We are talking about the missile it self here, not the plataform, but even then the R-77-1 is on par with the AIM-120
Again, want to hop in to a custom so i can show you the performance of the R-77-1 compared to an AIM-120? Otherwise makes me believe you’re either spreading misinformation on purpose or have absolutely no idea how the game and SS itself work.
Not talking about platforms when discussing BVR missile performance is deceitful, missiles aren’t spawning in the air on their own.
It is on par overall imo, but the 120 is better at BVR.
One is better WVR, the other is better BVR.
I’m actually telling you how these things work.
First error happened when you launched both with same launch parameters.
Second error is when you took the time to the target as a decisive value, which is only valid for a fully AFK target with the first error already mixed in.
Okay, then lets say a R-77-1 is fired at 1200km/h at 10k of alt and at the same time, an AIM-120 is fired at 1700km/h at the same alt at a target 60km away, the R-77-1 will reach the target in 51.6, and the AIM-120 will reach the target in 50.4 seconds.
Now you may say “muhhhh but drag, it can be outrunned, it can be notched” and so on; any missile that is not being fired directly in your face will be notcheable and outrunnable, (so same argument applies for the 120), it doesnt matter wich one is it, maybe not with the mica in the notch since it got a small buff this update.
Now at close range, lets say at 10km (bc further away will be extra easy to evade), the 77-1 will be able to turn in time while still burning, being way better and faster than the 120
Edit: AIM-120 will reach a speed of M4.14 and the R-77-1 M4.44
Just shoot down any incoming AMRAAMs. You have 12 R-77-1s the most that can be fired at you from a single aircraft is 8 from an F-15C/E :P
Look in my eyes. Said the velocity gate.
Assuming R-77-1 can even reach a target 20km away without wobbling itself out of the air. lol. LMAO even.
You have 0 experience with FOX-3, get the Su-30SM and then come back to this post after trying the R-77-1
:Glueless: 🥶
LOL i remember my first time playing war thunder.
The R-27ER was THE missile to use in WT since 2022, until june 2024, but lets complain about a missile that hasnt been in the game a year yet.
People laughed at the US mains for complaining about the ER’s and people would just say " sound like a skill issue " but when its the other way around, totaly has to be the game mechanics being the issue not skill.
You have a total of 1 plane (J-8F) with FOX-3 and judging blindly by your statistics, you have not done ideally lets say, you haven fired a single AIM-120 or R-77, i hope this is bait (i felt for it)
Me when I forget about the AIM-54, AIM-9M, and multiple major updates:
This isnt the flex you think it is, LMAO
Which came after the R-73… Your point?
Gaijin nuked the AMRAAMs maneuverability to meet the irl specs for range to target.
They should have buffed the energy slightly, but noooo
the aim-54 was only good until people realized they could turn rather than fly in a straight line, and the27er is faster than the aim 54 and would beat it to its target. The 9M is a IR for close combat, the R-73 can almost fly backwards and get kills on an off bore shot, the only difference is the smokeless motor and better IRCM than the L but still be dodged with little effort. In air RB the smokeless missile is useless because of the giant red diamond that says MSL. Those go away when the rocket motor is expends all of its fuel and the smoke goes away too.
every update with new weapons needs adaptation to play style and if after almost a year and your still not able to adapt thats a skill issue.
If I ever play the Tornado Gr4 in one of the 13.0 SB brackets. I always consider the Mig-29s with R-27ERs the far far greater threat to the F4F-ICE or Viggen DIs with AMRAAM.
Aim-9M was added technically AFTER R-73 was added.
They were going to add R-73s onto the Mig-29SMT but leave the F-16C with Aim-9Ls. The community turned around and point out how unfair this was, especially if the R-73 had any form of IRCCM (which it did)
(and the fact it still has the Aim-9L lock ranges, not its IRL lock ranges even after 18 months, shows just how rushed it was on entry and how little effort they’ve put into them since)
i refuse to play the f4f ICE… i just cant lol
