I would say their the biggest mistake is rather low AoA. When attacking SPAA I usually use very high AoA so its harder for them to hit you while its easier for me to hit a crewmember in open top vehicle.
It would harm CAS balance as Gajin could just say “play TO if CAS is unbalanced” instead of actually working to fix CAS balance.
Also, even mentioning TO on the forums is a massive waste of everyone’s time since Gajin confirmed it will not be added.
We won’t add top tier premiums type of comment, it’s always worth it to type 5 extra words, add TO only to game
I wouldn’t say its a waste of time. Begging TO mode is a Wishlist just like every other suggestion to improve SPAA gameplay or SP changes etc… they can continue asking for it. Gaijin can still change their mind. But yes, their current take for TO is still a No. They been listening and added other Wishlists like ammo boxes, ammunitions destroyed rewards, Radar Screens, new modern SAMs etc…
Mine would be increase map size and spawn area to have breathing room for Modern SAM systems. Hate sitting at spawn with it…
One small issue.
Adding modern stuff = money.
Adding TO =/= money
CAS is SP expensive. AAs are SP cheap and pop up instantly any time with spawn protection. Right now, CAS isn’t really part of the meta as long as your team has at least one AA up playing intelligently. CAS is just a way for teams that are doing well to expand their lead. It’s really rough to play CAS unless your team is dominating.
Fire-and-forget helis are the new meta because they turn games around regardless of your AA. You can’t hit them without aircraft, and you cant get aircraft without SP. Honestly the best way to balance CAS is to make aircraft without ground ordinance cheaper. How many A-10 gun runs or heli rocket rushes have you died to lately? Let cheaper Air-to-Air aircraft balance it out.
Even if you make them cheaper, you need the players willing to fly them. ROI not as good as CAS or ground vehicles.
I have’t read the entire thread. So this might be said already.
I think they should limit aircraft and heli spawns to third spawn or later in ground. That would force more uninterupted ground play and increase the cas cost.
Also remove the air-spawn rebate module entierly.

Effectiveness of CAS depends a lot on BR, in the 3.0-7.0 range CAS can impact the outcome of the match, not just extend a lead. At 6.7 I can almost always get 3 kills, and almost always on the field, not in the spawn. After that 7.0 range CAS really starts to lose impact on the strategic direction of the match. Especially when you consider I have to give up 450sp minimum to field an airplane. (I guess we count scouting we can better that)
The clips shared above are probably mid range pilots. First clue is they are making runs vs what looks to be the spawn area. It is far better to hit something on the field to save a friendly tank, or hit a flanker. Second clue is they are coming in at a shallow angle. Versus SPAA even at lower BR you almost need to come in at as close to top down as you can get.
The situation is pretty obvious if you play CAS a lot, you can see the count difference between number of fielded aircraft vs SPAA drastically change. Somewhere in the 8.3/8.7 range I will only spawn CAS to suicide against a stubbornly entrenched target. It usually sparks the other team to over spawn SPAA only to have nothing to shoot out of the sky. …Of course you can fly around on the deck and play peek a boo with the SPAA and SAM…maybe even get a couple of on field kills. However, spending less than 200sp on your second tank or other unit is almost always more impactful on the match.
In the 3.0-7.0 range, I think the balance is actually pretty good. Especially when taking into account the SP cost of the units. In the 7-10 range SPAA could probably use some heavy nerf bat, not only vs air, but more so vs ground. It would probably be wise in this range to give more aircraft flares and chaff in this as well as adding some flyable terrain features(a mountain?) to utilize in more of the maps. After 10.0 I really do not see any hope of balance. Guided munitions rule the field.
That’s silly. Players would simply bring some reserve tanks to J out in to hit third spawn faster.
The issue isn’t that CAP is too expensive. The issue is that SPAA is ridiculously OP at 8.3+, which makes CAP unplayable.
Can agree with that, whats point of bringing starfighter or supersabre when there is york at 9.0 with better radar, he vt, lead indicator and only for 70sp? Or m246 which has 35mm guns which can shred both aircraft and ground vehicles.
I don’t think there really is a fix — good players will almost always be able to CAS against the average opponent, regardless of BR. If you “balance” it, it will probably end up being for CAS or for AAs. One side will be mad regardless.
One side will always bad mad. The real question is which side does Gajin want to appeal to.
From Gajin’s perspective, you have a choice between players who will pay for ground, AND for air vehicles, and players who will only pay for ground.
True, but how often do people bring full CAS load outs to air battles? Maybe an a-10 player but other than that pretty much everyone brings stuff for air to air or base bombing. And if you are going to base bomb, you don’t exactly need to be using fire and forget munitions, dumb bombs suffice.
Every strike aircraft or fighter with guided munitions can kill convoys and frontline bots. Airfield bots were also option but now they casually shoot down anything you drop on airfield. This applies to sim. Cant say much about arb because I despise this mode.
The fix is increasing SP cost for powerful air to ground missiles/bombs. Its very easy right now to get a few tank kills or a cap, and spawn into a jet with very good CAS options
Easy to spawn a jet? Yes. Easy to spawn one with good CAS options? No.
It’s usually 800-1000 sp, right?. That’s like 2 kills and part of a cap. Even if you are just bringing one tank an average player could get that every other game at least.

The whole WWII CAS are totally destroyed by the current system, especially for those small nations, most of them don’t have good CAS but need suffer charging over 1000 SP due to only take some 50kg bombs or small rockets, and then shot down by Cold War SPAA or those “full armor protect” SPAA, I don’t if Gaijin really want these nations players to be considered as a part of Balance, the only thing they are needed is to feed “big nation” players
