Yeah kind of annoying my gun can’t do much to tanks on a gun run, and my missiles are only for air targets, and the SP requirement is barely different to being an A2G load out with me.
I only use my planes for CAP. With my sorta crappy SPAA, jets is my really viable solution for CAS. So I think lowering it a bit would be nice.
I’m also gonna put fourth the idea that if there’s tons of jets. The LAV is the best SPAA for top tier U.S. it’s semi easy to flare missiles, but it’s hard to hold your energy and continue to do so. If you lob the stinger at different approach angles and intervals, you’ll run out of energy managing and I’ll still have more to fire.
I’m not expert at it, but it does work for me, in the rare chances I decide to spawn SPAA, which isn’t often.
Problem with the lav is it can’t do anything about Orbital bomber’s like the a6tram and it’s equivalents
Nor Long range Helis
And doesn’t have a search radar so you only have a mk1 eyeball to search for target’s or what I call the MK2 eyeball gunner Sight with Thermals but the angle is Very narrow
CAS should not be allowed to kill people as soon as they spawn, because it’s getting to a joke at this point. Even the strike drones are killing me bro, I’m a magnet for it lately
USSR: Not like they had strong ones already 🤣
Osa-AKM
Italy: Finally getting a workable SAM at 10.3
Osa-AKM
Hopefully the Osa-AKM can do some work. Does have a 10.3 km range and sitting at 10.3 Br lol Have a feeling it may end up at 11.0 or 11.3 after a few months into the game due to its range. Just like they did with the other SAMs. Never the less, looking pretty good. though the SPAA gaps are still there in the 5.7 to 8.0 range for other nations like Japan, US, UK…💀
Wishing for more effective SAMs and 6.0 to 8.0 effective SPAAs the next update.
So far as I know not everyone got high BR jets, so how about bringing us a research-free interceptor in high BR battle such as 9.0 above? Every player can use it by spending some SP points, just like Attack drones. I think that’s a good way to balance the overwhelming air attack in high BR battle, epically for the NATOs since they have not much ground countermeasures.
The CAS drones don’t spawn over the battlefield anymore. They need to putter for a bit before they get within range. Personally I’m a proponent of removing air spawns and forcing ground spawns, along with the addition of an extra 2-3 airfields per team scattered around the map to grant new spawn choices. The extra delay to get to the battlefield would make information from kill cam footage be stale unless the camper just camped in the same spot the whole time. But these threads never go anywhere because the anti-CAS party refuses any kind of compromise and only ever wants the complete removal of aircraft or an increase of SP costs so extra that they’d be completely removed in every practical sense.
I haven’t been playing WT as long as many here, but from my experience so far I don’t think aircraft are really overpowered in RB.
Sometimes you get a good CAS player who lays down the hammer, and it’s not fun for the opposite team; but I’m not getting upset about it. Sometimes they are on my team too.
If I was to suggest any change it would be a way to protect the spawn points in general from ground and air attacks. I feel like it’s just plain rude to attack a spawn point. Can’t argue it’s not an effective strategy.
If I was to suggest anything related to SPAA specifically, it would be to allow turrets to adjust vertically while rotating the turret and tank at the same time. I often find myself able to follow a target fast enough but can’t make a shot because I can’t adjust vertically without stopping. I can’t speak for SPAA as a whole as I have only grinded Germany to BR 6.7.
The most important thing is to remove weapons that are out of balance, such as the KH38MT. gaijin just carried out a verbal deception, KH38MT can fire and forget, but KH38ML needs to be continuously guided. And it is in terms of KH38ML that gaijin describes all KH38 as “not upsetting the balance”.
It is straightforward: make the flight performance the same as air-RB but make it cockpit only like SIM air battles. It’s as easy as that.
could make IRST on SPAA with radars harder to aim missiles so they have to use their radar for a more stable track, case atm IRST mode is better then Radar lock by a long shot. just a secondary thought.
My method for balancing would be simple, and I’ll try to explain it in a way that would be easy to apply to the game.
Adjusted Spawn Cost: Increase spawn points required for CAS aircraft, especially those with powerful armaments, so players need to perform better on the ground before accessing heavy air vehicles.
Improved AA Defense: Buff ground-based anti-air (AA) to have a better chance against CAS, including enhanced detection range and damage from light AA weapons, making CAS survival more skill-dependent.
Limit on CAS Per Team: Set a limit on active CAS aircraft for each team to prevent an excessive number of CAS from dominating the match, keeping a better balance between ground and air combat.
Rewards for Destroying CAS: Provide extra rewards, like research points or experience modifiers, for players who successfully take down enemy CAS. This would encourage AA players to specialize in protecting allies from aircraft.
Implementation of Weather Conditions and Fog: More varied weather, like storms and fog, could reduce CAS visibility, forcing players to rely more on visual skills and decreasing accuracy in attacks.
This could make things a bit harder for CAS players; as a player myself, just a few of these additions would drastically affect me. On most maps with denser clouds, it’s easier for laser-guided bombs to lose their lock. If you encourage players to use AA (anti-air), then you’ll see airspace controlled by allied/enemy teams from the ground.
The problem is that the most effective AA for this kind of control is the Pantsir-S1 due to its range and powerful radar, so it would be necessary to add equivalent AA vehicles for each nation in the game to create a balanced environment and significant defense for both teams.
Worth noting that this also makes some SPAA unsuable. IR based systems (Like Machbet / Chaparral etc) just straight up can not lock anything when there is low cloud / fog.
Just saying increase spawn cost is vague and helps none. Base cost should be increased to 650,T he cost of ordinance needs to be reworked completely. There’s no reason for 52 50kg bombs on an NC.2.2.2.3 to be the same cost as an A-10 with 6 mavericks.
You can’t just base cost off the ordinance’s explosive filler, but also the BR, the range of guided weapons, whether its FnF, the plane’s flight performance, whether the plane has ballistics computers, whether the plane has countermessures, and many more.
You would also needa consider the plane’s guns. The Hs 129, for example, can spawn with full APHE at the exact same cost as a weaponless plane.
Autocannons should add cost since they can destroy tracks and barrels, and also strafe SPAA far easier.
