Hello everyone today I’m proposing the addition of the Leopard 2A7HU Urban Operations as standalone vehicle to reinforce the top tier lineup.
The Leopard 2, the story so far:
Spoiler
The Leopard 2 is a main battle tank from Germany and one of the most used MBT in the world. Its history started in the 1970s when the West German army needed a modern tank to replace the older Leopard 1.
At first, Germany and the United States tried to design a highly advanced tank together called the MBT-70/Kpz-70. However, the project was deemed too expensive and complicated, so it was canceled.
After that, German engineers used what they learned to build the Leopard 2 by themselves, it officially entered service in 1979.
It quickly became very popular around the world thanks to its powerful 120mm gun and excellent armor.
Over the years, the Leopard 2 has been updated many times to keep up with modern battlefield threats. The most common early version was the Leopard 2A4, which featured a digital fire control system and improved armor.
Later, the Leopard 2A5 introduced a distinctive wedge-shaped turret armor for even better protection.
The Leopard 2A6 added a longer 120mm gun to increase its range and firepower.
Today, the newest models like the Leopard 2A7 and 2A8 feature advanced electronics, improved cooling, and modular armor systems.
Because of its excellent reputation, the tank is not just used by Germany. It is currently in service with over 20 different countries, including Canada(Leopard 2A4MCAN and Leopard 2A6MCAN), Spain(Leopard 2E, an indigenous variant of the Leopard 2A6), Poland(Leopard 2PL a modernized 2A4), Finland(Leopard 2A4 and 2A6), Greece(Leopard 2A4 and 2A6), Turkey(Leopard 2A4 and modernization of the former), and Ukraine, making it one of the most widely used main battle tanks in the world.
Leopard 2A7 in hungarian service:
Spoiler
The Leopard 2A7HU is the MBT chosen by Hungary, in December 2018, to modernize its aging armored forces that, like many other eastern european contries, were equipped with T-72 variants.
The first of fourtyfour Leopard 2A7HU was received in Hungary the 5th of December 2023 and the delivery of the full fleet was completed on December 12, 2025.
All the Leopard 2A7HU are currently assigned to the Klapka György 1st Armored Brigade.
These Leopard haven’t seen the battlefield yet but have taken part to a lot of exercises already.
Hungary also has leased 12 Leopard 2A4.
The Urban Operations kit:
Spoiler
The Urban Operations kit aims to improve the armor all around and was made to counter shaped charges that could be encountered, as the name suggests, in urban environments were the tanks tend to be easy targets for the infantry.
Technical Information:
Spoiler

“the base version is 67,5tons but the weight of a Leopard 2A7HU equipped with the add on armour, IED protection, approaches/nears 73 ton”
The weight ingame is probably wrong as the Leopard 2A7+ prototype was weighted at 67,500kg with the UrbOp kit installed.
