The only one that comes to mind that is actually a full new mode is Nuclear Thunder, but this also serves the purpose of revitalizing air gameplay in Warthunder because air matches have been stale for a long time. Anything new for ground usually gets thrown into the same overarching mode. The current assault mode is only separate because it’s in testing.
Like off the top of my head the BMPT and T-58 come to mind. Issues with BR compression can often cause people to end up in matchups that are not impossible to win but can be difficult to achieve victory against. There’s a litany of balancing issues that exist even if you narrow the scope down to just ground vehicles
You’ve never directly addressed why these buffs would fail. You’ve just said “nuh uh CAS is a skill issue” pretty much this entire time. Address my proposal directly. What is wrong with buffing rewards for shooting down planes? What is wrong with providing more incentives for running A2A loadouts? Don’t just say “There’s other ways to do it so just nuke CAS pls” because that’s not addressing the argument it’s dodging it.
The problem is in team based games if you give too much power in the hands of a single character with no cost it will end up invalidating the “smart thinking” you want to encourage. What’s the point of occupying a position if someone’s just gonna press the “nope” button on it? The issue is CAS can be countered, and it does have a cost to use. Like I said the cost to spawn CAS in is roughly double or triple that of a tank, and you have to die first. So if you want to use it, you have to lose the tank you’re in, forfeit the position you have, and potentially lose 2 spawns if you get shot down without achieving a kill. That’s why I believe buffing CAS and CAP is the way to go, it makes the investment more punishing if it doesn’t work out commensurate with the game impact of using it
You asked for examples of imbalanced matchups not tanks that couldn’t be killed.
Also when the BMPT was introduced the BR it was at was horrendously oppressive and effectively couldn’t be killed unless the person using it was dumb enough to drive out
Nothing, the issue is tye plane themselves… which are simply too strong by default… the issue isn’t that it doesn’t give enough resources it’s the planes not being on the same level of the tanks and SPAAs… and nothing, aside from removing them, can be done to balance them… so sorry if i call them for what they are a skill issue on the plane part because they want the “i win” button
No… no it cannot, CAS cannot be realistically countered and it’s very clear, saying otherwise is idiotic… You can’t just compare artillery and CAS because they are not the same thing… Artillery effects a singular area CAS is actively controlled by players and can do way way more damage untested, especially at low tier, and the state of the game proves it
So you don’t properly understand what I’m proposing and won’t even give it a thought. Gotcha, it’s good to know the kind of person I’m dealing with.
“This thing that can be countered can’t be countered, and saying it can be countered is dumb!” Logic is circular.
Yes it’s a tradeoff, like I’ve tried to demonstrate multiple times. Artillery is effectively free but extremely limited in scope, CAS entails costs that are increased amount of SP to spawn them in, forfeiture of ground position, and loss of direct game impact. What you get is being able to more effectively deal with defensive positions at the risk of screwing yourself over in various ways. I’ve seen plenty of matches lost by too many people hopping into planes to bomb instead, and by consequence losing too much pressure on the ground causing objectives to be lost.
If this concept is too much for you to grasp, there’s nothing I can do to convince you.
False dichotomy. A tank does not have to be hard to kill to be unbalanced. The 2 examples I gave are tanks that are difficult to face. The T-58 has strong angled armor and a rapidly reloading high caliber gun that can effectively one shot or disable any tank it sees. The BMPT’s DM infamously abuses volumetric making most shots disappear into the geometry. It’s also incredibly difficulty to reliably knock out all its weapons as these also seem to have an unusual amount of durability as well as the ammo being incredibly resistant to cooking off. It’s still a monster in the BR that it’s at, being one of the top performers, the BR change just allowed it to face off against more capable vehicles that can fight it, though at a disadvantage with how its currently modelled.
Last I checked both of these tanks are still in the game and are still top performers in their BR.
It’s a pretty flimsy argument actually. You’re making tons of fallacies that are easy to pick apart.
I do… but you clearly don’t, Gaijin’s been “balancing” CAS for an eternity now and the results? It’s stronger then before… I’m not against increasing the rewards but expecting it ti fix the issue is simply irrealisic
Mine is? You’re the one actively denying reality…
It’s not, it’s simply untrue… planes have much more effect then tanks in ground battles because they can effectively kill without repercussions… and trade off? Be fr, it takes a scout and an assist/cap to get a fully loaded plane… there’s no trade off, CAS is blatantly overpowered regardless of how you put it… artillery, however, does the exact same thing that you think CAS is needed for and dose it in a healthier way for the game.
What’s clear is that you have no idea how a game should be balanced and that “nerfing” something by making it more rewarding to kill doesn’t solve anything… And, not only that, completely ignores why people want to play ground mode… which is the ground vehicles. Don’t expect another response, it’s very clear you have no idea what you’re talking about.
The thing is that You can still do something to them, You can’t to air without dying and spawning SPAA or Air.
And still tanks at their B.R. can kill them.
We were talking about:
„ I guess people will enjoy gamemode where they fight only things they can actually do something, like what tank vs tank gameplay is.”
So again You can’t compare tank vs air to tank vs tank combat as in tank vs tank combat there is always something You can do.
Please reread what I’ve posted, I’m not repeating myself. This is a singular aspect of an entire proposal you’re ignoring
Yes, it is. You made the thesis CAS can’t be countered, didn’t back it up, then claimed that the idea of countering it is idiotic. The logic is circular.
So you again, failed to understand the premise. I can tell because I already addressed every point in this quote. Try reading again, and really use that brain this time.
Again, more of a demonstration you either didn’t read it or didn’t understand it.
Ignoring the fact that ground battles have always had CAS, it’s always been marketed as combined arms. Again, failing to understand the premise.
If you’re going to attack my understanding, you may want to have some of your own first
There are actually quite a lot of SPAAs that are ineffective against ground vehicles. Most of them can’t be buffed in any kind of realistic way to be effective against ground vehicles. That’s like saying “just buff bombers to be effective against fighters” makes no sense
I’ve addressed every point you’ve mentioned, you keep moving the goal posts and creating false equivalences. Don’t blame me if you can’t construct an actual argument
I actually directly addressed this issue. If you have a problem with the response, please address the response and what you see is wrong with it instead of just flat out ignoring that.
