It’s not like it will take a lot of effort and it a little weird seeing these legacy flags now that you have a lot of items in the TT that are post use. It’s not really a major issue if it happens or not. At the same time it’s not like it would take a lot of work for them to change it.
They could probavly have it change for games above a certain br.
I would assume it hasnt changed because it doesnt affect anything.
Soviets already have their most modern flag.
I like them as they are, it should also remind Gaijin, and the players how much mid- to low-tier has been neglected in this game. Also the Soviet Union and the Russia Federation are two different nations, therefor their falgs are not interchangeable.
This topic got nuts in the old forum.
I think they should be updated, especially Germany and Japan, but the old forum’s version of this thread taught me that arguing for this is just pissing in to the wind.
I think it’s fine as is, but if Gaijin really wanted to the could make the flag be half old flag half new flag split across diagonally, for example the upper left half of the German flag would be WW2 German and the lower right would be modern German.
I find it funny how all the nation flags in game are depicted in their WW2 versions except for China

Don’t see why they can’t have the same as USSR/Russia. Appropriate flag for the correct place in time
They already have modern Japan flag…as a replacement of the WW2 flag, in Chinese and Korean client only
USSR flag is more appropriate for the tech tree as most of vehicles are from the Soviet era and iirc the TT never said to be Russian by devs, so it can accommodate other ex-Soviet republics vehicles.
No i dont wan them at all, especially not for germany, since i mostly play ww2 german tanks.
Modern Russian vehicles does have Russian Federation Flag on their designation.
Its not hard to implement to Germany and Russia.
You do realize that the Imperial Japanese Flag was the Battle Flag Of Japan, the current Japanese flag has existed since 1868, with the only difference to the modern one being that it is lighter in tone rather than darker. To put it simply the Battle Flag->Imperial Japanese flag was the flag of Japan’s militaries not the flag of Japan as a country.
With that logic USSR can’t receive Russian Federation equipment which we already know won’t be the case.
It the whole Virginia Battle flag compared to actual Flag thing. Yes what is on the US client of the game is the Japanese military flag while in the Korean Client it the Nations flag. There is no real reason to have it not be the Nations flag other than preference.
It doesn’t really matter if it gets changed or not the only reason i brought up the suggestion is cause it takes me an extra 1 second to tell if the flag is USSR or China in a match.
Also a little weird having modern china flag with past nation flags.
Germany and Japan could do with an update, since I would argue their most desirable vehicles are from the post WW2 era, whereas most of the desirable vehicles in the USSR tree were still built in or during the USSR, the russian federation hasn’t innovated much at all in their ground or air platforms since the soviet times, as a result I think the Soviet flag could remain, whereas german and japanese flags are updated
A quick little google seach should clarify it for you. The Russian Federation filled in large part the power vacume that the Soviet Union left behind. Among other things the Russian Federation inherited much of the red army’s hardware and its military complex including industry. Among other reasons why the Russian Federation is a successor state to the Soviet Union and why there is no inconsistency with those two nations sharing the same tech tree in the current state of the game.
