2S38 is in serial production, in service this year.
It’s not obscure at all, and it’s not buffed “beyond reasoning”.
It doesn’t even have its correct ammo feed system.
It has the HSTV-L system before auto-replenishment was added.
I have to be surgical against all top MBTs except for Leclerc & Ariete.
not that it isnt still strong but the 2s38 recently not sure what they changed but its ammo is far more sensitive than when it was released
This is just not true, demonstrably. Go into test range with any rank 7 russian tank and shoot at the Abrams on the right. You can pen it form most of the frontal region with the exception of the turret cheeks. Now do the same from the American side. The only place you can kill that russian tank is when you shoot the driver’s hatch (like 25 cm opening) or if you shoot just underneath the driver (which is just a gamble most of the time due to no spalling).
2S38 is nowhere to be found in real life combat footage or ORYX.
A vehicle that isn’t deployed to a war is still a real vehicle.
Next you’ll claim SEP V3 doesn’t exist cause it’s not in combat.
Sure, we can just say it does not exist. We don’t really have to speculate its performance. We know the track record of older Abrams tanks and most russian tanks (also other vehicles obv) from real life events.
For obscurity: a youtube video saying 2S38 has AA capability but not showing it in action is not comparable to seeing something like the Rheinmetall AHEAD ammunition in action in multiple occasions. For all we know 2S38 is a more boxier BMP3 with a malformed turret. If it is not obscure then provide your sources.
No, because saying a real vehicle doesn’t exist would be lying.
2S38 has anti-aircraft capability because that’s what it was designed for.
Saying it was designed for anti-aircraft capability doesn’t mean it has anti-aircraft capability. That needs to be demonstrated. All of the IRL footage you can find on this vehicle is it just sitting stationary shooting at close range stationary targets or to nothing. In one of the clips you can clearly see the bullet drop it has with tracer rounds and it is not even comparable to the lack of bullet drop in game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb11zZhiIko - Measure the time between the bullet exit and curve from the same angle in game as well as the timing between shots. I’ll make a video with the same angle showing the drop at some point. But you can easily test this in test range to verify.
As a comparison, the Rheinmetall youtube page will literally show you the intercepts from multiple perspectives on different videos on each platform in high quality footage. They will show the stabilization of their IFVs at high speeds on uneven terrain too.
Again, please provide your sources on the real capabilities of this vehicle so we can get on the same page.
That video seems accurate to the HE round on in-game.
Dude, hatred for vehicles is not healthy.
I’ve tried all of the rounds on this vehicle, there is clearly a difference on each from the video. I dislike or sometimes hate the inaccuracy and bias in the game, this vehicle is a prime example of both. Though it does speak volumes when you are not providing sources but instead attacking me directly.
Whenever there is any valid criticism of a russian vehicle on this forum you seem to be in the comments saying “no uh”. There is a clear pattern in your responses to people on these topics. Most of your reasoning on these vehicles do not live up to the real statistics of their performance either. So your love for the russian vehicles is not healthy.
2S38 needs to be removed from them game, but Gaijin makes to much money from sale to bots accounts
Weird of you to accuse all vehicles ever made of being Russian.
No it does not. That’s like saying Stryker MGS should be removed from the game.
its fine being in the game the way it was added was slightly scummy being announced at the very last second
The name of the complete unit is literally “Derivative Air Defense” and is a tech demonstrator.
No, your bias towards Russia has been obvious to all of us who’ve seen your posts, and could be considered unhealthy. You almost can’t be considered to have a neutral conversation because you always support Gaijin and Russia. It’s all here on your comments for proof. If I’m wrong my mistake, but I believe I’m correct.
And now you’re accusing the entire planet of being Russia.
Wow…
Dude, the planet isn’t Russia. There are 170+ countries.
All I’ve done is correct people that push hate.
No, I’m speaking to you, of you only. Again, as someone above said, we see your bias in your comments. Every time it’s defending this company or Russian vehicles. It’s a pattern. I don’t think I’ve seen you defend other nations vehicles here unless I’m wrong. So what do you call that? Or if you have it’s been very little. Almost always defending any criticism of Russian vehicles or Gaijin.
And my post or comments is not hate. It’s about vehicles in this game that are seeming to be obviously biased and acting better than others or how they should. I’m not talking about people or real nations. That would be hate. I’m talking about how unfair and uncompetitive this game feels very often, for certain nations or against certain nations. Or unrealistic. It’s about the vehicles, and their performance. As my post states.
I’m not sure what that picture is trying to demonstrate but here is a better comparison. First 5 shots on each, perspective match on last bullet + barrel with warthunder image overlaid over IRL footage at 68% opacity. The spread and the bullet drop differences are obvious. The slightly brighter bullets are HE rounds in the game. The more sparse and slightly dimmer lights are bullets from the IRL footage.
My bias is toward facts, everyone can see this.
I’ve commented nothing on “Russian” vehicles other than bragging how superior my American equipment is to Soviet equipment, which is defending American equipment, while attacking Soviet equipment.
How is it “Russian bias” to brag about American equipment?
How is it “Russian bias” to criticize Soviet equipment?
In addition to this, you can see a difference in time for each shot in a video like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=div_FGRADiA
I’m guessing the game version is 1.5 to 2.0 times faster than the demonstrations IRL.
At 0:56 you can see this green reticle is moving, indicating the shake in the barrel and the return to neutral state. This is not modelled in game. It is clearly a realistic factor that should be included alongside the shot timing difference. But again, this vehicle is clearly overperforming in the game. Like most of the high tier russian vehicles.
So the game in it’s current state is not only unrealistic, it is also highly biased in terms of fairness. Not that a game about war should be fair. But if the intention of this unrealism is fairness then it has been in the wrong part of the spectrum as early as the first T-80s and T-72s in the game. In average, USA and Germany have more of:
- Older vehicles
- Deficiency leaning inaccuracies in each vehicle
- Badly implemented real and demonstrated ammunition and gun characteristics
- Worse premiums and squadron vehicles
- Need for surgical aim compared to russian vehicle’s point and shoot
This vehicle with it’s AA capability in game (again, not demonstrated in any shape or form IRL) is the ultimate form of bias. Given pantsir is now in the game as well, with no anti-radiation missile implementations. No other nation has AA capability comparable offered as a GE purchasable vehicle. (Chinese missile tank seems to be the closest one)
