There is a character ‘>’ and the entire name of the selected weapon. It is very easy to use.
Now, if you find this hard to see, it’s probably hard for you to see anything else on the HUD either. Speed, number of weapons, engine temps, everything. This is a problem with your HUD scale setting or eyesight, not with the design of the HUD.
I think you didn’t understand (or you simply haven’t yet played with aircrafts carrying many different secondary weapons at the same time)
The issue is not that the name of the selected weapon is not shown
The issue is that the name of unselected weapons are also shown
And it’s not like you have a list of all weapons and a character next to the selected one either
But rather you have a list of weapon types (AAM/AGM/GBU/…)
So in essence you have to find a single character in a wall of text, then read the name that is currently shown on the same line
Or we could have a sane interface that only shows the name of the selected weapon …
I have never had any issues with weapon selector in game even with multiple weapons of different types on my aircraft I would recommend rebinding your key binds that work better with you style of play if you’re using default key binds.
It’s not about category
It’s about multiple models for each category
AGM: AGM-113A and AGM-65D
AAM: AIM-120B and AIM-9M
GBU: GBU-39 (And you could potentially carry other GBU types simultaneously as well, but I usually don’t)
I dunno, I’ve flown a lot of types with multiple weapons types of multiple store categories all the time, but never had any issue about exactly knowing what I got selected and left. Maybe could be a problem if at the same time you bring 3 different bombs or missiles, which is quite unusual in my experience…
Can you see the AIM-9M here? no you don’t
All you see is “4 AIM-120B”
You have to select either AIM-120B or AIM-9M for it to actually show you that you have two AAM types left.
So the current system is completely pointless, because if they remove the name of unselected weapons, you could still see you have two types of AAMs left when you select an AAM, just like you can do now …
I mean that’s not true at all for example planes like the F18 and Eurofighter’s etc have MFD pages that show the weapons on each pylon and what is selected. Also you can always look at your aircraft and see what you got attached if need be.
