It’s not outclassed when it, itself, has an extremely hard time dying to anything in particular. Massively overperforming thermal signature, massively overperforming damage model, and an overperforming flight model all add up to make a cancerous vehicle to face. Anything it can catch, it simply kills (if you aren’t a bad F-5 pilot) and anything it can’t catch also can’t kill it
In my experience the F-5C’s are easy kills all you have to do is catch them if they are climbing or any bit slow because they lose there low speed performance. I would be happy if it lost its flares and went down atp.
Thats just Gaijin being lazy to change it to its correct designation. Was never intended for ground attack and even in the Falklands, did very little and was designed to intercept soviet shadowers.
Given other “multiroles” like the Phantom FGR2 are classed as fighters. This should be a reason to hard lock it to being a strike fighter.
In a 10.3 line up in GRB this is really annoying because you cant spawn both the Jaguar GR1A and the Sea Harrier FRS1e in the same match without massively SP cost increases
SHar is double pop and takes around 10 flares to defeat a well fired Aim-9E fired at the SHar. It takes 1 to defeat a 9L fired at an F-5
F-5C and FRS1e radars are near enough identical in performance for ARB. SHar has the advantage in ASB as it has IFF.
I trust my experience. Also, not only would it have to lose flares but all bugs relating to its thermal signature, damage model, and flight model would have to be adjusted (read: nerfed heavily) as well
Could you please provide some documents proving its engines are burning to cold and its flight model is over preforming? IK gaijin makes up a lot of stuff but still.
Same BR as F-105D though. Same issues but even worse FP (it gets 4 9E tbf, but let’s be honest we would both take 2 magic 1 over those)
Id think it would be 10.3 then, especially since stuff like F-105D is at 10.0 without any flare or chaff aswell
At least F-105D can accelerate past Mach 1 without having to wait 4 minutes.
It’s a bomber too, they have naturally higher BRs because they’d be unkillable otherwise if balanced off AA capabilities.
Ir Signatures are based upon thrust.
F-5s have low thrust and therefore are ice cold. In contrast something like a SHar has a LOT of thrust and is extremely hot. Especially at lower air speeds
Grimtax compared the IR signatures of an F-5 on full reheat against that of the F-117 using the Su-27s IRST
F-5 was colder
Its FM was modeled using USSR docs or something and US docs for it arent accepted to nerf it or something. Its really wierd

I don’t need to regarding its engine temp. It’s widely known they overperform for anybody who knows better and routinely faces it. They act like PROP engines in game. The F-5 RIVALS the F-117, a REAL stealth aircraft, at IR masking.
Idk. Starfighter can be dealt with with AIM-9D slingers like Ayit, and that’s faster than an F-105
If never seen anyone need more than one flare pop for a 9e especially if you turn off your engine for like .5 seconds. Maybe that is a SHar problem.
F5C has no radar at all.

Yes, it is a Shar Problem. But the reason why the SHar is so hot, is also the reason why the F-5 is so cold. (I’ve had an F-5E 1 flare defeat a rear-aspect Aim-9M before)

Nah it is DEFINITELY too cold by a lot. There is no shot this thing is similar to F-117 heat sig with 2 ancient afterburning engines

MiG-21SMT is the best 10.3 because its just undertiered for zero reason
