I’m currently multitasking grinding the Mig 25 and the Lincoln with a 5.3 lineup and while the spitfires do fine at it’s role, the Lancasters are genuine torture.
For one it’s very slow which is horrid when competing with Pe-2s or B-17s for bases, especially when I can only do around 1/2 of its health per run. This also makes climbing a bit of a chore. Even if I could, this usually doesn’t help when the umpteenth FW 190/ Yak 3P/ ME 262 space climbs and starts cosplaying an asteroid (aka eviscerating my plane with a couple of shots). If I dive down to a lower altitude then literally everything else will maul my plane into scrap. To top it all off, the defensive armament is arguably less effective then tossing peanuts at the attackers.
Seriously it sucks to see a cool plane like this be a cruel and unusual punishment to play.
Plane issue, if your team doesn’t defend you in a heavy bomber in arcade you are 100% dead, if they do you are still probably 80% dead…
And that’s probably optimistic…
Heavy bombers are bad. Period, there are one or two that can work. But most just dont.
But Lancaster has basically no defensive turrets. It was designed for and operated at night in large formations, not during the day alone.
It lacks the meaningful defensive loadout that comes from a day-time heavy bomber (look at the B-17)
And then as a final nail in the coffin for it. They balance it around having a big bomb load which use to be relevant but hasnt been for years or for the 12000lb (which recently got nerfed) in GRB (as they refuese to put lower BR aircraft onto the split BR system)
Id instantly drop its BR down to 4.0/4.3 and I still dont think it would be good.
We’ll have to wait and see if Gaijins “bomber overhaul” does anything
