I don’t know about you, but my AIM-120A are completely broken, the last straw was when two of my AIM-120As went into traps that a straight-flying Su-25 was launching, it didn’t even maneuver. Now in aviation RB I haven’t been able to make a single frag in 10 battles. Even when it seemed like I had a frag, the AIM-120s either simply couldn’t turn, or went into traps, or even flew somewhere up. What’s more, my AIM-120s couldn’t even keep up with a MiG-15 bot.
wdym you haven’t killed anyone? You TK’ed an AI MiG-15 and a player Su-33 on this match with an AIM-120A.
Anyways, how do you usually play the AIM-120? The last change was from March 5 and it was just a HUD text change.
I just asked how to play the AIM-120A now? Previously, my tactics were either to climb higher and fire at those below, or to fly along the edge of the map and come in from the flank, now these tactics do not work, I only launched 4 AIM-120As at the MIG-29 and not a single one hit, despite the fact that the MIG-29 was without speed and at a distance of 6 km. All my missiles went in different directions. As a result, the MIG-29 shot me down an R-77-1, from which I could not escape using traps.

if i play planes with amraam i ussually do top down attack(direct above them like 60 to 80angle) or bvr, firing from low to high altitude in 6 to 10km range
if you want use its fnf mode fire at 16km range. do not spam it some players go in to notch or use multipath. if you cant hit some body i thing firing it from too far away or when someone doing defensive moves
My rockets also started to go into the ground, although the plane was just flying near the ground.
I did exactly the same, but recently the AIM-120s have simply started to go into traps, as if they were some kind of AIM-9s. And if you shoot from above and the plane is flying near the ground, the AIM-120 simply crashes into the ground. They can’t turn.
when i play the AIM-120B (Gripen), i fly low and only really fire if they’re >20km, if i fire closer (>5km) then they have to be moving towards me and not near multipath alt. for BVR, its more of a sharp top-down angle
You shot at the Mig-29 first at 40km relying on IOG, ofc it’s gonna fail. Your 2nd shot got notched and went to friendly JF-17*, the rest were just poor steep-angle shots against a multipathing MiG-29 going in a direction that easily give it an opportunity to notch, you got reversed and barely had time to maneuver against their close shot. Funnily enough, if you brought an AIM-9M you could have made that kill lol (possibly)
TL;DR Poor shots led to your demise
*This TK, actually probably saved the MiG-29 when I think about it
i just watched your replay. and found your first missile notched by ef2000. and your second amraam somehow switched target to friendly. 3-th amraam switched too, 4th one was defeated by multipath
and r77 got you by mig29.
i saw you shot your amraam not from above. you flying near ground and the target you shot was below 60m so its protected by multipath. so my advice for your play style. 1-if there some one above you, fire missile at the 5 to 10km range. 2-if there is some one low flying same as you, try to toss the amraam at 50 or 60 dergees angle with the seeker seeing the target
or bringing 9m is good choice too
I haven’t opened the AIM-120B yet, but as I was told, it is no different from the AIM-120A, although Wikipedia says that the AIM-120B is more resistant to jamming and decoys.
in game its functionally the same, irl its a slight upgrade to electronics and seeker iirc
Sadly Gaijin do not model the differences in seeker heads with only a 2 having unique values the Aim-54 and the MICA
