The hunter hawkers, I’m sure for some of you you’ve maybe never played them or noticed them all that much but as someone who has played the entirety of Britain and is now playing France a plane that appears in both tech trees is the hunter hawker.
The lowest BR these planes appear in is 9.0 at first you may think this is balanced and fair but even at 9.0 you consistently get matched against MiG 21’s SU 25’s and A10’s to name a few specific jets the issue arises when 90% of the hunters have no counter measures at all aside from the German variant all others have no counter measures and mediocre armament (either aim 9B’s or SRAAM missiles), this makes flying these planes incredibly painful because you will be returned to your hangar almost every game without fail due to a R-60, aim-9 of some kind that can pull 20G or more.
without counter measures you stand no chance at all you will not evade these missiles you wont out pace the missiles if you see that little triangle reading “missile” u may as well just J out right there and then.
The only chance you have is if you fly the German variant that comes with counter measures and 20G IR missiles, that or you fly the British hunter f.6 with rocket pods to use as make shift counter measures.
in my opinion these jets (excluding the German variant) either need to be given counter measures as they would perform averagely at their current BR or reduced in BR to some extent so I am not facing up to 35G missiles every game with no hope in hell of avoiding or surviving them.
ive no idea which one of those 2 ideas is better but these planes are fun as hell to fly IF you get a down tier as unless you are absolutely amazing at flying these aerial interceptors/energy fighters you’ll do fairly well and offer up some good fights but when matched at there current BR AND lacking countermeasures you have no shot unless you avoid all combat and pray the enemy waste all there missiles early on
Well, not if you explicitly exclude the “German” variant: Picture shows ex-Swiss Hunter Mk.58 J-4104, here in the later private “Miss Demeanour” paint scheme when she flew in the UK with the tail number G-PSST. Originally she was a RAF F.4, before being sold to Switzerland and converted to a F.58A…
I meant like added to the game like how we had a few that where community made added recently. Also imaging seeing that color scheme I would be so confusing to look at you would stare then die.
Hunter F1 should have gone down to 8.7 when the others moved down like the F-86. As per their own statement on this issue:
Spoiler
The Hunter FGA9 needs to match the BR of the French Hunter F6, they are close enough to be considered the same aircraft. in ARB this is now the case, in ASB they have a difference of 0.7, with the F6 at 9.0 still and the FGA9 at 9.7. They both need to go to 9.3 or 9.0. They should not be at different BRs.
RAF Hunter F6…
Is tricky. SRAAMs have potential… With fixes like increased range and TVC Fixes they would become far more effective, and whilst it cant get full all-aspect without a BR increase which should be avoided, we could get better rear aspect angles than we have now. These changes need to come first and then the aircraft needs to be reviewed again. Unfortunately it cannot get CMs. But something it can get is external fuel tanks, which would allow you to ditch a load of weight when you enter combat which would help.
As a final buff for the Hunter F6, they can get an upgraded engine
Hunter F58, is likely at about the right BR, but could move to 10.0, but there is a lot of compression at that BR.
French Hunter F6, is about right at 9.3 now, I have already mentioned the issues regarding its BR in Sim.
The final thing needed is something like the Omani Hunter or Singapore Hunter to finally give Britain a more modern Hunter that matches the Hunter F58
