The Type 93 is the most oppressive spaa in existence in the game. The way it just drifts around corners bangin’ EuroBeat while destroying everything in sight leaves me in equal awe and fury.

Against planes, WW2 era SPAA isn’t very strong. Planes definitely have the upper hand pretty much all the way from 1.0 till about 7.0.
Once Radar SPAAs appear, They become quite strong against planes, though I wouldnt say OP… Probably mostly somewhat fair. Though I do think Gepards and stuff with Gepard turrets/guns are a bit too strong against tanks compared to what they should be.
At top tier, especially with the new SPAAs, they are definitely stronger than air. Especially as the plane now has to either find the radar unit, or knock out multiple different vehicles to knock one player out. (Also been finding that its difficult to get weapons like Mavericks to lock on the actual alive enemies when the spawn is covered in wrecks of dead SPAA units since one SPAA player now spawns 3 different vehicles)
It was kinda towards SPAA before the current 14.3 planes came out, especially for anyone fighting Russia because the Pantsir is so much stronger than any of the other previous top tier SPAAs, Then it went a bit back towards the planes with stuff like the Rafale etc, but now its gone back towards the SPAAs a bit IMO.

1.0-7.0 SPAA is very well balanced imo. 8.3-9.7 SPAA is far too powerful. The leviathans SPAA should simply be moved to 13.0 or 14.0.

Just because CAS haters are bad at using SPAA doesn’t mean SPAA is too weak.
Really depends on precisely what nation and BR vs what nation and BR.
Too often “CAS” gets grouped together and “SPAA” gets grouped together, where reality is, there can be some pretty major deadzones in both SPAA or CAS availability forcing the use of much weaker of either.
For example, quite a few nations are forced to bring 8.3 SPAA all the way up to 9.3 where it is obviously rather weak, especially if then uptiered against 10.0/10.3 CAS.
But on the flip side, 7.3-8.3 CAS can actually struggle against 8.3 SPAA if the SPAA is smart.and there are several very good SPAA that really could do with being higher / CAS could do with a buff (Like CBUs?)

Most 8.3 radar SPAA should really be 9.0 or 9.3 anyways imo. D isecompression is the only real solution, and I think Gepards are the perfect place to start cuz they’re so problematic.
