Your argument ceases to exist once you realize scouting is already an implemented mechanic, which makes me think there’s nothing stopping them from giving out rewards for the same exact thing, but with planes.
You see a plane, place a crosshair on it and scout it. This would make the plane visible to your team and as such is an useful action which should be rewarded.
For fairness in mechanics, 100% agree. If we can scout tanks, should be able to scout aircrafts too. No harm doing so, scout drones are also used to scout potential air targets too in the real world and boats in the ocean. Submarines have scouting drones that can be launched from underwater too, if Gaijin plans to add them Subs soon.
Because you scout the enemy plane which is helpful to your team ?
Scouting as a mechanic is already in the game, so if tanks can get scouted I don’t see a reason why planes couldn’t. Neither are invisible objects.
It also gives you a single instance of location with altitude and heading shown which is much worse than what you have with tank scouting, where they get marked on the map and location is updated on it’s own for dozens of seconds.
Making this change would be better for the pilots as they wouldn’t get scouted without LoS anymore and it would take effort to locate them first.
Not exactly ignore. just taking their sweet time with it. There are multiple features that were added into WT over the years that helps SPAA to face CAS and some which I wish listed before.
Ammo boxes for all SPAA (Recent)
Radar Screen (Recent)
Mini air/ground available(recent)
Air Alert Calls (T,6,1)
Modern SAM to counter Modern ammunitions (Recent)
Rewarded for downing ammunitions (Recent)
Fixed the reward for downing scout drones to 100% earned (Recent)
HE-VT weapons able to detect and air burst air ammunitions
AF spawn due to bad weather (Though changed due to players crying about it) (Recent)
etc…
Other suggestions or wish-lists are yet to be added:
Allowing drones to scout aircrafts
Allow SPAA to use drones
Proper gun sights for each SPAA like how Radar vehicles get their Radar Screens
Slightly expanding spawn areas for moder SAM systems to function
SP changes for CAS loadouts
etc…
Could have missed a lot or a few but so far a lot has been done to make it smoother for a SPAA to do things. For the experienced SPAA players that is. CAS has always had more advantages and will always have more available advantages when played correctly.
Don’t know if this actually helps SPAA. It doesn’t really do anything but slightly inconvenience the pilot for a little moment. If anything, airfield spawns are arguably better for good CAS players.
Not sure how this would work, considering you can just Air Alert from the drone. The scout ping for ground targets update slow and aren’t too accurate.
Only if they fix the multitude of issues surrounding drones and scouting.
Probably the easier/better option is to expand the air alert functionality to also include a last known position marker for the map and radar screen. That way everyone would benefit from the improved communication.
Maybe, but the idea is that SPAA is very reactive. No CAS, you basically sit AFK. So why spawn the SPAA to begin with? Then when CAS does spawn, there is no SPAA.
This is why I rather like SPAA such as the Stormer HVM because there is always something to do besides SPAA.
Scout drones and expanding what SPAA can scout is a good starting point for consideration.
I did also wonder if the new multi-vehicle SPAA could include an IFV, not an overally strong one (like perhaps a deliberately lower BR IFV), and it would naturally increase the SP cost if selected (so make it an optional thing like a loadout option), but would give you something to defend yourself with on the smaller maps and something to do when there is no CAS.
SPAA and CAS udpates are an infinite back and forth so that everyone is eventually forced to spend money to grind either SPAA or CAS because one will always be more OP.
at some point theyll release new CAS more powerful than the best SAM
110%. I’m all for it, but scout drones tank HE-VT and missiles, allow for you to scout people from across the map and through any and all terrain. I’m all for it, when drones act somewhat realistically.
I like it but I don’t think its realistic when we talk about Gaijin. They had the opportunity to give SAM AA some type of fighting chance, and haven’t. Of course with the introduction of multi-vehicle systems, the possibility of switching between vehicles is there, but would Gaijin make it so you can spawn an entirely different vehicle of another class?
Bingo. Got amazing multi-vehicle systems, only for the problem child (Kh-38) to be able to blind fire. New strategy is to just pop up, get fired at by CAS, hide/evade and fire them out of range. Too fast to intercept all of them without being destroyed.
