Yeah the N1K feels like a bus. In reality when flown by elite 343 海軍航空隊 pilots it was anything but
You can’t in most practical situations, unless you want to receive reports for “passive play” by running and flying to the space.
The P47 “playstyle” is to kill as many ground targets as possible, or head on someone before you inevitably die.
This plane is better played in arcade where it’s decently manuverable (obviously don’t turnfight too much) and can slaughter furballs.
The N1K’s should be 5.7 or atleast 5.3, The Ki-84 otsu has the same armament and engine as the N1K2J/Ja, but the former performs better than it. Even the A7M2 with its wide ass wings roll better than the N1K’s. Sickening!
My dude, .50 cals are completely fine. Even four .50s on stuff like the P-51C have absolutely no problems crippling enemy aircraft in short bursts, the P-47s 8x .50s absolutely shred anything that gets in front of them
real talk? fuck the LF Mk9, literally playing the game on easy mode when you fly that PoS.
This covers some misconceptions.
Notably - how to dive/extend away.
Differences of what top speed, a good diver and all that mean.
It’s aimed at sim, but some of it is transferable to RB.
I am not sure if this is relevant to OP though alas, as Navy fighters are… quite a bit more versatile than thunderbolts. Even mustangs I feel are more versatile.
I’ve already seen this video, and more or less it boils down to the same problems as other videos (basically it capitulating that you’re almost always going to be in a worse position than a turn fighter and that you’re very vulnerable when extending regardless of speed).
4x 0.50 cals against 2.7-3.7 planes is very different than 8x 0.50 cals against 4.0-5.0 (or higher) planes. Especially when comparatively 4x 0.50 cals at 3.7 is much better than 8x 0.50 cals at 5.0.
Too true lol, it completely ruins balance at that BR. Yak-3U is also a huge offender, being faster with better energy retention, able to keep 500kph+ in dogfights.
Idk which one is more cancerous, i havent flown the lf mk9 yet but the yak3u i have and its a joke how easy the 3U is to play with, but i still shit my pants when im forced to dogfight a spit mk9 because its able to follow me in a vertical
I’d say LF is worse just because so many 3U pilots don’t know how to play and immediately get reversed super easily because they’re keeping too much speed. LF doesn’t do that.
oh uh that totally didnt happen to me numerous times uuuuh nope, no sir
Like what @SpeclistMain1 said. Early aircraft are entirely weaker compared to 5.0-6.0 aircraft. I’ll have my P-47 strike the wing of a Bf-109 G/6 or A7M multiple times and it does minimal damage or damage that still renders them capable of getting away or fighting back. and I’ll still have to do 3-4 passes depending on how slippery they are and most of the time. I’ve used half my ammo, or I’m down to at least 1200 rounds. 1 20mm and 1 hit can completely decimate an aircraft at any BR unless you have a particularly weird DM.
P47 is a dedicated fighter afaik… it didn’t enter service to do CAS
I saw nothing
In this context, it isn’t. BR has no concept for this case. A lot of aircraft at the 2.0->2.7 battle bracket are fighting P-51C’s a good pilot makes the damn thing a pain in the ass to fight.
It’s no different from a P-51D fighting aircraft at its BRs. With certain exceptions. Being more cautious about your situation.
But once again, if you put a good(I didn’t say excellent) pilot into both situations, he will do relatively fine.
He since the skills learned from the lower BRs do transfer well into other game modes, but also into different battle ratings. Since those skills will become more seasoned.
Its 1.0 higher, planea arent inherently noticably more armoured at 5.0 vs 4.0, except maybe some thicker bulletproof glass and pilot seat armour which only effects pilot snipes (and only on some aircraft)
Plus you have DOUBLE the number of guns.
Heres a video of me playing a P-47 and one tapping an enemy with it: https://youtu.be/exegLrHDnEU
Plus plus there are still US planes like the P-51H up at 6.3 with 6x .50s and they still do absolutely fine.
If gou are waating half your amo om one kill, thata entirely a skill issue.
20mms can 1 shot but they also can go straight through and do nothing.
On fifty cals,
What’s your convergence at?
What’s your shooting range at?
How long are your individual bursts, usually?
Fifty cals IME are very, very sensitive to convergence. Hispanos slash AN/M2 don’t really care if they strike wings or fuselage, that plane is going down.
While fifty cals, if they land en masse in the body striking the fuel tank - there’s gonna be a big fire and that plane is not gonna be putting it out.
However, if you hit a wing and you’re not hitting the wing spars or traction of control surfaces or the control surfaces themselves… it’s not going to do much for most aircraft (some will become crippled by having a yellowed wing and become easy prey for follow-up shots as they lose the ability to roll effectively).
So, shooting within gun convergence and aiming for the fuselage (unless you know the target has wing mounted fuel tanks or has multiple engine pods in its wing) makes a massive difference for fifty cal power.
2.7-3.7 planes generally have no armor whatsoever, yet at 4.0-5.0 they start to have armor.
“One tapping” is not spraying until you sever their control cables, and then spraying again until he J-ed out or maybe, maybe severed his wing (but the resolution and frame rate is too low to tell). Landing hits on the rear of a wing near the fuselage would’ve severed the wing in one or two shots (usually one), but you barely did anything other than get lucky with the cables.
Except if they can’t do any meaningful damage to most of the airframe (since US 0.50 cals don’t get HE shells), that won’t mean much.
The “spraying” was me being bad at aiming and missing, I would have figured that part was obvious.
The first shot that actually hit him did the severe. There werent even any “hits” that showed up first, it was an instant severe damage.
It was a one second burst to finish him off when he was already going to the ground. That was hardly spraying either.
except they literally do fine. Thats my whole point.
