So just now I had an Alouette show up at 3km and guess what, my Stingers couldn’t lock it so I was just standing there in my Stormer AD, looking at him just shooting my teammates while I had zero opportunity to counter him.
Why can’t my 10.0 SPAA engage 8.3 CAS that’s well within it’s operational range ?
CAS/ and CAP is working in WT more like a kill streak reward, needing more sp, giving more performance. The system itself tells that CAS should be strong, and can inevadibly push the balance of a game to the already wining side.
So Gaijin made AAA and let them be at lower sp, willing that it can make players counter planes with a ‘unique’ AA shooting skill, unique for difference from usual tank battles.
From my view this is working good enough in ww2 battles, collapsed in cold war and broken in modern, since both the planes and the AA are getting to an extreme, precise weapons eliminates half a team, pantsirs kills everyone that is not a gen-3, limits moves of gen3 CAS&CAP, destroying AGMs… while vt1 does nothing for their 12km range…
Got the basis of my view so far, lemme think about solutions tomorrow
Just found that high tier AAA is more effective at CAP instead of CAS… CAP planes are less aware of the ground both psychologically and physically (lack of targeting pods), and cannot perform effective attack on enemy planes at a range long enough. e.g. There is a VT1 carrier and a su39 mid map. If you launches a missile out of 12km, su39 have the time to finish his attack and notch whatever you have launched. If you are within 12km, try to deal with VT1 with your poor g load and energy…
So can we reduce CAP sp and increase AAA sp, making poison as a medicine?
1- No, CAS already costs borderline too much where it’s OP. This will not change it being OP.
2- Yes, this is the only way to finally have balance at top BR.
3- No, this doesn’t work in other games and wouldn’t work here either. A good way to cause negative reviews.
4- Plausible.
5- Already in-game.
The osa is good for its br at 10.0 ish sadly it doas absolutely nothing to address the cas Imbalance we have at 11.7-12.0
And for that we need proper aa
Meaning at minimum a pantsir tor m1 equivalent
20km+ Range and tws/multi Target guidance
How will you “re-balance” the PE8 dropping bombs from four thousand feet onto a tank with not even a machine gun on the roof ?
Do you guys think you need to use a new phrase because balance is certainly not the right word .War is not balanced like a soccer game.So many of you seem to think it should be.
Well in real life Medium and long range aa existed in-game its short range only
Also real life also has aa batteries not 1 or 2 aa vehicles Sitting at or Close too 1-2 predefined locations
So in the cold war you could choose between fly high eat s200 fly lower get eaten by Tunguska fly lower than that get eaten by shilkas lots of of them
So no it’s not realistic at all
Just looked it up the first s200 missile which is older than the Roland btw has a ceiling of 20km and a range of 160km and it also lists a sa5 missile complex has Having 3 Launch sites whit 6 launchers each so no
Something like the tram Flying at 7-12km altitude dropping laser guided bombs untouched was never a thing in RL
And Nato had similar systems
The Brits had a ramjet missile in the 1950s
Finally got to 9.7 Germany. I don’t have any CAS planes or Fighters for this Br. But, i hardly ever fly them anyways and right now I have 3 potential anti-air role vehicles so feeling very comfortable on carrying games better by taking on CAS whenever its needed. I haven’t counted properly but also died to CAS like 3 or 4 times out of 30+ games. Going by feeling, would need to watch my replays to count them to have the exact numbers.
So far, my Ozelot has 1 death/21 air kills within a few matches. Will probably be able to maintain a 4+ K/D if I continue playing it correctly like the my SANTAL (23 deaths/139 air kills) 6.05 K/D. My normal 8.3 Gepard has a 6.5 K/D (counting air and ground kills). So it’s possible to maintain a very high K/D with SPAA, all depends on players knowledge. 🫡Just improve your playstyles and you will be fine.
You can have great K/D but still feel like crap while being outranged by CAS below your BR. Helicopters are especially nasty if you’re playing IR slingers, considering how hard it is to lock even starter helicopters within their effective range.
So no, having high K/D doesn’t mean SPAA vs CAS is balanced, especially in higher tiers.
