I was playing Germany and noticed that the Radkampfwagen 90, compared to other wheeled vehicles with similar stats, is sitting way higher, without thermals, at 10.0.
Is there any reason for that?
Compared to something similar like the Type 16P, which does have thermals and an LWS/LEM at 9.3, it’s honestly just worse. The Italian Centauro I 105 is also sitting at 9.3, has thermals as well, and even DM23 APFSDS — and all of these have the same 105 mm gun. Even the Chinese PTL02 at 9.0 comes with a 100 mm gun, a laser rangefinder, and thermals.
Meanwhile, the Radkampfwagen 90 basically gets punished for… what exactly?
Yes, it has the DM33 APFSDS dart, but that doesn’t help a lot either. The Schottenpanzerung (layered armor plates) only helps against small cannon fire, but not really against APFSDS. And on top of everything, the Radkampfwagen is really big. Another huge downside is the extremely slow turret traverse of only 16.8°/sec (max = 24.0°/sec), which just makes the whole thing feel even worse at 10.0.
how is it any step above above all the 9.7 wheeled tank destroyers dude, stop pretending it’s somehow justified at a higher br despite not having thermals. please explain how it’s better than ZLT11, type 16, rooikat mttd, or the centauro 105 r.
Mobility that clowns on anything around it’s BR coupled with good firepower will always send a vehicle way up. See the EBRs for illustration.
In our case, we’re at the point where the rad can largely ignore terrain penalties, unlike most other wheeled vehicles.
And it’s armour is actually very good for a light tank, only the Type 16 comes close.
Light Tanks balance is generally pretty whack, but the rad going down would be atrocious.
explain how it’s anymore survivable than any other wheeled tank destroyer again lol, if you shoot a bad spot you don’t hit anything it’s not special in that regard despite what you imagine.
okay so in reality, it’s mobility is great but so is all the other wheeled tds besides the m1128 and they’ll spot you and shoot you with the same or in many cases a better round because they see you first.
Have you considered how the Rad90 can ignore a fair number of autocannons from the side when many others are shredded by heavy machine guns and 20mm HVAP/APDS? If you’re getting shot by big guns in any wheeled tank, you have screwed up royally.
yes thermals aren’t useful at all, again, it’s no better in any tangible way than the 9.7 lot and it’s worse than the other 10.0. Your attempt at a strawman followed by your ad hominem really helps your argument.

Having a different opinion then you makes me a “one faction andy” sure buddy, I’m not the person making personal attacks lol, and you typically focus on a vehicles weaknesses yes that’s how debating works fyi. You act like it has 1200 HP or something I mean when in reality it’s got like 180 on the Vextra 105 while weighing 2 more tons and having a worse round and no thermals. But hey go on insulting people that’s how you win arguments.
That’s objectively wrong. Rad90 is notably faster to accelerate and maintains higher top speed off roads, has the best protection for all wheeled tanks in the game by far and retains great firepower for 10.0 BR. The soft characteristics (gun depression around the tank, optics, etc) are also very good in comparison to VEXTRA and M1128. It outclasses 9.7 BR wheeled tanks by enough of a margin to fit 10.0 BR comfortably.
