouvre to get rid of the missile

For jammers there is noise jamming mode too, used by dedicated EW aircraft, but can also be used by other normal aircrafts too, which would deny the enemy fire control solution for any aircraft other than the jamming (emmiting) aircraft, this might be good while teaming up, but its addition to the game depends how powerfull gaijin makes it, like how many aircraft will get noise jammed by a single pod/main radar, the range, burn through range, coverage etc.

A limited amount of aircraft being effected would help create a healthier gameplay, a high number would just force even more cramped wvr meta

What i am not sure is that noise jamming effects x amounts of planes or any amounts of planes in x coverage

And once again we are getting back to core question though of whether or not ECM environment will make ARH missiles more or less reliable than the current environment? This is critical gameplay decision and it appears most rhetoric on the forums will focus on “realism good” side of things but then when you look at where the actual player numbers are and what people are choosing to do it appears that realism is not the panacea that forum posters make it out to be.

This last patch solved a lot of long standing issues for a lot of planes and yet it is probably one of the shortest lived patches in terms of top tier player count.

  1. Flankers finally received some kind of flight performance. The plane can turn now and not obliterate it’s speed. Thrust vectoring is now a pretty usable gimmick.

  2. Eurofighter received extra AMRAAM and received the best possible version of it’s radar. For months Eurofighter players have been extremely vocal about how poor the radar was. Now their radar is the best one in the game. This is coupled with an HMD that displays all radar contacts and all friendlies…so it’s total situational awareness is the best in sim and not by a small margin.

  3. Gripen-E flight model is basically the same as the Gripen-C and Gripen-A flight models in spite of the plane being significantly heavier than either. The same can be said for the F-18E.

  4. The Golden Eagle received extra AMRAAMs as well. The only thing it could potentially receive is EPAWs or possibly upgraded engines. It’s overall flight performance is not great compared to Eurocanards but it’s broadly comparable to the new heavier Flanker flight model in terms of turn performance.

  5. AESA radars are now the norm at the highest tiers.

The realism minded player might think that this narrowing of performance gaps would create a mode more centered around BVR combat and lead to terrain oriented maps being more popular. Instead most games are going to be Denmark or maybe Sinai. Most players still rely mainly on multipathing to counter missiles.

Or they rely on the new technique that has became more popular which is the king their plane into a flying iron dome system and using their MRAAMs to intercept other MRAMMs; the iron dome defense. Most people agree this is a pretty horrible mechanic but it’s something that is also representative of even more modern higher end missiles like IRIS-T.

Eagles didn’t have any engine upgrades (at least pertaining to more thrust) 🫣, that’s more of a Strike Eagle thing. Blame the 'Muricans for hyper focusing on the F-22 at the time.
