I have essentially all of the top-tier jet platforms, so here’s my take:
It’s not bad at all. But it won’t net you high score matches consistently due to your limited loadout. You have to be cautious to avoid wasting your shots.
Survivability/defense is above average, while offense is below.
It’s a jet that handles well being in defensive situations, especially the British gripen with R-darters (derbys but tiny tiny bit worse). Best energy retention of any 13.7 and a ton of countermeasures.
The Swedish one is less “specialized” in being defensive and fighting at shorter ranges, but you have missiles with more range. Arguably worse just by the fact that you trade efficiency in high probability of kill ranges for extra range in BVR, but the Gripen isn’t a great platform for BVR due to the subpar climb rate/acceleration and speed.
It’s not in a fantastic spot right now, mind you… There are better choices for the meta, and by meta I mean getting as many kills as fast as possible so your team snowballs over the enemy.
It shouldn’t be lowered in BR. But if BRs were decompressed, some other 13.7s could be put higher than the Gripen to make it fair
You are like the only other person I met besides myself that haven’t trashed the Darters. I personally think they fit the Grippen well, but people want 120 spam and refuse to actually understand another playstyle than “fly high, Ponyboy”
My train of thought is that unskilled players will do better with aim120. HOBS is irrelevant for them because they won’t do it, they constantly disregard their own plane safety and go all offense, so on average, all their missile launches will be more dangerous with aim120s since on medium-long range they have higher PK.
Because of that, when they get higher kill counts, it’s probably just because they had luck with their “BVR” launches and come to the conclusion that aim120 = best fox3, when in practice, the aim120 is only better than others on ranges where one can already easily defend themselves by getting into a notch.
Any 1v1 engagement between competent players will end up at very close ranges while launching at high off bore angles to run back into the notch ASAP, sometimes even resulting in a merge and/or fox2 kill.
The British gripen C will absolutely club the Swedish one in a 1v1 because the r-darters will allow it to get a much better position even when starting the initial engagement with a worse/ defensive position due to the inicial range advantage of aim120s
Obviously, AirRB is not just 1v1s and HOBS fest, the aim120 are still great in the meta since they are usually the ones getting a few kills early game to start the snowball. They are still decent, but they make for a more boring gameplay so its my least favourite pick.
Getting aim120 kills feels like the enemy did something wrong.
Getting r-darter (and others) kills feels like I did something right.
My point is the jet is fine? Very much able to be competitive? You can’t turn this around because it doesn’t work both ways. Nobody is saying F-15E doesn’t beat Gripen when both pilots are same skill (ie, if F-15E ACTUALLY uses his advantages)
The point is the Gripen, with just a SMALL amount of skill injection… is PERFECTLY FINE.
i mean everyone has some bias, im not excluded either, but brief look at current 13.0s and even some 13.3 and its clear as day that Gripen C is nowhere near that ballpark.
Some of us, very little, as we speak objectively on the game’s balance and play a wide variety of vehicles. Some of us, it’s all of their talking points.
Competitive at evading missiles since it cant counter attack much with FOX-3 or missiles in general.
It does, any plane that isnt a F-16 and can carry more than x4 FOX-3 will win againts the Gripen.
Sorry, you lack the experience at top tier if you are saying that, or at least you didnt fight someone that isnt just bad, the Gripen is only good at fighting the first 4 FOX-3, after that it will be an easy target to everything else since you cant force the enemy to go defensive, it will be rushed, and will die.
What kind of argument is this? I am speaking as air RB as a whole, this includes the fact the average player is terrible. That is assumed from the jump to begin with…
Gripen won’t win against a GOOD rafale/eurofighter pilot sure… but it takes NOT A LOT of skill to where the gripen will win because they aren’t that mismatched. All it takes is for the gripen pilot to be a better pilot…
You have 6 missiles, 4 of wich are FOX-3 and 2 FOX-2 that are easly to flare, after that you are naked against the enemy.
It is exactly as it would go.
I dont care about your stats, you can look at mines if you want, you have a total of 5 planes than can use FOX-3s and are at 13.7 or higher, therefore, you do lack the experience at top tier.
“Players are bad = plane is good” is a bad argument, you cant say that a vehicle is good because people at that BR are retards.
Please point at the plane that would lose againts a Jas39 if both pilots have the same skill (F-16´s doesnt count as previously stated)
This doesn’t matter. Air RB is chaotic and it takes very little skill to win over your opponent as long as you have the skill advantage. The Gripen is at worst SLIGHTLY worse than the 14.0 jets regarding the current state of compression, and its faults are EASILY gotten over with just a MODICUM of skill.
I assume you lack said skill. Well, I KNOW you lack said skill because of all the nonsense drivel you spew, but this is another supporting reason for this claim…
LOL, I have a few planes at 12.7 ON UP, that a year ago, were pretty good. But here in the last year, they indeed have become WORTHLESS, sitting in the hanger. When I feel like flying them, because I love them, I use them like Microsoft Flight Simulator, lol, and fly them on our now good test flight field.
Nice wording, I liked that.
Personally, I will say this, the JF 17 doesnt have a high missile count, but I dont do badly in it, Lets just say Im luckily not one to last only 2 minutes in a BR 13 on up battle.
But I work a lot of hours and cant spend time practicing notching at altitude either. But experience since BETA days and a little research on Youtube hasnt done me bad.
I dont have a problem with the Gripens missile count, Im going to get 3 or 4 airkills in a battle, Im not one of the great ones who smoke 5-8 in a battle.
Gripen sounds good to me, Im two planes away from one, and so I cant test fly it yet, but the test flights tell me a lot about its handling, and thrust. And the radars ability to lock, some planes cant even lock on test drones.
Thank You
Which country has the strongest Gripen mate? I dont need to dominate, Im some what of a fine art expert lol, and that plane looks like a good plane thats a mental challenge to figure out how to be successful in.
Thank You
