The Ki-84 is a beast though.
“the ability to do something well.” hmmm wonder what a patience test is. Oh yeah a skill.
shrug.
Trivial and pointless answer - there are “scenarios” where virtually any fighter can “energy trap” another.
How many such scenarios, and how easy they are to engineer matters a lot more than their number.
^This, this is how things are. If I’m playing anything other than a Spitfire I always try to avoid them unless I can boom and zoom then and get away without being turned on.
Back in my day the La-5/7/9’s, the Mk 2X Spits and Bearcats were absolute UFO’s. This was when they didn’t have flight models though.
Lmao
This got me dying 😂
Patience is an attribute, not a skill.
The N1K2s did not and they’re still at the wrong BR because of it.
Griffon spits always had implemented FMs
The best BF-109 is the F4 variant, but the earlier variants are also very fun. I think German fighters in the mid-late game aren’t really that great. I would say that the kings of the sky at the moment at the low-mid tiers are probably the British, with planes like the Hurricane, Spitfire MK IX, and MK 24. The US and Russia also have some very good fighters at basically every tier.
If you’re a noob, I would not recommend Germany. I feel like Russia or Britain would be a lot easier to learn.
There is, you have to play mind games to convince enemy players to get nice and close to you, while not getting shot down. This often involves dancing right in front of their guns.
All while using some of the slowest planes at their BRs, often overtiered as well.
YES! A thousand time yes!
Yeah, it kinda switches to 190’s being the best you got. Not to say they’re not good in early part of game too, just better than their counter parts.
I was actually just turn fighting a late spit, can’t remember what model, in my P-51D-30. Was a lot of fun, until an “ally” took the kill. Then I jumped a yak 3 and was doing good there and then the same “ally” and I rammed into each other because they flew out of one were and I was almost blacked out turning…
The change of Minengeschoss 20mm (HE yield, fuse nerf, rof nerf, alot more drag) also contributed that 109’s are mediocore at best. Up to 2020 or something they ruled Air RB. But several changes were made. The 109 just has one 20mm engine cannon, which was fine before the change. But since rof, damage, fuse sensitivity and drag has changed for the worse, it took alot away from 109s. Your effective range and ability for quick deflection shots while dogfighting is greatly reduced. 109’s were once headon kings, now you have to avoid it at any costs, cause your 20mm shells fall out of the sky after short distance and often won’t fuse on lighter parts of the enemy airframe.
While other planes in relation have better firepower now. British mainly…Brits always had the better FM on their Spit, but weak cannons. Since Hispanos got buffed, Spits are fotm imho. Second are cal50, which still have a very great trajectory and do alot damage.
When I remember the past I also guess that the engine overheats alot quicker now. Even with 100% coolers you can’t overheat for long now.
Another issue is the multirole capability. The second branch of War Thunder in Ground RB. The best 109 there is probably the 109K4 at 5.7 with that 500kg bomb. And even that is just a joke when you compare it to other nations strike fighters or fighters. So for both Air RB and GRB the 109 lost its edge. The time of pure axis 109 teams (with support of IT, Jap) nuking allies is over, actually since 2 years. Was fun while it lasted. Miss the times Minengeschoss ruled the sky.
The G-series 109s are very suited to the firepower meta with their gunpods and 30mm, play em at 5.3 a lot.
The J21s are sad tbh, though. I can still do fairly well in them, but imo they should be pushed down, probably to ~4.3? They came in at 3.7, not 4.3 lol
Surprised to see nobody mention the XP-50, that thing chills my bones whenever I take out the BF-109 F4 or G2.
Bf109 G6 is most handheld airplane in German TT.
30mm minengeschoß go brr™
20mm is better, you get more ammo and its still pretty devastating. Unless you want to hunt bombers. Then 30mm and they go down after single click :D
Nah, 30mm superior. Nukes fighters in a single pass, and you get three with gunpods.
AB gunpod meta
AB gunpod meta
But I hate 30mm rate of fire and drop. Imma stick with 20mm
Fair enough. 'Least in AB its not as much of an issue, though.
