then which kill are you talking about specifically? what launched it? what missile? what target?
i think he is getting confused between “max range” according to those conditions, and the optimal “max range” of 400km against a headon target at high altitude (which is also how other missiles max ranges are advertised)
If I’m not wrong that its the video of a Su-35s Shooting at a Mig29 flying at 10km alt over 60km+ away. And two Su-25 flying low at 2100 km alt. I remember that the su-35s manage to kill two plane in that video 1 mig29 and 1 su-25.
Good look trying to archive a kill in game with R-77-1 at 60km+ or 80km like the other video going around.
Also i don’t know why people is still trying to argue with a Russian hater like AUS. No matter if you show him cam video of the kill. He would call it fake. And instead Believe in sh** like Ghost of Kiev.
From what i remember reading. There is like 5 time confirmed case of R-37m kills. Two from mig31, Two from su-35s and 1 from Su-30sm/sm2. Su-57 don’t have confirmed ones. But even UK intelligence acknowledge that Russia its using the plane as a platform for them or the variant that should fit on Su-57 bays (izd810). .
Ok, so, while I’m still waiting to receive some improvements on F22 RCS results, I got some MBB Lampyridae numbers that you guys might be interested in - broadly - discussing RCS features.
3D model is based on the 3d view available online, with exhaust closed (should be a round hole) and intake closed using just a flat plates (seen in a photo of the proto/scale model with the bubble-ish canopy). Splitter plate omitted and some other simplifications as to not waste so much time with the model.
So, in short, this is pretty much what we would see if Novalogic did a “MBB Lampyridae” game like they had for the f16, f22, comanche, etc. in the 90s – a very polygonal/faceted construction.
Unmentioned parameters = program default
- Solution type = sbr+
- Aircraft is entirely made of PEC (perfect conductor, to evaluate shape alone)
- Frequency = 8GHz
- Excitation = Incoming planar wave, full sphere (full 360 degree with full ±90 from “Equator”, step/resolution is every 10 degrees)
- Boundary = Perf E
- PTD+UTD wedge correction (basically more intricate diffraction and cavity calculations instead of relying on specular reflection almost entirely)
- Creeping wave calculation off
Note 1: with radiation: infinite sphere to simulate far field condition, resulted the same as without it – expected as incoming planar wave is supposed to do the same.
Note 2: with creeping wave on. Resulted in slightly higher min db @ -46.89. Overall image looks the same and basically the same max db @ 35.84
Rectangular plot for the full sphere (± 180 horizontally, ± 90 vertically), we see the lowest RCS at ~40 degrees up from a coaltitude headon, where EM waves will hit the very angled radome/canopy section, as well as a very angled fuselage and rudder. The least angled surfaces would be the wings upper surface. A direct headon is worse for RCS is this case than slightly offset positions. Rear aspect RCS is also on the blue-ish side, though one oughta remember inlet and exhaust were completely disregarded in the model.
Worse cases were when looking directly from the sides, doing a full 360, it’s full of red spikes, probably from looking almost directly at the fuselage and wings surfaces (high specularity).
RCS spikes super imposed on the 3d model (near aircraft center and blue = lower Db, big spike and red = high Db)
3d model itself, showing how low poly it is and the closed inlet.
Anyhow, we see from this how wildly RCS variation can be, even for “simple” highly faceted shapes at a same given frequency.
217km air to air kill is fiction cooked up by tv personalities and propagandists
The reason why the F-22 is way better than the SU-57 is actually really simple.
The F-22 pilot can chillax, drink a juice, has some nice jazz in the background, press 1 button and fire 2 missiles from a gazillion miles away, take a nap till it makes impact.
The SU-57 is going to be pulling insane amounts of G load, having its RWR blare constantly, has people screaming over the radio, Rita having a heart attack, and their head flying off from all the swiveling they’re doing.
no
grow up
that is, if it appeared in the American media that the F-22 shot down another fighter at a range of 217 km, would it be true?
i would want to see real proof not he said she said claims
with a amraam? lmfao
Ever heard of this literary term called:" Hyperbole"?
whats that can you eat that /s
against a fully cooperative drone? lmfaooo. also “longest known missile shot”, doesnt mention range lmao.
amraam is kinda the worst modern air to air missile currently made by the top nations (other than r77-1), this is due to the fact it uses the base single pulse solid motor so most of its speed will be bled by drag in the first parts of its flight. in contrast other missiles like meteor uses a throttleable ramjet for a very efficient flight, others use dual pulse motors which ignites when the missile is close to target/ the missile itself becomes slow hence retaining its energy back
i could also bring up the 300km base r37 kill against a cooperative friendly target like the one you mentioned (note :- this was the base r37 not the r37m used rn)
that was a shot on a subsonic drone rather than supersonic targets like many test so the missile travel distance is significantly longer
range is classified so they dont publish the range but if there is a widely known missile shot from before the date that was published its safe to assume that shot was longer
really doesnt matter much tbh, the missile itself travels a lot more in comparision to the target
and what is that?
again as i said, its a fully cooperative target, in real life you will find manoeuvring targets in which something like amraam which gains and loses speed in the first parts of it flights will struggle
So it is okay to quote a test shoot on a cooperative target for the amraam but not for the r-37?
Yeah no double standards here
my point is amraam is really mid, prob could be a 200km kill at max, compared to something like old r37 with a 300km one
Range is one thing but the radar on the missile and how it turns is second lol
