If you could, how would you re-balance CAS in Ground Battles?

If they don’t want to fight the air they will leave for another match where they can enjoy more of ground vs ground combat.

If I die to the air should I spawn into another ground vehicle to die again to the air?

That’s honestly how I see it lol It’s literally a buffet for me lol Most recent games thus far.

I dont think I have ever had a match where i’ve died to aircraft twice in a row.

99.99% of my deaths are due to tanks. In fact, the number one reason I quit a ground match is becasue our spawn point is being camped by other tanks and I wish someone would spawn in CAS to bomb them. In fact my best match i’ve ever had as CAS, was spawning in a heli and killing the 10 or so tanks sat literally in our spawn point.

Spading the Stormer HVM in GSB was hilarious, I just farmed kills at the start of every match (and the odd light tank too)

Good for You, I had such games.

Or someone from enemy team spawns CAS and bombs Your spawn (did that a lot of times).

So You enjoy this kind of gameplay.

Some people don’t. That is why TO is an answer to all the problems which would allow for truely combined mode without the need of nerfs/buffs.

Yes, that is a very real scenario too. It is simply wrong to deprive players of their rightful access to their vehicles…if a player has the SP to use a vehicle, they have the absolute right to pursue it.

Surge pricing is decidedly unpopular with consumers…and there’s little doubt that’s the same case here.

As I related above, the Chronicles events years ago were quite notorious for this…and people would explicitly cite this as why they left.

Players would often see the last ‘token’ for a limited quantity vehicle used, see their ability to obtain said vehicle evaporate in that moment and leave the match immediately thereafter. You cannot take away the goal they’re pursuing and then expect them to keep working…it doesn’t work that way.

ODLing (or at least a very similar trend of early leaving) would, without a doubt, explode if this sort of setup was realized. People who advocate for such a system either do not grasp its ramifications or do not care about the negative ripple effects it would have.

A player is free to leave any combined arms battle in the combined arms mode if they fear combined arms gameplay. That is their personal choice, though ODL is often frowned upon.

Freely leaving the battle is completely different from being forced out by arbitrary costs.

Who says you will be outplayed and defeated? It’s bizarre to be so convinced of defeat as that…but again, your decision to spawn or not is a personal choice that you’re free to make or not make.

What you show there exemplifies why paralyzing defeatism about enemy CAS is bogus: no success is guaranteed to CAS or anything else. You may be outplayed and defeated…or you survive (and even win too!): that is what the fighting decides.

Defeatism is convincing yourself that loss is inevitable. Sad as it is to say, even some high-time players who should know better buy into that bunk. Disappointingly, that’s how far the CAS hype sham has gone.

Heck, didnt they just relatively recently change it so that planes cant land and cap zones anymore?

Matches can still be lost, even with air superiority

Yeah, it’s now limited to anything that can re-arm on a helipad, so just rotaries and VTOL aircraft

Add ships into it, it would balance it self out

Looks at FA2… Hmmmmm…

Nah, can guarantee 15" AP rounds from Hood would still shell-shatter all the time

I mean one of my favourite things to do atm is play something small like the G-lynx or Lahatut and landing on buildings inside caps, works especially well on maps like Sun City and Seversk 13 because a whole enemy team could arrive on the cap and it would still remain uncaptured lmao

Hahahaha

Now that is hilarious

I honestly have more fun just doing the most random stuff in matches, tryharding just isn’t worth the time or effort in the big '24

I will begin this by saying it has been many weeks if not months since I last tried to capture a point with an aircraft. Previously, I have simply said ‘aircraft have no practical means of interacting with the objectives’ as there was the theoretical capability for aircraft (including fixed-wings) to capture zones.

Such capability was fairly described as ‘theoretical’ because, while existent, any actual attempt to capture zones with aircraft was extremely prone to failure. Terrain limitations (surroundings, obstacles, etc.) and the vehicle vulnerability made such attempts a fool’s errand. Capturing a zone with an aircraft was never a practical means to gaining a zone.

Capturing or, more often, simply neutralizing a cap was generally, at most, just an amusing way to irk the enemy team. Apparently, capturing with fixed wing aircraft is no longer possible.

Given the difficulty involved (and tanks’ repair mechanics being what they are), I’ve always felt aircraft that can stick the landing in a cap should be able to capture and fully rearm/repair there…if they can get back out, more power to them!

The dichotomy of the “CAS OP!” hype and “we lost because our team was all in aircraft!” is missed by many people even as these bits often come from the same exact individuals.

Team mixture, not AF/GF vehicles themselves, has a far bigger effect on success.

Yep agreed

I think he’s more upset that the maps are poorly set up for AD and artificially constrain AD into a very small space and provide significant safe space to loiter/launch munitions from that are out of reach from AD.

The contest is not equitable between AD and Air units unless the AD unit is in a full down tier. Unless you’re driving the Pantsir, you will almost always face aircraft that can shoot further than you, often with self guiding munitions allowing them to fire and defend while we’re stuck with junk SACLOS missiles that can be defeated in most cases simply by staying fast and high

A lot of SPAA players dont seem to realise that they have more missiles then the enemy has guided weapons, if you intercept the weapons it either forces the plane to try and get closer to give you less time to react, or he will run out of weapons and have to rearm. Now I know you dont get anything for doing that but your also completely stopping that player from doing anything for his team

lol

Have you actually tried that? Ignoring for a minute that the majority of the AD units can’t actually intercept munitions with IR missiles, even if it truly worked. Which let’s be honest trying to engage several descending F&F munitions with SACLOS missiles with the terrible interface that WT uses is not going to end well for SPAA 95% of the time.

But let’s play that out.

So an A-10 shows up and engages an Stormer HVM with an AGM-65 from 10km out. In this mythical engagement, let’s say the Stormer was actually able to defeat all six AGM’s with 9 missiles. Never actually happen that way. But now he has 5 star streaks left. It will take him 2-3 minutes or more to get to a cap site.

A-10 lands while the Stormer is still fighting his first mavericks, reloads and takes off, seeing the stormer drive to a cap point, he fires off 2 missiles and then flies a little fires one more and then pulls a maneuver and fires another almost instantly on a different path because his TV lock allows him to launch and defend almost instantly.

Stormer dies, A-10 picks off 2 tanks and lands to repeat cycle without ever being exposed to a missile from the stormer because he has significantly more range
