How to Evade FOX-3 Radar Missiles

Your interpretation of a dogfight may not be my interpretation ( or rather, good players’ Interpretation) of a dogfight. A furball forms when an uneven number of parties focus on one or two subjects and things become slow and tightly packed. That’s not really the full meaning of a dogfight.
16v16 could’ve worked if given a proper chance and implementation. Instead we go from point A to point B in straight lines and nothing else
A dogfight isn’t just one guy turning after the other, it’s also disengaging from a knife fight and defeating your oh so dreaded IRCCM missiles and engaging the next guy. What we have is sensory overload and clicking single buttons with little brain activity. Butuhh dodging take skill; no it doesn’t just go 3-9. Insert the instant rtb as soon as you’re out of missiles too and no wonder people forget they have a gun.
Geez how uninformed smh my head

I don’t get it.

You sound like those who want to play Leopard 2A7V or T-90M while asking to remove Thermals, Laser Rangefinders and even top performance APFSDS shells from the game because “they make Top Tier boring because it’s just clicking buttons with little brain activity”.

Top Tier ground has auto-adjusting laser rangefinders, shells capable of penetrating more than half a meter of steel and thermals that allow you to see with clarity in any conditions, and Top Tier air has smart, automated missiles with extreme flight and targeting capabilities.

Vehicles from the 1990s and 2000s are just drastically more advanced than 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and even 1970s vehicles. It’s just warfare evolution.

If you want Top Tier vehicles to play like lower tier vehicles because you find the Top Tier mechanics to be “boring low-skill ones” because they provide increased automatised capabilities, maybe Top Tier and modern warfare just aren’t for you.

No need, you won’t. Because all you know is top tier.
Why yes, vehicles did get more advanced but that doesn’t justify nor explain the smoothbrain gameplay in the game at top tier now.
I’m not implying we need removal of things however adjustments can be done to negate both powercreep and improve the experience while actually making people engage their brain and maybe use things they used at reserve tier props ( if they did, skill issue)
(And no, removing mods and giving stock amramms like the free abrams meme isn’t gonna help, let people grind but let them grind smart and in a fun way, an earnable one at least)

It appears you really dislike the implications of Fox-3, modern weapons and radars and their capabilities.

Therefore, here’s a list of BRs you can play without any of those:

1.0
1.3
1.7
2.0
2.3
2.7
3.0
3.3
3.7
4.0
4.3
4.7
5.0
5.3
5.7
6.0
6.3
6.7
7.0
7.3
7.7
8.0
8.3
8.7
9.0
9.3
9.7
10.0
10.3
10.7
11.0

11.3-13.0 is the only BR range where these dreaded features are present. As I said, maybe it’s just not your cup of tea, and there’s nothing wrong with it. You have 31 other BRs you can play without having to think about Fox-3.

To you, “improving the experience” may be to nerf the capabilities of 2000s jet fighters so that they aren’t that much different from the 1970s ones. But, to many of us, “improving the experience” is making 2000s air combat feel like 2000s air combat and not just a reskinned Vietnam-era combat with modern aesthetics.

Nowhere has any of this been said in game. There is no way to learn how to do this inside of war thunder. You can’t do it in the test flight, and there is no other information about it ingame.

All information in the game is severely lacking, especially with radar/rwr/aams. I shouldn’t have to watch a tutorial on YouTube or go to the wiki to get basic information about what my rwr is saying.

Since I’ve got Aim120 unlocked (few h ago), it looks like this:

Cruise at 5k, swich on TWS. When the enemy horde (the brackets…) move in below, lock and shot your 120ties at them. Turn around. Wait for the kills.

Its the pinnacle of lol (semi)afk gameplay. What bs. An average player seems unable to escape this missile, when fired from above. My first deployment resulted in 3 kills for no efford. You don’t even see the enemy. Just green brackets and thats it. Why even developing a graphic engine for this? What are the NPCs and the bases for? No objective can be played anymore. AIM120 is contradicting the whole gamemode.

Its a game. Compromises must be made. Ground players should be able to do their stuff. Bases, NPCing, dogfighting. The bracket shooters can do their thing high alt when they want. Otherwise ppl should be able to actually play the game.

Oh, lmfao sure but don’t teach me how to play the game buddy, not with that monthly air kd. Maybe once ur not fodder there, no offense.

Very bold take. Wonder where i explicitly said they should nerf the new top tiers though.
Sure I may not agree with how air combat is like now, have it your way even, they made it closer to the “2000s” style fighting. I cannot accept it the way current top tier and trees progress into that, there’s much powercreep to be solved. And speaking of vietnam era fighters, are they supposed to see amraams in uptiers? Can you see the problem now?

Which Vietnam era fighters see AMRAAMs in full uptiers? And even if they do 1.) it’s a full uptiers, it’s going to be an uphill battle, or the jet is under BR’d to being with. 2.)Not that unrealistic either fwiw

F-4J, Kurnass 2K ( the same airframe) and the brit phantoms. They may as well be capable and I love to play them but damn do they get stomped by fox3s. Those are just the examples that come to mind for me, if we looked around that era I’m sure we’d find more of those. A slight BR bump at top tier would get them fixed but uhhhh ye that’s not happened yet.

And they only face the “bad” ARH carriers, or Phoenixs which are more of a skill check anyway, and it’s not even unrealistic! US F-4s were literally flying in Desert Storm, and some are still flying today

A BR bump literally just happened with the patch drop! A second one is not going to happen until at least 1 month after, same as every other major, when the BR adjustments come

Counting the AV-8B as a bad carrier’s a sin lol (
( Tho it’s very much funny to farm 11.3 premiums in it).
And no, I dont count 54s, I’m not that much of a bot lol.
Yes, the BR jump happened, the transition is still very rough around the edges though tbh.

awesome, now make an harder and real guide how you should play a stock F4F KWS at 12.7 I’m really curious to understand what you were thinking when you decided to put it at 12.7

If you do what you described then 90% of your AMRAAMs wont hit anything. Supporting the ARH via your own radar until their own seeker turns on then increases hit rate. In the same time you also have to defend from other ARHs, while trying to still maintain support for your own.

Gun down pillboxes. Bomb bases. Dont fly the direct way towards NPC area. With prem account you get several thousand RP for a match with 2 bombed bases and some NPCs killed.

Have fun. Its the best way, dont even try to pvp.

Wow. You guys fighting to have fox 3 missles to be king are toxic as hell. Some comments on here are saying flat out just dont play the game then. Its a game! Stop acting like people who dont want to be flying defensive the whole match just to survive against a player they can even see is out of the norm. These changes make trying to play any objectives on the map almost impossible, even more so when stock. As soon as people come kut and say something along the line of “fighting fox 3s while stock isnt fun” seems like your response is thay its a game, its not supposed to be fun.

Why cant the reverse the multipath change and you guys can duke it out above woth fox 3s and the rest of us can do what we want?

And well if you shoot a fox 3 at someone on the ground its a skill issue after all.

Too bad all the AI targets are near the middle of the map and you need to be above 60 meters to hit most of them…

You will die often, while base running, thx to aim120 madness without safe zone. But thats the only way to spade. Its quite fast paced gameplay with air spawns now. Then you spam your own 120’s.

That one’s a massive issue. By the time you get to the middle you’re probably going to get knocked out, even while hugging trees/ hiding behind terrain ( because radars wallhack for some reason and trees, at least from my experimenting and “fixes” are still abnormally huge, imagine if they were like that IRL, my childhood would be epic).
If they’re really against lowering player counts then they ought to at least add more spawn bases and spread the AI out a little ( we have drop tanks after all and missiles can go p far fo my knowledge). The solution solves the problem of too fast ticket bleed due to AI kills and, if they spread and multiply the AI out not just in a line in the middle but in clusters ( like in EC maps, but even more dynamically to both ends of the map) this would be a winning if not the final solution to good air matches.
It’d also simplify attacker games ( they wouldn’t even need airspawns in a lot of cases for some planes).

Most ppl flying low head straight towards the NPC objectives. Just shot the AIM120 towards the TWS radar echo, wait fews secs until the missile gets the neccessary lead, next lock’n’shot. If you shot 4 missiles, you often get a kill out of it. After firing your 120ties, you land rearm. Thats Phantom gameplay. Sometimes you even score multikills. Thats the catch, they cant fly evasive maneuvers. If they do, they lose the base to someone else. So they keep flying. Its the only choice if you want to bomb. Aim120 will pick them up even unassisted by your radar lock.

that’s exactly what I’m trying to do, but you also find some F15s that do the same thing because they probably don’t have the fox3s yet, and they always arrive earlier. Then the point is another, and it is this, according to what criterion should it be in 12.7? it doesn’t even come close when this plane is spaded at 12.7
