Is the Su-57 really worse than the F-22?

really helpful,
saying someone is wrong isnt correcting them

if you were to correct him you would say what DL the F-22 uses

how helpful…

that’d be too much to ask i guess; kek

You’ve got it backwards, the F-22 had its own proprietary stealthy DL system IFDL, the F-35 has a newer version called MADL, the thing with the F-22 is that it was only able to receive Link 16 and without a special communication pod that had to be carried by another plane it can’t send Link 16. However F-22 is getting upgrades to let it have built in datalink compatibility with other aircraft

The radar and avionics of the F-22 can be modernized and upgraded. The platform of the F-22 and its aerodynamics in comparison to the F-35 is significantly better and has a far greater potential for future upgrades. Just like the F-15 and its later variants. The F-35 will remain in the same league as the F-16 was back in the day if not worse in terms of comparing to other 5 gen fighters. The F-35 at the moment has the upper hand in terms of numbers but not quality and potential.

F-22 produced back in mid 2000s in terms of avionics and electronic components will not be at the same quality as planes produced in 2024, but electronics, avionics and radar can be easily upgraded and replaced the platform on the other hand not.

As for the Su-57m i do believe there are a number of planes produced (2-5) of course that might not be serial production.

you just ignored the biggest problem the F-22 has:

it isnt produced anymore, so maintaining them is expensive and if any airframes are lost, for whatever reason, they are gone

Well yes that is true, but the production has been canceled due to political reasons and military industrial complex interests. It will be much harder to start producing the F-22 from scratch at the moment and given the rise in prices of materials might never happen. At the moment the F-35 has the upper hand for sure because it can be produced even if many losses occur whilst the F-22 can not be produced in mass numbers at the moment.

F-22 production will never be restarted, for an incredibly long list of reasons. Yes, it can’t be mass produced “at the moment”, but it never will in the future either.

The F-22 is a dying program receiving upgrades utilising technology developed for the F-35 to bridge the gap until the US can field their next generation of fighters; so as to say it’s relevance is steadily fading and any issues it has also lose importance too.

The Su-57M remains out of mass production and over time the actual threat it could pose if mass produced also steadily fades as more advanced designs come out, meaning Russia will have to begin considering their next fighter possibly before even getting the Su-57 out in a relevant quantity to begin replacing their Su-35s in a frontline combat role.

Comparing the two aircraft seems very pointless.

True statements about the F-22 fading away but the F-35 is even worse in that respect to the F-22 and the Su-57. Yes the Su-57s design is also fading away because of its slow production, however Su-57 has far greater potential in upgrading than the F-35. The comparison was between the F-22 and Su-57 to the F-35. There are six gen fighter coming into play, which the Su-57 will have to compete against, unless Russia comes up with a new 6 gen fighter and only produce a stop gap quantity of Su-57s.

not realy because those two aircraft will be facing eachother when gaijin adds them
(not necessarily the F-22 MLU and the Su-57M but at least their earlier versions)

The F-35 will be the most common 5th gen aircraft, that 80% of nations will be receiving. Any stealth aircraft will primarily face up the F-35A and B, with other matchups taking on a more minor role. It’s not completely useless as a comparison but it certainly does not reflect the reality of what they will face.

the one major flaw in your logic is that the F-35 isnt the most hyped up plane in the history of the USAF

and from what i have seen more ppl tend to care more about the F-22 than the F-35

Any upgrade potential the Su-57 has is due to the large internal volume and any inadequacies it originally came with, with the added benefit of Sukhoi engineers being able to twiddle their thumbs and tinker with the design while they wait for it to enter a factory. With how Gaijin and the game doesn’t weigh RCS so heavily into consideration it will be substantial performer.

The F-35 is designed as a complete package that is still being continually upgraded albeit the painful internal bay constraints as it rolls out of factories in quantity. The lack of weight on RCS and sensors will hurt how it performs in game, with the added poor performance of the Aim-120 and Aim-9X compared to newly designed weapons.

Well any plane in its original form has inadequacies , SU -57 is no exception. The F-35 has an advantage in RCS. Yes the avionics and electronic packages are very good, but that is because US has traditionally produced great avionics and electronic packages. Those can be installed in F-15s and 16s. As you already mentioned the internal bay constraints, what about maneuverability?

Look at the flight performance of the F-35 it does not compare to the Su-57 and F-22 . It is dependent on mass numbers, AWACS aircraft, data link , satellites, radars strategically positioned around the world rather than excelling as an aircraft. Those things hold true for any aircraft for that matter.

As for our game, yes RCS will most probably not matter that much.

75? 8 tech trees, so 80%.
I do get what you mean though.

So basically nothing that’s actually modeled in the game

That could be modelled at some point.
Wouldnt be suprised if they will give A-50 awacs uplink to Su-57 and etc, while it cant IRL…

We were just discussing F22 F-35 and Su57, but you never know in the future gajiin can add AWACS other features like reduced RCS, we already have a stealth helli.

We love propagating F-35 supremacy. It’s the only way.
