I can still find them every so often by playing 3.3/3.7 Japanese or American naval aircraft.
How about you?

I haven’t seen them in rotation in QUITE a while, they were real fun though.
Yeah I used to really like them. Unfortunately now they mostly seem to be just 6 or 7 per side, with Japan having all (or nearly all) single engine fighters (or 4 B7A2 / SB2C-5 “bombers”), with the allies having big bombers, strike and only a couple of fighters, thus most matches are pretty one-sided.
And now with the recent carrier changes you can’t even take off from a carrier (when you have a naval plane). Quite sad.
What are you talking about?
I miss Norway. Even though it was asymmetric both sides had a chance of victory.
As long as you play below 5.3 (=A7M2 & Ki-84) you can win 1 vs all in a plain 3.7 P-47 in constant full uptiers (thx to F8F spam) - simply because you are untouchable - just get above 6 km and avoid damages at all cost.
Imho the “bomber” SB2C-5 reduced the average skill level of JP teams significantly - way too many “power-grinders” in those planes
I flew there recently - with a full US team in a US P-47 D-28 .
From my pov the current player generation is not smart enough to play on maps which requires more than point and click.
I played 1 vs 8-11 after ~ 8 minutes - in a full uptier. One single kill (their only bomber, B-17) after 6 minutes and I won by tickets as i outfueled their 2 109 K-4s and (ofc) 2 I-225s.
All they had to do was to kill them remaining 50% of our last base (we killed all 3 of theirs) to win. By using 2 useless 5 minute orders i extended so far that they could not reach me. They had one extremely experienced Su-8 player which killed around 30 landing craft - but even he was not able to come to the right conclusions…
As i watched the replay various times: These bloody contrails are visible more than 40 km away…
I also find you get very little reward for destroying vessels such as carriers or destroyers etc.
