That’s fair point. I think it would make sense for modern updated flags but that’s matter of opinion.
1: There is no “Korean” client, there was a Chinese Client(Defunct), DMM(Japanese), and International Clients.
2: The Battle Flag Of Japan started in the Edo Period, 1870.
3: Korea was annexed back in 1910. Till 1945. Give you a hint a lot of Older Korean folks->stare at that flag remembering the dark past, despite what history says. Which is ignored over emotions. When the flag appears.
4: I see no reason why it should magically be “updated” Rather the flags should be done with both eras in mind such as the WW2 IJ Battle Flag/the Current Modern version of the Japanese Hinomaru Flag despite the flag being over 156 years of age.
I really shouldn’t have to give a history lecture cause all it takes is 1 Google search to figure this stuff out.

Japan maybe since current flag was only a military one, but no for USSR and Germany. The tech tree flag should be the one that most vehicles in the tech tree use, which are the current flags used. Plus USSR tree will likely receive some vehicles from post soviet countries and i really don’t see ukrainian vehicles going well under a tech tree with Ru flag…
Both were Military flags. But at least someone knows a bit of history 👍

That’s a fair point I didn’t think of. I guess i just figured other post nations would eventually get their own TT. I could see a large displeasment though. If/when they do add a machines such as that if they don’t rework the TT and put RU fed in it’s own sub tree seperating it from other post nation sub trees.

Don’t think that’s any different, but ok. Either way, it’s being used within the context to represent 2 different eras. If Gaijin wanted to be more accurate the Tech Tree flag should be half and half, the old Hinomaru and half of the present-day Hinomaru flags. While keeping the battle flag on all Interwar->WW2 air, ground and naval on the stat card.
Because Modern German Flag is quite different from WWII one? Have you ever considered that?
Whatever how different the flag is, although yeah, unlike for USSR, for Germany it would be more reasonable to have modern flag instead of censored WW2 war flag.

By the way, did the moderators delete the whole thread? Amazing the way the moderators work you are simply hiding the problem under the carpet. We as a community have done our job and informed you that there are laws in Europe for some countries to censor certain flags such as Nazi and USSR flags, because of the obvious genocidal reign, now it’s up to you to get moving and act.
The flag as used in warthunder complies with EU laws, the game could not be sold within such regions if it did not abide by them.
As far as I know, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine have laws restricting the use of the USSR flag.

As much as I’d like to lump the Soviet flag alongside the spicy pinwheel beloved of Austria’s most infamous failed painter - technically this is not true.
Context is key. It appears in history books, museums, TV documentaries - the intent is to illustrate or educate - you are not going to be thrown into a prison cell for those instances. Even in countries where the USSR is regarded as every bit as awful as 1930s/40s Germany.
Using the symbology allied to a political cause or ideology? Then you will have the legal book thrown at you in the countries you list. A video game falls quite a bit short of that (unless WT decides to embrace the bias wholesale…)
No thanks. I mostly play WW2 vehicles and strongly prefer WW2 flags.
I guess a toggle allowing you to choose which time period you want flags for is the best solution since everyone can set it to their preferences.
