And on account of this, you’ll be faced with stuff like this which is pretty discouraging to anyone who wants to try it:
No. It was easier to get a game in certain BR ranges. That’s it. If you played anything other than premiumville or absolute top tier you would literally sit all night without a game, which is why it remains with a rotation
You got into matches pretty comfortably at premium BRs or not, but carry on.
It does take longer IRL because of how stabilizers are modelled in-game (just giving a huge elevation rate boost when close to the aim point)
But also most modern vehicles from like the late 90s onwards have even more advanced systems than just auto-ranging the gun. They’re able to track ground targets, display a lead indicator, and in some really modern tanks like the K2 even automatically aim and fire at a target designated by the commander or gunner
indeed
It used to be like that, the skill ceiling was a lot higher and better. Now it’s point and click as you write.
Pretty sure modern tanks compensate for parallax as well, along with dozens of other variables like wind speed, air temperature, humidity, altitude, barrel wear, barrel heat, Etc, etc. all the gunner dose is keep the crosshair on the target, push a button and the fire control system adjusts the gun to hit that point automatically. Only difference is we have a mouse instead of a joystick or dual levers.
Sure but where do you draw the line? should we have realistic repair times? Pretty sure it takes more than 20secs to fix a thrown track. most of the games are at ranges where you can basically just boresight someone with an APFSDS anyway.
What about doing more events? Not the massive grind for X ones but just fun ones like the “battle for the Atlantic” something like a ground zero Nuclear strike where the EMP has knocked out electrical systems and tanks have to fight with their backup systems as thermals, LRFs etc are all knocked out… in fact that could happen after someone nukes, I hate having a game end in 5 mins cuz someone spawn camps in a rat tank then nukes the place, that could be a way to let everyone else actually have a match.
Okay all weapons now removed. The only way to kill enemy tanks is to ram the into the water. Good luck on desert maps
Sands of Sinai becomes tank Dakar rally, winner of the map is the tank that survives the endurance race
I barely use my LRF as most engagements at top tier are below 800m, where sabot basically travels at a straight line because gaijoob thinks modern MBTs battling in urban environments is normal
remove tank engines and automatic transmissions, makes driving too easy, force to player to push the tank
Agree, most of the time you dont need it, it only comes in handy in some of those situations like long range battles, knowing instantly the distance is ok but the gun automatically adjust to it it just takes away some of the skill factor.
WT should have less features like this, stay on manual controls, not help players with getting kills.
Before the modern stuff it was like this, when they added MBT70 it all changed, stabilizers, apfsds, thermals, helicopters hovering kilometers away from battlefield throwing rockets … i remember when they added Chieftain and T62, they didnt had stabilizers at the beginning, it wasnt implemented yet to the game, and there wasnt a difference at 8.0 where vehicles without stabilizers fought other with stab on.
Gameplay and balance should be the one to draw the line, if something is realistic but not good for the gameplay, it should not be added to the game or tweaked to keep the balance. Less features like point&click&forget and more manual controls, that would be better balance even if it means less realism, because gameplay is more important than realism.
What I find a lot more annoying and immersion breaking is the fucking barrel going at full elevation in an instant when you hit a steep bump in the terrain, I died so many times because my gun was stuck 20 degrees in the airs while I’m trying to get it down to kill what’s in front of me!
Also make aiming a v-joy instead of direct-input, than armor and weakspots would actually matter. !
So should they remove SACLOS ATGMS then? Remove IR, radar and optical tracking systems? Thermals? How about remove automatic range finding completely and just add mildots or a manual range scale to the sights? How about giving APFSDS artificially high drop as it shoots so flat that you don’t even need the range finder under 1km?
Alternatively you can simply play BRs where tanks do not have those systems instead of complaining about them existing on tanks that actually have them and trying to ruin things for people that actually want to play modern tanks not reskinned WW2 tanks.
At times I play with a set up that emulates this. It isn’t that bad tbch.
remove current in game gunsights too and add manual rangefinding. current in game sights too easy to use, add historical sights so you have to learn gunnery for each tank
Honestly they should add them for poeple who want to use them.
Especially with vehicles with more than 1 weapon system like the BMP 3 for example, having the range for 100mm HE and 30mm at the same time would help a lot since the LRF only rangefinds for the 30mm if you don’t specifically select the secondary weapon before ranging.
