Is there a reason to not J out when my spaa sees a top tier heli?

Just wondering. Since the heli is fully immune to anything i throw at it, why should i not just J out and go to the next game?

You could target as much of his ammunition as possible and scare him a bit before jing out since you wont hit him, but you can at least try to protect some of your teammates by targeting its ordinance. But as in a 1v1 engagement yeah, there is no point in giving a ldircm heli that is played correctly (staying low, multipathing and or notching) spawn points for free the way it is implemented atm.

I’m in the same situation but it’s a lot worse, as a tank main I don’t even know there is a heli watching me. At least you get warned before you die bro

That is basically the best i can hope for.

Top tier spaa is already a J out sim since there is no point in playing spaa if another one of already up.

which is why its also important to warn your teammates of heli and planes (trhough t-6-1 and chat) so the people that are not in an engagement and that have time to check can see if they see the heli/plane (line of sight), if those fired and smoke immediately, sometimes making half of the helis instantly dumped ordinance not hit. Its unlikely but it still helps since everyone gets the marker on the compass (enable compass in 3rd person view btw) for the aerial threat and its type. its just a (lets call it workflow) that i think people playing spaa need to get used to. But well on the other hand theres very little time until those hit and a lot of times theres just multiple aerial threats up so its impossible keeping track of those and the ground stuff around you at the same time. But it can help for allies to chose positioning that doesnt give them sightlines especially to helis since for those it takes a long time to change angles and/or smoke.

Yeah also doesnt help a lot that with lots of nations youre already kinda useless if russia is in your team and just anyone spawns a free pantsir since those missiles hit most targets much quicker than yours and your only target would be hard evading fixed wings at medium to long ranges.

I’m assuming you’re using an SPAA with IR missiles?

You can still fire at the munitions, they actually give a reasonable amount of SL and RP when destroyed.

Safety in numbers, it gives you a bigger chance of not being the one that is targeted by the enemy aircraft. It also reduces the risk of any single SPAA being overwhelmed by a large amount of munitions fired in a short time as you can help each other by shooting down the munitions and the aircraft firing them.

They are immune to ARH as long as they dont hover at super high.

So, basically hope the heli kills everyone else while you try to take out their missiles. Then sit there and wait for them to do it again.

Incorrect, i have multiple times hit a Heli while it was stationary on the ground because it landed after i fired at it. It’s harder yes, but not impossible by any means.

You do have the option of not being a stationary fish in a barrel, you can move and hide. You can also fire at the actual helicopter.

moving is limited on most maps. True, i could set in a hole and wait until the heli player gets bored.

I try to sometimes. but after all of my missiles miss, im kind of not able to do much.

true, if the heli player is sitting still and scoped in while ignoring the warnings yelling at him, he can get hit.

Which SPAA are you talking about here? It’s kind of hard to give tips without knowing the vehicle you’re using.

The CLAWS.

Absolutely bro, at my fingertips

Welp, just got done with another match. Top tier heli spawned and was immune.

I just sat and watched lol.

All he had to do and move to the left or right a bit to avoid dying.

I haven’t played that one yet myself.

I’ve however recently started playing the Swedish NASAMS 3 (TADS) that start with the same missiles and so far i’ve found that it helps by putting the first launcher down relatively early in or near spawn and then driving the radar away (it’s small and fast) to a better position where you can put up the second launcher nearby.

The radar is relatively easy to hide compared to contemporaries and the first launcher in spawn is good for distracting any aircraft that might already be up when you spawn in so that you can drive to a better position.

The CLAWS launcher vehicles are also smaller than the NASAMS so they should be easier to hide than the NASAMS launchers, comparatively at least.

Server replay link?

okay, how does this allow me to hit them?

I do go and set them far apart when the map allows so im usually okay at hiding.

He just sat at the heli pad, pop up to fire Limurs, then sat back down to get more.

You fired 4 missiles total against the helicopter, all from the same spot and the same conditions and none of them during the same volley and then you gave up.

Place your second launcher as well and not only one and fire from both, that way the missiles come from slightly different angles and have slightly different conditions and thus chance to hit. Fire one missile from each launcher during the same volley and don’t sit there and wait to see if the first hit or not, you have more than enough missiles in two launchers and ammo boxes to not worry about ammo that much.

just be lucky bro

A strategy thats 99% luck in regards to timing isnt a strategy.

Because current map designs allows for that.

With what ?

I highly doubt having another missile coming slightly more left/right would somehow cancel out multipath or the fact the the missile cant see the heli at that height.

okay, will try to spam out 8 missiles next time i see one.

also, is it really enough ammo if i am supposed to be trying to take out several missiles too?
