I bring around 7 - 9 minutes of afterburner time personally.
Which equates to about 33 minutes of Typhoon and Rafale, 40+ minutes of F-15s, and so forth.
What do you bring?

F15e. 26mins.
F14 iriaf 30min.
Su 27 / 34 about 40mins.
Mig 29 full tank.
I don’t play much RB, so I just use my SB loadouts in RB. So for the Typhoon that’s usually with triple external tanks. If I remember I’ll ditch some of my internal fuel, about 25% but Ill usually just ditch the tanks after my initial climb.
Tornado F3s I’ll usually bring 40 mins internal + combat tanks
EFT - 30 min
F-15E - 26 min
F-16C -32 min
F-14A - 40 min
Highly dependent on the map and playstyle/objective I want to do.
For the typhoon is usually a full internal load.
Rafale about 70%.
F-15’s 60-70% + 1 centerline tank.
Flankers 70-80%.
Gripen full internal load.
F-16s 60% + 1 centerline tank.
Mirage2k and J10A 80-90% internal
For smaller maps I run about about 10min less across the board.
For high tiers I will often climb to ±5000m and the fuel burn is much lower up there, and when I reach altitude I often drop my afterburner to 101% if I am just cruising.
I take around 20min of fuel.
My rule of the thumb is;
As much through external fuel tanks as possible, and as little internal fuel as possible.
That way, I can go full afterburner until merging; at that point, I drop the external fuel tanks (if they haven’t been depleted by that point) and have just enough fuel to fight and return to base if necessary.
I believe I go like 20 mins internal + 8 mins external or something like that. I haven’t played ARB in a while, but that’s the main concept in a nutshell xD
15-18 minutes with a couple exceptions, then I just don’t afterburn outside of climbing or dogfighting. You burn far less fuel and are only slightly slower, like 150km/h which is a pretty dam good trade for a couple tonnes lighter in my opinion.
I stopped doing that because I prefer not having the extra weight of the fuel tanks themselves on me for the entire early-mid game.
I used to run 2 tanks on the F-16s and F-15s with little internal fuel but not only do you get a worse turn rate for evading stuff and whatnot early game but sometimes I ripped wings because of them.
Now I usually only take 1 tank or no tank, for example on the gripen I avoid it because the centerline tank has a heavy empty weight and has like 14min of fuel that take too long to burn.
If I suspect to be airfield camped when I return to rearm, or I am solo clutching I do the 2 tank strategy with min fuel.
