Imagine losing after a 10-kill clutch because some 15lv decided to camp the airfield

They wouldn’t have won if OP didn’t begin to camp the opponents airfield while ignoring tickets.

It already is since you can end up in a worse situation on takeoff. That still doesn’t change the fact that you are not entitled to kill an enemy plane that’s damaged/out of ammo for no reason other than you not wanting a fair fight.

Without AA, ignoring all fighting and camping the opponents airfield will become a valid tactic, and why would anyone want that?

That’s untrue IMO. Base AA is not the limiting factor behind player skill. AF camping isn’t that common, and the real limiting factor is that killing players doesn’t net that much more than base bombing, so why would anyone want to learn to get better?

Being forced to be a free kill to someone who doesn’t deserve it because you actually played the game is the opposite.

I feel like just marking on the map the exact radius of the airfield AA and then allowing said AA to lose track of you if you go super low (like 15 meters off the ground max) would do plenty to making the camping the airfield a bit fairer.

The issue with airfield AA is not that they shouldnt exist, its that there should at least be some way of working around it so that we feel its not just a super OP guardian angel to hold your hands.

I don’t really mind people getting protected by AA while on ground. using terrain and the inactive player thing do counter that kind of abusive use pretty effectively.
But players deliberately flying above the airfield can cause problems. a group of Rolands with infinite missiles shooting at early jets is pretty crazy.
