If one belives that CAS is needed in order to deal with ground units, he can’t be trusted on the opinion about CAS.
I agree. That imagined person is not here.
Really?
Weren’t You the one saying that CAS is needed in order to deal with ground units?
I have said that CAS is better than tanks at destroying campers and heavy tanks, 'specially in uptiers, however I never claimed that CAS is needed to destroy tanks. Infact, tank on tank kills are required for spawning CAS (most of the time).
CAS is needed because it’s fun.
Sorry, I have mistook it with the need of it to level the playing field and being a perfect counter to “campers”.
Yes, that is the main purpose that CAS serves.
The expense is pretty much the same as the toggle on custom battles to allow aircraft or not; I’m sick of seeing some dude get 1 kill or cap in gb then show up and drop 6 bomb kills. Devs need to flip that switch and give it a different label that’s all it would take.
It isn’t, they would have to make a new game mode with the same functions, just without the inclusion of aircraft.
Once again one scout = one f-18 spawn or whatever cas of your choice, thank you airstrike mechanic.
It seems you’re willfully ignoring what i said. As in custom battles the entirety of the framework is already there as it is set up for combined arms in ground custom with a toggle built in. It should not be that hard for a dev team to drag and drop that in to set up a new mode and rename the existing grb to combined.
I would re-balance CAS by adding a SPAA matching the battle rating to the spawn, with an AI that increases in skill per CAS kill in a battle. I would also triple the cost of CAS and put radar SPAA in higher BRs ( 8.0+ instead of 7.3 or lower?). In addition, I would re-balance CAS in order to push for tech equivalency.

just remove it already
Nah
Would be funny to see their face after shooting down their 3k sp super hornet with sm sv.
Spawning an airplane with only A2A capabilities should be as expensive or cheaper than a tank imo in any BR.
Exceptions: Yak-9s since their gun is basically a CAS weapon.
For low BRs where even standard belts CAN be dangerous:
If you are using ground targets belt the spawn cost should increase, air targets belt should bring the cost down to the minimum.
At most you are a danger to open top vehicles, but that would expose you to enemy AA or Air.
If you bring a Rafale/EF in GRB with only Fox-2s and Fox-3s the cost should be as much as for a tank, since you cant get a Nuke or really win the ground game or have any impact on it, and your gun can at best kill a deployed AA.
Yeah, its never made sense to me why:
SPAA costs 70
Heli with only AA costs 200-250
Fixed wing with guns and/or Fox 1/2 costs 500-550
Fixed with with Fox-3 costs 700.
Its actually kinda insane the cost for CAP.
Id dramatically drop the base spawn cost for fixed wing down to at least the same as a heli, around 200. Then just increase the cost of the loadout options to compensate, but I would dramatically drop, if not outright remove the cost for A2A weapons. Id maybe even remove the SP cost for ammo belts past a certain point, like 11.0. Because if you are getting gunstrafe kills at that BR, then I think you’ve earnt it tbh.
Just needs a block on first spawn, and sorted. CAP becomes waaaaay more viable for countering CAS, because at the moment, its just not economically viable to spawn in a CAP most of the time.
Then on a case by case basis / BR to BR, increase the cost for certain gun types / ammo belts so that gunstrafing at lower BRs is balanced too, or at a bare minimum, just have the base SP Cost drop around 10.0 (where guided CAS starts to really become prominent)
Very true, but I still do it out of pure hatred for CAS players, it is very entertaining watching them fly in a straight line as my Fox-3 approaches.
I still do it because I find CAP gameplay more fun than playing a tank.
But yeah, there is some hilariously bad CAS players out there that have no idea what to do vs another aircraft. A rapid triple kill with the FRS1 was probably one of my more recent-ish highlights.
Though they really need to fix Heli radar signatures to be detectable by aircraft, that drives me nuts
