Well, I’m just going by the fact that it’s been lobbied hard for since beta and Gaijin has said several times it’s a no-go, so I just take it as a “never” based on that. Not my preference, but the reality of the situation imo.
The idea is the elimination of any out of cockpit views. The pilot should be planted in the cockpit with all the view obstructions. So if you need to look down, you roll the wings to do so. That sort of thing.
Quite honestly I don’t see it making a massive difference but it would would bring a semblance of sanity into the format since AC have a gross advantage currently. But the reality is Gaijin designed the Ground game to be a format for AC to have the upper hand, dominate and farm gv’s. So I don’t see them straying too far from that.
Again, as a Sim main, this is pretty trivial to do. A minority of aircraft would probably end up with a more restricted view. But I’ve bombed the living hell out of enough things in GSB to know that this really isnt that big of a handicap usually.
limit the number of planes (3 is the perfect number) and only one turn if you are shot down you cannot recall the plane and ask for double the cost to spawn
has gaijin ever formally explicitly rejected tank-only? if so, its probably pointless.
if not, its still not possible to convince them with this attitude that “it simply cant be done”.
if we want tank-only, players need to speak out and vote for it.
this would be fine but it wouldnt affect the issue of OP cas that much
this doesnt fix OP cas and only makes the game mode arcady
It tells everyone on your team the height and direction (direction on compass) of the plane. You can even use it to track planes through mountains which is really dumb.
It’s honestly pretty overpowered considering how easy it already is to spot planes.
Limiting plane spawns would do nothing good. Additionally, we would need to limit SPAA spawns as well to maintain balance.
There’s no reason it should. Should you get a reward for spawning? Should you get a reward for missing a shot? Should you get a reward for shooting down a tree?
Your argument ceases to exist once you realize scouting is already an implemented mechanic, which makes me think there’s nothing stopping them from giving out rewards for the same exact thing, but with planes.
You see a plane, place a crosshair on it and scout it. This would make the plane visible to your team and as such is an useful action which should be rewarded.
For fairness in mechanics, 100% agree. If we can scout tanks, should be able to scout aircrafts too. No harm doing so, scout drones are also used to scout potential air targets too in the real world and boats in the ocean. Submarines have scouting drones that can be launched from underwater too, if Gaijin plans to add them Subs soon.
Because you scout the enemy plane which is helpful to your team ?
Scouting as a mechanic is already in the game, so if tanks can get scouted I don’t see a reason why planes couldn’t. Neither are invisible objects.
It also gives you a single instance of location with altitude and heading shown which is much worse than what you have with tank scouting, where they get marked on the map and location is updated on it’s own for dozens of seconds.
Making this change would be better for the pilots as they wouldn’t get scouted without LoS anymore and it would take effort to locate them first.
