That is honestly a very embarrassing comment on your end. I didnt say a Pe-8 with a Fab-5k should be 450sp. I said the base cost of a bomber should be 450sp to make things like the P.108 better.
If bomber base SP gets lowered to 450, then Fab-5k should be increased to 350
From my Il2 gameplay: Flak is pretty easy to counter in small mono-engine fighters as long as you are aware that there is a flak battery below you and you weave your flight through the air.
Only time flak hits me whether MP or SP is if I’m stall climbing out of a ground attack, get distracted and not realize there’s a flak battery nearby or if I get target fixation and try to do a glide bombing attack rather than setup for a proper dive bombing approach.
Now, against heavier attackers like A20 in a formation it has much higher success rate by virtue of the formation having less flexibility and taking up a bigger space. However you do want the formation to keep enemy fighters farther and to ease the level bombing targetting by offloading it to the flight lead and just following their orders.
Problem: All game modes seem to use the same weather rules.
ASB is unplayable with all these clouds already during certain time + cloud combinations. Zombers/“PvE only?” players love it though because fighters become impotent against bombers who can just open the map and GPS their way to an airfield to drop bombs (even in planes without any beam guide or radio nav equipment)
I’ve had a stalingrad map I had to quit because the combination of lighting and clouds and winter ground = headache after just 30 minutes.
Aiming with a plane is easier than aiming with SPAA.
SPAA:
Stationary
Has high angular velocity targets
Cannot control target energy
Cannot control closure
Cannot control aspect.
Target is usually at significant range when shooting.
No gunsight
Aircraft:
You can use mobility
Through mobility, you can control target angular velocity
Through mobility, you can control target energy
Through mobility, you can control closure
Through mobility, you can control aspect
Target distance can be reduced “Until the gunsight is filled” ala Hartmann’s own advice to guarantee you land a shot or at least minimized to ~200-300 meters.
Due to Vertical Targetting, you don’t need to consider drop. If plane fills sufficient tick marks in your gunsight, squeeze the trigger and you’ll hit.
Due to your gunsight, you don’t actually need to calculate lead either.
“Is it a high energy fight?” - put enemy on appropriate gunsight circle for the aspect.
“Is it a low-energy fight?” Put enemy on appropriate gunsight circle for the aspect.
Yea but as you said they have an effective range of 300m, while skilled RB pilots can use third person sights at longer distances. Furthermore the visibility sacrificed to access cockpit view is not worth the ability to use gunsights. Hence why the majority of RB pilots use third person.
Guy is claiming SPAA have an easier time killing other planes than other planes.
Other planes have an easier time killing other planes. If that wasn’t the case, then why were fw190s and bf109s even made? Why were there bomber escorts made?
A fighter has significantly easier time intercepting and defeating aircraft than any groundbased gun system without automation.
Rok himself advocated for gunsights last they came up. Watching squishface, he seems to use gunsights to shoot with props as well.
As continued from the post your are replying to, the Pangolin Post #1240. Don’t tell me you are not thinking about SPAA-plane interactions but everything against planes xDD
Getting a plane isn’t necessarily hard at most BRs, however in relation to artillery which is completely free and spammable, CAS actually requires a couple of kills at its cheapest.
That’s why missiles are a thing.
AAs can easily be made useful in ARB.
I wonder how some people always come up with worse solutions.
Have it crossed your mind that some people enjoy the combined aspect and want to play it without a dice roll applied to every queue you start ?
Same goes for people that enjoy playing without aircraft.
Look, weather doesn’t let me fly, better for me to leave and try my luck again. Look, weather is good for flying, better for me to leave and try my luck again to get into a lobby without planes.
Those are just a few excuses for people to leave early and are directly linked to your suggestion.
TO is simply a better option that’ll give both sides what they want, all the time. That thing comes with little to no downsides as well.
