Is the Su-57 really worse than the F-22?

So it is okay to quote a test shoot on a cooperative target for the amraam but not for the r-37?

Yeah no double standards here

my point is amraam is really mid, prob could be a 200km kill at max, compared to something like old r37 with a 300km one

Range is one thing but the radar on the missile and how it turns is second lol

r37m from what i know has a really powerful seeker, acquiring a 5m2 (f16 sized as in game) target at 40km. when it turns to turning, its rated same as a r27. sure its not a dogfight missile and would struggle to turn in first 5 km but then it would be virtually impossible to outpull it.

min launch range 3.7km
“Overload of affected targets, g 8” ← stated by few forums

su-35 limits it’s range max to 200km because of radar being used so only mig-31 dedicated platform once the fight enters close range (visual) the mig-31 with those missiles would be a flying brick

So it’s as powerful as the Aim-54? The Aim-54’s seeker can pick up a target drone from ~39km which is half the size of the F-16 to my knowledge.

r-27 is rated the same

“It can detect a target with radar cross-section (RCS) 3m2 at up to 350 km when searching in a narrow FOV, 200 km otherwise.[6][7][8] In track-while-scan mode, the radar can engage two targets with semi-active radar homing missiles”

3m2 is still a decently small rcs. bigger jets like f15 will be much likely detected earlier

even tho r37m max range is 400km, you wouldnt shoot if the target is more than 300km away (like aim120a in game can go max 80km, but you wont shoot it at 50+ km)

i was unable to find this anywhere online. could you link me where it says this?

my comment on this thread from the day the post was made got flagged as off topic by a butthurt commieboo despite it being on topic and my exact thoughts.

its actually pathetic how mad people are on this thread damn

What its this nonsense? The Range of R-37M on Su-35s has nothing to do with Radar. But the characteristic of the plane. A R-37m Shoot from a mig31 near mach 3 at 25km alt. Has different energy than it being shoot from a Su-35s going mach 2 at 20km alt.

but also with radar…

“The R-37M was designed for a different type of aircraft – the MiG-31BM Foxhound. This supersonic interceptor operates with the N007M radar. In Ukraine, Russian combat aviation actively uses the R-37M mounted on the Su-35 Flanker-E fighter, which is, however, equipped with an Irbis-E radar. It is the radars that contribute to the missile’s contradictory effectiveness on the battlefield.”

"The Zaslon-M (mig radar)radar operates at a higher power level than the Irbis-E (su radar). It flaunts a peak power output of approximately 400 kW, a stark contrast to the Irbis-E’s peak power output of 20 kW. This increased power allows the Zaslon-M to detect targets from farther distances and with enhanced accuracy. It also enables the radar to penetrate electronic countermeasures more effectively, making it more resilient in a combat scenario. "

work it with what carries it and you have a target slution of less distance… use google man

useless but they got power outputs right… Funny how you dont check facts stated from multiple sources just pick one that suits you lol

peak power output of zaslon M is unknown, i would like to see a actually credible source stating its 400kw because thats ABSURD amounts of elec required to run it.

Picture of Irbis-E detecting target further than 200km

peak power isnt really that useful alone, avarge power output would be a better indicator for the performance of the radar.

True but a lot of people that work in the military news claim that it is capable of it i prefer to use data they provide then use no data at all ^^

Well even f-16 can do that to a target high up and big as hell if you tell me what Irbis detected then i will be thankful.

trust me, you wont get 400kw power output from 2 rd33.

it was a target drone to test the radar, so i dont know exactly

best guess i have seen is that since the manufacturer of the IRBIS says it can detect targets with an RCS of 3m^2 at 350 to 400km, that the target drone was likely at a RCS of around 1m^2

They can charge up a battery or something over time, which can then release short burst of 400kW for radar

400kw is still a HECK LOT. i dont think so radar can be cooled at such high powers
