Before the rudder fix, i absolutely hated this plane, it felt like it had no playstyle. People would usually parrot stuff like “just bnz bro”, which was impossible, but now that the fix is here, they are right that this plane is too strong for 4.7
You can outrun and outclimb pretty much everything with that insane engine. even Bf109s that are 2km above can’t catch you, as long as you have some altitude stored in the ballz
It should go back to at least 5.0-5.3

Anybody with brains didn’t want it at sub 5.3 to begin with, rudder problem or not. It belongs at 5.7 now. It won’t happen because of who is playing it. (USA playerbase, hi PyroAddict!)

Also not enough to make it the BR it is.
noobs not knowing how to aim getting gaijin to put a 6.0 plane at 4.7 is honestly insane imo, gives you a very good idea of how terribly designed their br system is

mb forgot probably confused it with the 20mm Corsair
And what of the P-51C? Same armament, easier to fly, and still a respectable 20 meters per second climb rate.
What makes the 20 - 28 meter per second climb rate of F-8F worthy of 2BRs higher? The Spitfire LF Mk9 with better weapons and a 30 meter per second climb rate sits at 5.7… oh and vastly superior dogfight performance.
BF109G6 gets to 5000 meters in 3 minutes 49 seconds.
F8F 3 minutes 46 seconds.
Just as one example.
@simsimkek
What 6.0 plane has 4x 50 cals? None.
P51H5NA is more powerful than even the F8F with 20mm cannons because of its flight performance.
Most 5.7s are superior to the 4 50 cal one, many 5.0s are superior to the 4 50 cal one.
This is basic cross-analysis.

that thing is nuts for the BR in air, and its a revenge bomber’s wet dream just like every other american fighter
Yes and no.
Yes - from the perspective of an experienced pilot.
No - if you consider the in-game reality regarding average player skill.
I mean it is now seven months since the BR reduction - and the effectiveness of the aircraft is still solely connected to the skill/experience of the player.
With a neutral and sober view on things you might agree that the overwhelming majority of players uses the very good climb and speed performance more or less exclusively to head-on the first enemy they see as fast a possible - whilst a smaller fraction uses it as base bomber.
The chances to meet actually experienced players flying the 4.7 F8F is rather low. This depends (ofc) on daytime and server choice.

Lost count how many times I seen F8F players blow their altitude, barely climb, or blow it all trying to sustain-fight some grass-breather.
It’s really fine at 5.0, its armament hold its back, but it can make up for it with its engine power. Though with the looks of it and just my anecdotal experience, the F8F might stay in 4.7 indefinitely.
Off topic but at the same time, I would like to raise the Yak-3 plus Eremin’s Yak-3 in +0.3 BR. So the Yak-3 would be 4.7, and Eremins would be 4.3.

Well.this is historical gameplay. The F8F was American version of the Zero, it’s even got the turbocharger taken off.
Totally agree - but if the game develops as in the last years we might even see a 4.3 BR 😉
Yak-3s - totally agree.

I have no idea how often a single experienced player in a Yak-3 (4.0 & 4.3) ruined my matches. Not because i got killed, just because they killed so many friendlies that you lose the TDM.
-
If you are not able to identify them early game and at least neutralize them by keeping them busy the games are lost - especially small matches like 6 vs 6 - 12 vs 12.
-
You are literally forced to take them out as first target to have a chance for a turnaround - but you lose 90% of those matches due to tickets as his team farms them.
This is not correct. From multiple angles😉
The F8F was designed as lightweight fleet defender able to operate from escort carriers (which the F6F could not use) and the plane had a supercharger (turbo is another thing) optimized to operate at low alt; the lack of high alt power is based on the goal of weight reduction (no need adding weight for 2nd or 3rd stages) as actual combat altitudes in the Pacific war were up to 4 km alt.
