I played ~10 games and died only twice, both to tanks. Most games were 1-2 kills since plane spawns are rare at 9.0 due to OP SPAAs.
It wasn’t a single good game, it was simply the only game with more than 2 planes (aside from one game where an F3H-2 was playing CAP).
I could play more chaparral and gather more and more games where I spend the entire game AFK for 4+ kills, but that would be too much boring just to prove how easy a vehicle is to people who spent more time on the forums than in Warthunder.
You have played 167 battles in Imp.Chaparral, so if what You were saying was true, then You should be able to have more than 0.53 K/B. Sorry but facts and Your words doesn’t add up.
If it wasn’t, Your own stats would reflect that. 0.82 K/D and 0.53 K/B doesn’t seem like it.
I would make it so you can only spawn one plane per game. This wouldn’t solve the issue fully but the fact after you kill the most op cas plane in the game (su30sm) the player can just spawn another is just insulting to the spaa players.
My second solution is to link plane spawns to a timer. No planes until at least one teams points are bled halfway through. This would make it so everyone is prepared to deal with cas and cas would actually be able to turn the tide of a match instead of just kill farming.
How so ? A plane is the apex predator of the grb mode. Anything other than an spaa has a very hard time attacking planes and its not feasible to do so. So the planes only real counter are spaa and other planes.
Spaa on the other hand is hunted by everything else. Planes enemy tanks enemy spaa etc. Everything can reliably kill you especially and very low and very high tiers. There are some spaa that can fight back but that’s besides the point. If the maps were bigger id agree with you but right now spaa are 100x more in danger than planes are. They are more likely to die an unfair death.
SPAA is practically free and takes no effort to use. CAS actually takes effort to spawn and to use. It’s dumb destroying 4 SPAA Ina row just for them to continue respawning with backups and other SPAA.
Thats the worst example you could have given. If any spaa should go up in battle rating its the 35mm slingers that play more like light tanks. Both pantsir and slm are utterly useless against anything that drives. Why would they cost more if they can only attack certain targets. Planes can do any and everything better than tanks.
Ground based mode. Has planes that disrupt the ground based gameplay. So there is a cheap and fast solution to turn it back to ground based mode.
What annoys most people about CAS is the fact that planes and hells are completely invisible, unavoidable, and uncounterable to tanks on the ground but 99% of ground tanks have smoke and cover so adding a level of scouting to enemy aircraft allows tanks to hide from CAS and let SPAAs take out CAS.
Make the Air Alert feature work like scouting for light tanks so that tanks can’t miss enemy CAS. Now tank players have no excuse for dying to CAS. Pay attention.
The issue is that in tank battles the gamemode forces you to be vigilant for enemy tanks because they’re there all the time but CAS spawning is random and games can host x50 planes spawning in or none at all so tank players are not well equipped to know how to deal with CAS so a soft scouting method for all tanks or just SPAAs can help alert the team of incoming danger.
Also not to mention you can spot tanks trough walks and mountains with a recon drone so it’s not really that different.
The issue with CAS is that it’s made to be extremely easy to kill tanks so it doesn’t really reward careful planning and tactics since it’s just: Fly high and shoot munitions. Surviving as CAS becomes x100 easier if you practice tactics and don’t fly in straight lines.
Took the ZSU-23-4V for a spin once again after a long while. The new “Radar Control Screen”, makes aiming a lot more easier than manually aiming it. Before it was harder due to velocity of these rounds. Now I just let the Computer do all the work, I just have to wait to shoot at the correct time.
Side note: Not a lot of players spawn or spam CAS around 8.0 from what I’m seeing. Its sometimes none to 4 air, very rare 5+.
If like me you think CAS is ruining ground battles, try playing NAVAL battles instead. Great fun to see a full broadside hit another ship and not a Compatible And Sad mediocre REVENGE BOMBER to be seen; so much Antiaircraft flying about they probably only have a 5% chance of getting anywhere near your ship before getting shot down. A plus is that Battle Points count towards improving tank crew skill levels also…a win win! If we all did this, they can be left to bomb the crap out of each other. Almost forgot, NO CHEATING/UNSPORTSMANLIKE possible in this game unlike ground battles, something that I have pointed out to Gaijin only to have the post deleted immediately before anybody could read it.
