If this is not a shadow nerf, i dont know anything about this game

F-14 has something off when we talk about flaring. Its extremely unreliable, i remmember it being bad back when it got added against non IRCCM missiles and its even worse to this day.

I have tried different maneuvers and strategies and there is not a single one thats somewhat reliable if its not front aspect. In this case, i completely turned off my engine and still got hit by R-73.

And before someone come here and say, “but you flared too much” this works with other planes and you dont even need to turn your engine off. If any of you think i suck at the game, i play this thing since 2014 and you can play the F-14 by yourself.

f14 is very hot, always has been, similar to the harriers
and bol pods kinda suck

couple both of those with some bad luck and you get this

Did you watched the video?

Turning off your engines, still hot targets against the background of the relatively cold sky

Against narrow FOV IRCCM missiles

I don’t believe there’s a difference when it comes to these IR missiles whether it is background against the cold sky or the warmer ground.

As i prob already said above, Its still very doable in other planes in even worse situations. And you can try the f14 by yourself.

There isnt. only against the sun

If it’s a bug then they need to fix it, but if this is the natural result of an IR missile with IRCCM becoming harder to flare off against a rather large aircraft with two different widely separated engines, then this is the natural consequence.

Why would all-aspect missiles look at only the engines and not also the hot large airframes?

Doable on occasion, but not reliable because its a bad flaring technique

Well i dont think we are playing the same game, because preflaring side aspect against r-73 is very effective, unless extremelly close. Almost 4km shot there

Tbh I find it wired it could be that you did flare to much as they go directly behind the aircraft instead of down or up
Usually I just turn down the throttle 100-50% and flare 2 twice and one or half a sec in between it would work but maybe something did change

Backwards dispensing flares that leave the FOV almost immediately

Made worse by flying directly across the missile

IRCCM that reduces FOV on lock on, not on launch

Not a good technique

i tried that too. works very well in F-15C GE. Same layout: Two engines, similar engine temperature, BOL flares popping behind and its a normal experience. The f14 otherwise…

F-15 have even a higher temperature when the engine is 0%

Btw the report is gonna shut down because it’s like 4 different issues in one which you’re not allowed to do.

yes? did you read what i said?

Judging by the clip missile locked on your plane center (bvvd himself said they dont aim for engines currently) and kept lock because flares were popping outside of its fov. And side aspect launch contributed to that a lot. If it was rear/front aspect launch you could just fart out a cloud of flares in the missile seeker and leave.

yeah, f14 is hot, like many other planes, but in this case the engine was off. Thats why your answer is generic and looks like you did not watched the video

i mean i didnt even need to watch the video to tell that the engine was off, considering you said that you did it

but a hot engine cools down much slower so turning it off is less effective

plus currently as other have mentioned IR signatures work in strange ways which hopefully may get fixed next update with the IR missile changes

Thats interesting. is this new? (the missile not locking the engines) Does it locks center mass then? It seems kinda weird. It should lock the hottest region which is the engines. unless its an IRIST that has image locking

no, just an oversimplification of how things work by gaijin to make it easier for them to implement, been how missiles have worked since theyve been in game, just only really noticable with larger planes
