It hasn’t been overturned. The quote you mentioned was just a hypothetical scenario on my part—after all, these decisions are ultimately up to Gaijin. All I can do is protest. If things don’t change, then I’ll have no choice but to quit playing the game.
If only I could change Gaijin’s mind just by getting worked up. Right now, it’s all just useless anxiety - there hasn’t even been a second response from Gaijin.
Fundamentally, putting Thai in JP instead of putting SK in JP caused this issue, and VT4 only one of the many and growing list of CN vehicles RTA uses. Really should have cobbled together an ASEAN (and other associated regional minors) tree to put both Thailand and Singapore in.
In fact, the game would be very well served by having a “regional minors” tree for for each continent. It avoids all of this and solves some incredibly forced sub-trees. But more trees = longer queue times, Gaijin’s long-held nemesis and priority #0.
From a gameplay perspective and historical perspective (let us not forget that while truly tragic Korea was a part of JP during the interwar and WW2 period, which was the chief logic for SA and IN being subtrees in the UK!), NK being the CN subtree and SK being the JP subtree are too obvious. But for whatever reason I guess those communities are beyond having their toes stepped on?
It’s just a giant, easily predicted beforehand, mess and Gaijin can’t put the genie back in the bottle.
God forbid Indonesia opts for J10C.
As far as I know, the Koreans don’t want that at all, which is fair considering history.
And have a nearly all-encompassing tree with vehicles from all over the world? That would render most nations near obsolete since you have an near all in one tree. Why bother grinding anyone else? Gaijin would want you to grind multiple trees potentially buying multiple premiums for each one. They want your money, and they most likely won’t do this.
Yeah no SK to Japan. I disagree with that reasoning for sub-trees and I can’t even say for sure why they are added with the UK because there’s no clear metric as to why countries are put where they are. I supported an Independent India tech tree because that’s what the Indians want, and the UK has many other Commonwealth nations to draw from too.
Honestly, I don’t think Gaijin foresaw the Chinese community backlash against VT4. I’m pretty sure the international community sees it as Thai-owned and operated. (Along with VN1C) Hence why people don’t understand why this is a problem in the first place.
- I’m not trying to (re)start this argument, just try to explain my opinion since I feel like it’s misunderstood.
As a German I don’t see it as an issue to have Leopard tanks placed outside of the German tree. This might be a cultural difference, but seeing German success like this from a purely nationalistic standpoint is something I’d feel proud of.
Sadly there’s no example for a subtree giving a Leopard to an enemy I can use, so I’ll have to be creative. Assuming there was suddenly support from Umranian players to be a Russian subtree, I would support the German Leopard ending up in the Russian tree despite the history between our nations and my family, since it would be a Ukranian tank.
I only opoose this addition now because the approval of Ukranian players isn’t there.
This is generally the way I think about any subtree in game. I believe the most important aspect is the operating nation itself.
This line of thinking is consistent with my opinion on the Thai VT-4 and Singapore as a nation. I understand if you still don’t agree, but I wanted to make clear that I don’t want to advocate for double standards here.
That being said, I found a point I agree with too:
…or rather an issue I do have a solution for. In fact a full, written out concept to resolve this issue.
Essentially this takes the concept of subtrees and turns them into nations presented as equals that support eachother.
This is how I think subtrees should’ve been done from the start, and makes sure that the VT-4 for example is clearly under the Thai flag.
Stop talking about Singapore and vt4.He is deliberately changing the subject … The question we have now is when to repair the China vehicle. We will never forget this matter, and the China community will not stop until it is formally resolved.
Half of this topic is abt Thai vt4
Vt4 is not really important.
So should be added to japan.
The fuse to all these hustle and bustle is not important 🤔 I don’t think your community like this comment
True, but Gaijin has already stepped on other toes for the sake of gameplay and/or history. It would be much better if they were consistent in game factors > personal feelings or personal feelings > game factors. Not listening to some groups on how they feel, while ignoring others. From right here: see Singapore. S’poreans pretty overwhelmingly don’t want to be in CN, nor do CN players want them.
Gaijin is already doing that with the widespread copypasting of vehicles under any excuse (trials, technical links, historic links, they will find any reason to do so as they need). This cannot be stopped without ending copypasting.
An Independent India tree will suffer the Israeli problem: early tiers will be either nonexistent or all copied. India was VERY late to the game of doing distinct stuff. Nobody wants what will be until high-mid to high tier a second British tree. It’s utterly awful from a gameplay perspective. India and South Africa were directly spelled out as being with UK due to historic dominion ties, and the same applies to SK in JP. (In fact, some really awful things happened in India under UK rule, and SA was conquered by force. JP not being nice to Korea doesn’t really cancel things.)
For one or two vehicles, no. But there is a very huge historic grudge here between CN and JP that would have been an issue the more CN stuff ends up in JP hands (and vice versa). Thailand doesn’t really offer enough to JP to solve this. The whole argument was ‘fix high-tier JP CAS options’ but SK fixes that even better than Thailand does.
Others should be, but I am more concerned about how to repair the China vehicle.
Speaking of: spall liners, reload adjustment, DTC-10 buff and simple implementation of the softkill countermeasure on 99 series would be a good start.
The basic problem stems from each community having their own specific worldviews - very much guided by histories and biases. To a non-Chinese observer (waves hand) it appears like the CN playerbase is incredibly thin-skinned, hyper-sensitive and totally at odds with how the rest of the world view them.
HOWEVER.
My country has not been historically invaded and nor was it’s population brutalised by a foreign power in the past 1000 years. I have that intellectual luxury, but many other nations do not.
If the shoe were on the other foot - I would imagine that would taint my view of history even in something as mundane as a video game. How could it not?
TLDR - Remove all nations from the game and make them into fake ones.
I vote Britain becomes Narnia.
Russia can be Elbonia.
The French can be…no, I won’t go there.
I live in an ASEAN country, and I don’t understand why BVVD is always trying to find a suzerain for ASEAN. Please, this is no longer the colonial era. ASEAN countries are sovereign states, not vassals of anyone. Thailand is a sovereign country, as is Singapore! Please respect the independent sovereignty of ASEAN countries.
Creating an ASEAN tree is necessary now. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither should yours!
BVVD, please abandon your outdated colonial mindset!
This is a good suggestion. Another reason why I’ve consistently opposed the inclusion of the VT-4 in the Thai subtree—and one that most players also find off-putting—is the use of political stickers. For example, adding stickers like the rising sun symbol to a Japanese vehicle to create so-called “politically sensitive” symbols (such as the 731 Unit with rising sun stickers).
Good point, I actually agree. Independent ASEAN will be worse than this. Copy-paste is inevitable true, but there must be steps to mitigate this.
Commonwealth ties or simply invaded. Two distinct reasons.
Okay so you’re taking the feelings don’t matter route. I can’t say I fully agree but alright for consistency sake.
The problem with that is you really can’t forcefully seperate people and emotions. Throwing a tantrum worked. Worked last time for the global economy changes. Since this reply is kind of a nothing burger I’m not sure to say it worked now, we’ll see further on.
They wanna throw a tantrum and it worked? fine, I can do the same. Both of us shouldn’t? Didn’t stop them, why should it stop me?
You’re right but then there’s the question of whether Gaijin even consider Korea for Japan because of the potential backlash from the Koreans? I don’t know. No one but Gaijin knows.
That when a nation folder needs to come in, if we can’t escape from political conflicts, maybe nation folder can mitigate nationalism.
Here we are again, as usual, making comparisons with Italy.
Please, don’t bring up other tech trees you don’t even play in this mess.
The Ariete has been struggling for years with an armor setup that’s more of a developer invention than reality: 80mm of “air.” There are multiple accepted bug reports that question this reconstruction, while the actual armor layout remains classified. The Ariete uses composite armor, not spaced armor.
Then there’s the so-called 5-ton war kit, which in practice provides almost no real protection but still weighs as if it did. Please stop discussing things you haven’t experienced directly.
The Italian tree has been subject to repeated nerfs and questionable treatment for years (R3, Sagittario, Centauro, Leo with the 40mm, and so on). If this had happened to any other nation, we’d be seeing a much bigger reaction than the current debate over this export tank and an handful of pending fixes for the Chinese tanks or planes.
The Italian community has always been respectful of the system and of how to engage through the official communication channels, and above all it has shown a certain decency and fairness in interactions—something that is clearly missing in this whole discussion, both from Gaijin’s side and from the players in general.
