I just got this bird today and I’m trying to learn all the stuff for it. I’ve played a few battles but I’ve always gotten killed by missiles before I could actually do anything.
I usually launch my Aim120Bs around 30-35 kilometers but they don’t seem to hit anything. Aim9Ms are pretty decent with HMS and I’ve gotten like 1 base with the 500lb bombs.
Take a minimum of fuel, 13 minutes will be enough.
Gain altitude as quickly as possible 12-13 km, ideally 15 km and start looking for targets.
Launch missiles from a distance of 35-45 km.
After you have launched missiles at all targets, fly to base.
You can take additional fuel tanks with you, if the map is large, they will come in handy, if the map is small, then immediately drop them upon takeoff.
Take only AIM-120, you will not need other missiles.
I am sure this will lead to great success and not you being useless for the team! (Any strategy that involves you spamming missiles then RTBing to spam more missiles is a useless strategy that will lead to poor win rates. This missile spam has very low success rates.)
I’m guessing the higher alt will allow the missile to go further since the air is less dense up there so you get fire from longer distances? I use conformal fuel tanks instead of those that sit on pylons
Yeah it felt weird when he said to missile → return to base since I only see people do that when they wanna use those gbu 39s to grind bases and do nothing else
Yes, in addition to altitude, you also need speed, preferably not less than 1400 km per hour. But not on every map you can climb to such a height and maintain speed. A balance of speed and altitude is necessary.
Is there any other gameplay on the F-15E? At close range, the F-15E loses in maneuverability, you will constantly crash into hills and obstacles, the AIM-120 behaves very unpredictably at close range and at low altitudes, all these missiles are not close combat.
The F-15C has a completely different gameplay, the plane has excellent maneuverability and can fight at low altitudes, but it is advisable to take more AIM-9M.
The F-15E is a double decker bus, which means, it’s heavy but can carry a lot of weapons, it should be fun to use AIM-9M and HMD to lock into targets outside the standart locking zone.
That’s why the tactic presented by you, even though is not the best for the team performance, is the best if you don’t really care if you’re winning or not, out of all the missiles you shoot at least one will reach the target.
Unlike the F/A-18 or Rafale C F3 which performs better at close distances, the F-15E is exclusive long range attacker.
Well I don’t think it carries tons of weapons. Compared to Chinese planes sure but eft can carry up to 10 missiles I think 6 of them Aim 9M which are much better for close range
The only problem with this plane is that it shouldn’t engage at close distances, <10 km in this case, I never seen a F-15E carrying more than four or even two AIM-9M, because it’s obvious the reason why.
Only two AIM-9M is enough for close ranges at around 3 km for all aspects and the cannons still works and deals decently damage, so still, it’s a exclusive long range vehicle.
Close range is not somewhere you want to be in the F-15E if you have a chance. Sure a close range hit and run with a AIM-9M is possible, but any prolonged close range fight int he F-15E is usually going to get you killed against the other 14.0s.
Alright so, I’ve been playing the F15E for a bit now and I’ve spaded it but in most matches my missiles basically never hit. I use the usually go ~9km alt and mach 1.3 to fire missiles (within MAR) and from 25km-35km since if I get closer, I just get obliterated by missiles
