Is overpressure realistic?

Guys be honest, what in the f*ck is up with overpressure? Is this really realistic? I know the shell has 65mm of pen and 4.77kg of TnT but still, overpressure in general seems like a very broken mechanic.
Thoughts?

To real life? Yes it is. How it is in game? No it’s not. The game has a lot of bugs and HE shells/overpressure is one of them.

Overpressure is supposed to help simulate damage caused by explosive blast waves. I personally think it isn’t well executed or makes little sense in most circumstances. I believe it replaced hull break, which I didn’t really experience personally.

Its better then hull break imo, and honestly I dont mind it. It can be buggy and isnt fully realistic, but it puts a decent place for derp HE guns and other such things.

Correct, hull break was incredibly annoying, pretend you’re driving your R3 and then all of a sudden, an APCR round penetrates your where no critical components are, and you die. Imagine being in a milk truck and one of the planks gets shot by a .50 cal, you die. Why? “Your vehicle is compromised” - I don’t know if this is really what hull break was but that’s what I think fits best, because why else would you die from being lol penned by a dart so badly that nothing happened.

In a Centauro, I was shot in the spare tire on the back of the hull with APFSDS and my hull was broken. I absolutely hated that mechanic. Warrior with the NERA add-ons was hullbroken by HEAT when shot there too. It was very, very stupid.

Yeah exactly, it’s odd that it still happens to ships though… unless that has been changed

It seems kind of hit or miss, though I don’t recall situations that seemed like it shouldn’t have worked based on the shell used.

They should bring back hull break and give each vehicle a citadel type hot box similar to ships in wows. Instead of hull breaking from dumb hits to toolboxes or mudflats like in the past rounds have to pen the citadel to break. Problem of old hull break fixed.

Overpressure should be reduced to work only of artillery sized HE

Gaijin needs add hull break as the Naval, in naval battle even the 5-inch HE shell could destroy heavy armor, but in the ground battle, it doesn’t considering structural strength.

That’s nonsense.

However we used to have hull break and a 5" he shell could destroy a PT boat with 1 hit.

Hull break was just implemented really badly. Then replaced with another bad one that only worked for so. E weapons or nations while nerfing others.

If hull break was done right it would favour all nations equally and represent the hitting power of the big guns more realistically.

Still can

yeah but not from hull break - you’d get the specific message a few years ago, and it used to work all the way down to the 85mm guns on the Soviet gunboats.

I quite honestly have less issues with overpressure compared to hull break. At the very least, in most cases you need a shell with good HE filler to do it depending on the armor face/roof you are hitting.

Yeah that’s why I specified how hull break would work and how overpressure would be limited.

You only claimed that overpressure was limited to specific guns, which is incorrect. There is also the new modules being added to tanks which addresses the empty space problems of lighter vehicles, which was what hull break attempted to address. There is no real need to bring back such a bad mechanic.

I was suggesting how it should be implemented. Not how it’s implemented. Hull break was to address space in part. It was also to represent how some guns would literally break a tank hull when hit. Eg. The conger or would Split the welds on tanks it hit. Fv5005 cracked the conquerors hull etc

Agreed. Overpressure is fine imo, just has some bugs.
