Is Top Tier Sim Finally Dead?

No thanks.

Mouse joystick is more than adequate. However, you should make sure to use “STANDARD” mode and not “Simplified” as simplified limits roll and pitch.

I shill my control layout (has no bindings for radar or missiles, but gives pretty decent camera and fine-grained rudder control: WT Live // Controls by RunaDacino)

I love sim for grinding tech trees. Im a Ground Rb player. Bombing bases and killing Ground targets. The people left playing sim are sweatys 😓

This labelling never made sense for me.

Aren’t the people who play the game as if a job (grinding) “sweatier” than those who play the game mode for intrinsic rewards (having fun)?

dogfights just do not happen at these higher br brackets anymore. 13.7 is the last decent sim br. at 13.7 every missile fired is important, the only true missile bus at the tier is the su27sm which isnt fit for BVR so it cancels out. at 14.3/14.7, youve got su30sm/sm2 which just completely overwhelms anything it faces. there is no reward in flying with a full hotas/vr setup when all youre doing is staring at your radar screen and making sure you dont crash into the ground.
there is just no point in playing 14.7. even in the su30sm2 its just straight up boring and unrewarding.

It’s funny how blue side players have dried up over the past year or so.
When Su-27SM was getting stomped by F-15C + F-16C everyone was saying that RU players just need to learn how to play their plane. Where are those same players now that the shoe is on the other foot?

This thing just reads like some Redfor glaze.

“Now that most glorious redfor is stomping inferior weak bluefor jets, they are to scared to face the fury of the united peoples union of flankeropia”

Having seen the Redfor community and how many of them are duelists it’s a small community of very good players.

So 5 dudes/dudets in flankers carrying 10 or so missiles (missiles that are better then amraam mind you) can wipe out entire lobbies of casual bluefor players.

I mean…this was the kind of rhetoric coming from predominantly USA-players around a year to two years ago. Where did they all go?

This is like 1 dude.

I already answered you above the word wall Reddit screenshots didn’t really add anything.

Really just seems like you’re trying to make a petty gotcha moment out of something that’s not that deep.

It is actually 2 different dudes. I accidently cropped name on 1 of them. But also this attitude was not uncommon amongst blue players around 1-2 years ago when most games had blue players outnumber red large margins.

Look at all the available Flanker games. On a Sunday.

Ok?

You still haven’t said anything new.

It just seems like a fun time to me. I’ve had fun in the F15C recently. I wouldn’t call it inferior. I would say that it is has it’s weaknesses. But it isn’t trash. https://youtu.be/EWb1GNPau5M?si=_yS8IaV1HFgINjjd

That’s great for you.

Then they should make dedicated VR/ Hotas lobbies.

It’s pretty much equivalent to cheating, as it’s rigging the game severely in your favor.

How open track is literally free

Anyone with a camera on their rig can use it.

The Hotas is understandable but my Hotas wasn’t even all that expensive and it does the job

You would be surprised how many people had this sentiment back then.
TBH I think it was mostly because those people didn’t have red side aircraft so they just assumed it was skill issue.

I have a feeling that modern aerial warfare is just not very fun unless you want to sweat operating a radar and weapons system.

At least, not if it is set up the same way as Vietnam-era or late cold war technology tier

I mean, current A2A war in e.g. Ukraine is almost exclusively BVR, at ranges of 50 km+.
Mostly “see R-37 - turn away”. Only WVR combat is F-16s and Hinds gunning down deepstrike UAVs;
the few aerial skirmishes of 2022 happened only because it was a rushed all-in assault and not “steady state warfare” with a frontline.

Perhaps India-Pakistan was different, but probably similar, as it is even more “steady state”.

edit: to be fair, the arrival of 120s has also had the effect that flankers need to fire A2G from 50-70km now too, because “see 120 - turn away” is also true.

but R-37s are a beast I heard lol

irl the systems that we have in game are probably a lot more potent as well
