Indonesian Sub-tree: Bhinneka Tunggal Ika!

Cool finding! its a long post, But tldr: it`s mostly about the context of the restructuration of indonesian armed forces under japan , the equipment they brought, the sparking of the indonesian indepence movement and the resistence against anglo-indian forces trying to restore holland rule.

The vehicle itself its an universal carrier , one of several captured vehicles by the japanese from Malasia and Singapur brough to the country, mated with the turret of a Sumida type 91/93 armored car ,so armed with a type 91 6.5mm machine gun in the turret and the bren gun in the hull, the modification was likely made by the japanese to equip themselfs or the newly formed Pembela Tanah Air (PETA) for policing action.

Tough only the one example is known to be used by indonesia Andrew Morrison in his book “Making Tracks” reports that there could have been one or two more examples of them as the Autralian troops encountered similar japanese coverted tanks in New Guinea

May I suggest adding Indonesian Scorpion 90 variants to the subtree? Aside from the base Scorpion 90, Indonesia has produced a couple of unique modifications to the platform that would both be unique and add directly to gameplay functionality:

Upgraded Optics on Scorpion 90

DEFENSE STUDIES: Pussenkav TNI AD Upgrade Tank Scorpion

Laser Warning Receiver on Scorpion 90

DEFENSE STUDIES: Dislitbangad Uji Fungsi Litbanghan Prototipe I Laser Warning System Untuk Ranpur Tank Scorpion

These would be a little bit more unique than the Scorpion 90, if you are on the edge about adding more regular export vehicles.

I remembered i had this stored somewhere and wanted to bring an usable domestic rank 1 vehicle. A dodge WC51 mounting a japanese type 96 25mm AA gun.

On the upcoming weekend, I’ll update the tree to include the Scorpion 90.

Edit (01AUG): working on a tree format.

Soviet APC «K-61» with a cannon. In Indonesian service.

Unfortunately, the K-61 is just a transport vehicle and the cannont a static field howitzer.

Technically could still be added as a vehicle. There are currently AAs (i.e. Bosvark) which are quite literally towed AA platforms sitting on a flat bed, so I don’t see why this wouldn’t work.

That being said, you would have an overweight obscure soviet amphib transport with practically no armor, dubious traverse/gun depression, and ammo storage / crew placement entirely dictated by Gaijin.

But hey, the GIAT LG-1 is pretty cool, so if anyone wants to…

I’ve also compiled most of the possible vehicles here, I might miss some of the recent suggestion on the replies though, but hopefully this’ll help a bit

Dude I might just use this and write the historical descriptions for the suggestion, if that’s cool with you. I like the organization of it.

Most likely I will lol. I’ll pm you when I hit a roadblock. After I do the update, feel free to pm me about additional info that I can add to the tree.

Thanks m8.

Also, congrats on your Air Sub-tree being passed to devs. I hope our Sub-tree as a whole gets added 🤙 in the update, I’ll add a link to it.

There is a difference in how the weaponry is handled.
Unlike with the pictured vehicle, the Bosvark actually fires it’s armament while mounted. This would not.

yess thank you, hopefully the ground forces will be next!

On the lower rank SPAAs, I think you can fill them with the Dutch Indies Army vehicles. According to some basic reading, they’re technically the direct predecessor of the Indonesian Army and were absorbed post-WWII.

In that case, you have this Braat Overvalwagen AA variant with 1 x 12.7 mm Browning water-cooled HMG & 4 x 7.7 mm Vickers water-cooled MGs. They were produced in Machinefabriek Braat NV, Surabaya, Indonesia. Probably suitable for a 1.3-1.7 BR SPAA.

In addition, there’s also another Dutch Indies Army SPAA with the same 12.7 mm HMG, but this time on an open-cab truck. Potential for a 1.0 BR SPAA.

interesting, i know of the open cab chevy but I didnt know about that first one

Theres also this old range rover with 2x 50cal i previously mentioned that i forgot to put in the tree, but that thing is relatively recent so I think the other two options is better for the lower tiers

Though I don’t think its likely to have gone anywhere, I recently stumbled onto a unique option to perhaps provide a better ~10.0 ish BR SAM for the tree! ( other than the VAMTAC RR with Martlet/Starstreak )

It seems that in 2016 SAAB tested mounting RBS 70NG (BOLIDE but improved) to the roof of the Komodo 4x4.

Could be an interesting option with slightly longer range than the starstreak and the multi-purpose warhead.

With Indo Defence 2024 just a couple of months away, there’s a high likelihood that more tanks will be unveiled there, such as this one

P8 Tank made by PT. SSE

30mm Remote Controlled Gun in an unmanned turret, supposedly can also be fitted with a MLRS SAM system
Stanag level 2
Hybrid engine
amphibious
speed of 105km/h
3 crew on hull
7.5 tons

day sight, thermals, LRF

yesterday/today There were some leaked images circulating of the hull being pretty much done, but i cant share those images for obvious reasons. If you want to see it you can search on reddit if the post is still up

Its likely that the actual tank will be unveiled in Indo Defence 2024 so we’ll just have to wait and see

But the BTR-ZD is a specific variant and was meant for use on the vehicle itself though,

for the K-61 I dont recall there was any mention that the cannon can be used whilst on the vehicle as its primarily serve as its transport but I could be wrong
